How the Top 10k are looking ahead of Blank Gameweek 27

The top 10,000 managers in Fantasy Premier League have joined the rest of us in moving en masse for Son Heung-min (£8.8m).

The Spurs midfielder was snapped up by just over 550,000 FPL managers in the run-up to Gameweek 26 – that’s almost twice as many transfers in as the next-most-bought player of this weekend.

A look at the most-owned players among the top 10k (see below) reveals that Son is the only change to the “template” squad from the previous Gameweek, with Leroy Sane (£9.6m) unsurprisingly making way.

Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) remains the most-owned player in the top 10,000, followed by Marcus Rashford (£7.8m) – who was benched at Craven Cottage earlier today – and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.6m).

The above template squad features four players who blank in Gameweek 27 – namely Lucas Digne (£5.3m), Richarlison (£6.7m), Eden Hazard (£10.9m) and Sergio Aguero (£11.4m).

The front eight players in the above graphic match those in the overall most-owned squad, as pictured below:

Marcos Alonso (£6.5m), Ederson (£5.6m), Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) and Alisson (£6.0m) are the four names that differ; Alonso and Ederson being two more players without a fixture in Gameweek 27.

Son for Sane and Raul Jimenez (£6.7m) for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.2m) are the two changes from Gameweek 25.

There unsurprisingly hasn’t been a great deal of chip activity this weekend, though we may see a very minor spike in the usage of the free hit chip in Gameweek 27 among those Fantasy managers whose squads are overloaded with Manchester City, Everton and Chelsea assets.

Just over 17% of managers inside the top 10,000 have used their free hit chip already.

Over 75% of managers in the top 10k have their triple captain chip still to play, while a similar number also have their second wildcard still to burn.

Bench boost remains the least-used chip among these high-performing Fantasy managers.

The overall picture, meanwhile, looks as follows:

Almost exactly one in five managers inside the top 10k in FPL have used two or more of their chips already this season (see below).

Just over 50% of the top 10,000 Fantasy bosses are still yet to use a single chip, however.

The overall situation shows a similar spread, though an increased 27.4% have used two or more of their chips as of Gameweek 26:

Switching our attention back to Gameweek 26, the top 10k largely backed Salah for the armband ahead of his eight-point return against Bournemouth.

The 2.27% who captained Paul Pogba (£8.7m) will be sitting pretty on 32 points once bonus is added, while a similar number captained Aubameyang and will be relying on their vice-captain for points (Pogba being a popular choice) after the Gabonese forward’s no-show at Huddersfield.

The overall Gameweek 26 captaincy picture is not quite as straightforward, as one would perhaps expect given the varying degrees of involvement further down the rankings and with those managers perhaps having less to lose by backing a differential captain.

You can view more Gameweek 26 stats on Ragabolly’s site here.

Seeing a lot of how unlucky am I posts bout Kola but we gotta realise that every bounce of the ball can go another way and that what happens is the only version of events that matters. Be at peace with that then you can move on way quicker

      Agreed

You do need a certain amount of luck to do well in FPL

if the OG happened 2 mins in and then he got an assist people would be a little more relieved than annoyed, games not over 'til it's over, doesn't really matter when it happens

That's what I was thinking too. Always better to end on a high. Even not following the match would've been better, as I would then check the score and see 2 points, and wouldn't feel any highs or lows.

This conceding at 2nd half injury time is extremely annoying...

yeah it's still annoying, but nothing is certain until the game ends.

There's been a couple of times when I can't check all weekend and then just look at the points (not knowing a couple of my players hit the bar/missed a pen or whatever) and it's far less annoying

The timing is the kicker though. They should look to West Ham for inspiration - West Ham used to concede solitary goals in added time, but they fixed that. Now they concede in the beginning of matches so any Fabianski points after that feel like a bonus 😆

I don't really 'expect' CS points from Kola, he has outstanding attacking threat - it's the fact it was an own goal (and bonus loss) more than a CS loss really

Luck is part of FPL and football too. Kolasinac owners were lucky that the shot from Iwobi deflected past the GK.

But it’s only due to an illness and appears Hamer dropped a clanger as you will see on MOTD.

