Has Salah finally shaken off his bonus points repellant?

Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) might have finally shaken off his aversion to bonus points this season as his Fantasy Premier League form continues to impress.

The Egyptian has recorded ten additional points through bonus in the last seven matches, which is 83% of his total for this year. If he continues at this rate, he could eclipse his tally for last season.

In the 2017/18 campaign, Salah broke the all-time FPL total score for a season but still only managed to add 26 bonus points.

A high number of off-target shots and offsides, as well as the fact that he was tackled fairly often, were all contributing factors to Salah dropping down the bonus points charts.

However, Liverpool’s number one attacker seems to have made improvements in all of those areas in recent weeks, to the extent that he has been averaging 1.43 bonus points per match since Gameweek 16.

In fact, Salah’s 11-point haul against Brighton in Gameweek 22 was the first match in which he has produced only one goal and earned bonus.

It was, of course, a match-winning goal, which does raise bonus points, but he has scored in two 1-0 wins before the one at the Amex Stadium and earned no bonus in either of them.

Prior to that, Salah has had to score another or provide an assist to put himself into consideration for the extra points on offer.

So that means something must have changed in his underlying statistics to endear him to the bonus points system (BPS) more than last season. Fantasy Football Scout members can read on and see more of our analysis…

    let me ask this one last time

    this is my team:
    patricio - hamer*
    robbo - TAA** - wan bissaka - bennet* - peltier*
    salah - hazard - sane - anderson - hojberg
    kane** - rashford - kamara*

    i am already on a -4, and with the TAA and kane injuries, as well as having some deadwoods in kamara, peltier and bennet, i feel like all these have forced my hand into playing an early wildcard..

    what you reckon lads? WC or not?

      Tough spot. Need 4 or 5 more transfers over 2 weeks to get the squad back in shape

      If you want to bin more than 5 player's I'd suggest to WC the team.
      Already done 2 transfers too. So you are not happy with your team so it is the right time imo.

        thanks, i have been playing for a few seasons, i normally keep the WC for the DGW period in the past

        but when you got to play it, then you got to play it, i feel like now feels like the right time

          Yeah.
          You can swap 6-7 player's from that team already on -4
          So...

      I'd go with a -12 by doing Kane -> Auba and Kamara -> Ings. That will give you a solid front 7 for the next few weeks. Then sort out TAA next GW.

        i thought about it, but very reluctant to do a -12

          Yeah, it's a tough one. Just need to weigh up whether you think you'll make more saving your WC for the DGW-fest.

            thanks LF. im not too sure, sometimes planning too much for the DGW makes the squad a lot worse, hence i dont mind taking the early WC route, just means i have to plan my DGW strategies more carefully

      Just take Kane or TAA out for an additional -4. You can play Robbo and Bennett who both have good fixtures.

      Your midfield is fine, you'll regret not having the WC when the doubles hit

      I did the same last week and it turned out really well, I have a good squad with good fixtures for the next 3-4 weeks now. I’m not too bothered about the DGW I would rather get a good squad now and score well for next few weeks, that more than makes up for it. And you can still plan for the DGW

      Just not sure of Bednarek's nailedness. Yoshida Stephens Hoedt Vestergaard is a lot of competition for 3 spots at the back. He's playing now, but not entirely certain. Bennett though plays week in week out.

          But with players from these lesser clubs, playing last few in a row doesn't really say much. One bad performance and they can be booted out if there are options.

          Take Lowe from Huddersfield for example. Checkout the first 11 games and the next 11 games.

        What form?Aguero and sane won them the game vs pool and hasn't played since .Jesus scored a shaktar and never even started after.Scored a brace vs Everton and kun came straight back for next 3.

      Yes don't get the logic of Jesus in form bs.A penalty and put on a plate by sane and laporte isn't form and kun started all 3 pl games before even when he just came back from injury tho Jesus braced vs everton.Jesus wasn't trusted.Kun was ill last week plus it would be 16 days since kun last played if he doesn't start this week as he wasn't even on the bench in the cup games

      My theory: whatever Jesus does, Pep wants Kun against Arsenal and Chelsea. Therefore, Pep will give Kun some games. I just can't call which game.

    A. Arnie + Rich -> Firmino + Redmond
    B. Arnie + Rich -> Pogba + Deeney/Ings
    C. Arnie + Rich -> Jimenez + Felipe Anderson

    Current team is:

    Kepa - Hamer
    Pereira - Robbo - Digne - Doherty - AwB
    Hazard - Sane - Alli - Rich - Stephens
    Auba - Rashford - Arnautovic

    I’m looking at the ticker up to gw31 when the blanks might start. Spurs have a great run, is trippier an option?
    What about the alli Erik double up? should Hoover up all their points and their fixtures are insane

      He's currently in my WC team. Keep it quiet but he comes with a risk their keeper is Lloris and Aurier is fit.

      Nice capitalisation of the brand name Hoover, but unnecessary when used as a verb imo.

      First blank is GW27, and Spurs might be one of those teams to lose a fixture. In principle Trippier could again be a good option. Depends on your team and strategy, but should get points.

    I am gonna give Rich two more weeks. If he continues to fade like he did last season, I will look at fixtures for replacement. I feel like Everton is in a slow slide to the bottom. Digne might have two or three returns until the bottom falls out. Hopefully the next two weeks will prove me wrong, but I doubt it.

    Can anyone fill me in on how Speroni became CP's third choice gk? It seems like only a couple of seasons ago he was Palace's represntative on the MOTD intro song. Loss of form, some incident I missed?

    And doesn't he have a chance of playing now Guita (excuse the spelling) is injured?

      Probably the fact that he's 39 now.
