Has Salah finally shaken off his bonus points repellant?

Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) might have finally shaken off his aversion to bonus points this season as his Fantasy Premier League form continues to impress.

The Egyptian has recorded ten additional points through bonus in the last seven matches, which is 83% of his total for this year. If he continues at this rate, he could eclipse his tally for last season.

In the 2017/18 campaign, Salah broke the all-time FPL total score for a season but still only managed to add 26 bonus points.

A high number of off-target shots and offsides, as well as the fact that he was tackled fairly often, were all contributing factors to Salah dropping down the bonus points charts.

However, Liverpool’s number one attacker seems to have made improvements in all of those areas in recent weeks, to the extent that he has been averaging 1.43 bonus points per match since Gameweek 16.

In fact, Salah’s 11-point haul against Brighton in Gameweek 22 was the first match in which he has produced only one goal and earned bonus.

It was, of course, a match-winning goal, which does raise bonus points, but he has scored in two 1-0 wins before the one at the Amex Stadium and earned no bonus in either of them.

Prior to that, Salah has had to score another or provide an assist to put himself into consideration for the extra points on offer.

        I believe Richarlison and Hazard can explode, so I'm keen to hold on for that reason. The swap might bring in a steady flow of points but would you be annoyed if either of them hauled?
        I had the choice of Sane or Firmino this week and I opted for Firmino, would you consider removing Sane when the blank comes around? Sane > Pogba?
        But you may have missed the boat at that point

          I think he might be on and off but Firmino is the right choice. Man City has two away games followed by Arsenal/Chelsea and the blank. Even if there was no rotation threat I would't be keen on Sane. I missed Pogba's Christmas hauls but still want to bring him in for Hazard. Simply because Chelsea are not clicking as a team but Man Utd are.

    How would you fit Rashford into this attack with only one FT available?

    Salah / Hazard / Pogba / Richarlison (4.3)
    Auba / Firmino / Jimenez

    I think the safest choice is -4 Jimenez/Richarlison > Rashford/Brooks (or Redmond or Lookman).

    At times I've considered -8 Firmino/Richarlison/Holebas > Rashford/Alli/Bednarek (or a variation where I drop Digne and add Sane rather than Alli) but that's a huge risk that only pays off if Alli has some massive performances coming up.

    My thoughts in the past have been to have a decent, at least playing, bench at your disposal. But that's rubbish.
    I've only needed two bench players twice this season and one bench player six times out of 22 GWs.
    The bench is so overrated on this site!

        What you would gain by investing in your starting XI over the rest of the season is incomparable to navigating a couple of blank GWs plus we have FH chip now for one of them if we fancy.

          I don't understand your point of wanting to invest in your starting XI when you've got a bench of AWB (4.0), Bednarek (4.0) & Camarasa (4.5). You don't have to spend big on a bench but as long as they're playing, they're there for you to fall back on if you need them.

      You've been fortunate. It's not just about autosubs, but being able to rotate according to good fixtures. I probably had my best month this season when I went with a strong bench. I'm slowly redistributing my Kane funds to get back to it. Bench of Nasri/Doherty Brooks AWB fyi.

      I agree and it gives a hard time to know how to bench. I have benched 3 double digits hauls this season already, and alot of 5-7 pointers. Trying to be smart benching Dignes 17 pointer is an example of that.