AFAIK suspensions through the accumulation of yellow cards are now competition specific. This is a change made for the 2018/9 season. The FA cup is now like European competitions - 2 yellows and you're suspended for one game.

No I think the competition-specific aspect refers to accumulation, not suspension.
i.e. Holebas has accumulated 10 PL yc and will serve 2 suspensions - 1 FA Cup, 1 PL

There a few strategies, however I'm going to use BB the week after I play my WC prior to the DGW in 32. I think GW33 could be a light week, so will use the FH one then. TC? Christ knows!

                Yes, most are looking at
                32 FH
                34 WC
                35 BB

the main alternative seems to be
                  31 FH
                  32 TC
                  34 WC

Funny from BBC 5 Live Sport

Only two teams in #PL history have conceded more from set pieces than Marco Silva's Everton...

              1st Marco Silva's Hull
              2nd Marco Silva's Watford

Not really. I kept Son throughout the entire Asian cup so his last two games have been hauls that other people haven’t had. Has made no difference. If Salah, Robertson, Pogba or Rashford score points it makes zero difference.

                Salah
                Son

some of us got hauls and rises from those players before they became "template players". also son, pogba and rash were ignored for the majority of the season (for good reason)

I think the vast majority (of those in the top 10-50k at least) would have got 'hauls and rises' as you put it - it was rather obvious these players were shockingly underpriced - even Pogba before Ole came in was coming off the back of 19 returns in 27 games (!) last year from central midfield, they're all due massive price hikes next season

But the point still stands - I've never seen the template as uniform as this year

For example I’ll be bringing Auba in next week and fancied a nice little punt on Lukaku today when it became clear Rashford wasn’t starting. If I had done that, it would have backfired horribly.

Yep. And people who tried going with KDB at the DGW failed. You really got to "hope" for some injuries or thing s keeping players out so you have to make some moves or use your bench. Like today with Rash I got lucky with Camarasa, not exactly a haul but still.

I love it when people don’t link their teams properly. As I said above, keeping Son throughout the Asia Cup was a significant risk and the rewards should have been sensation last two weeks- but I barely moved rank.

              Camarasa

At least holebas excluded himself else i’d have too many options.

                  Helpful lol

Other options would be TAA/ Shaw/ Bamba

Other defenders already are Robbo, Pereira, Doherty, AWB
                  So I could bench Luiz...

TAA out of those. Fancy Newcastle defence to do well over the next few. Concidered Lascelles or Yedlin?

Depends on your plans for the blanks/doubles. Would personally focus on Liv/Lei, although in your case already have one of each and can already play those 4, so may already be able to put out decent 11.

Have a fairly decent 11 to put out:

                          Fab
                          Robbo, Doherty, Pereira, AWB
                          Salah, Son, Pogba, Jota
                          Rash, Jimi

Blanks/ doubles plan is undecided but have all chips still remaining

Then I'd wait to see how the cup games pan out, and maybe save the Luiz transfer for later.
                              Nice position to be in

Thoughts on a Sane replacement for 9.4 or less?

Already own Son and reluctant to get Pogba as I already have Martial and Rashford aswell as having Liverpool up next. How about going for a cheaper player. ie Jota and having the money to upgrade Martial to Pogba next week

important to either double up liverpool defence or double up mane/salah, there are good arguments for either

I was close to doing Sterling + Llorente > Mane + Lacazette this morning but it would've been for -4. Couldn't really justify selling Llorente home to Leicester, and who's to say Sterling won't do well vs Chelsea?

Anyone got Mané and regretting bringing him in? 9.5m and he scores today but nowhere near the baps. I think I'm edging towards Robertson or TAA.

Lacazette is a strong pick though, I reckon.

Deciding how to cover gw27, but looking forward, too (re: Chelsea after Spurs).

                    Current team:
Fab, Button // Luiz, Robbo, Doh, AWB, Bednarek
Salah, Pogba, Hazard, Son, Siggy // Rash, Jim, Kamara

                    Each is a -4...
                    1) Haz, Kamara > Moutinho, Auba
                    2) Siggy, Kam > Fanderson, Rondon
                    3) Luiz, Kam > Kola, Rondon
                    4) Other?
