Leicester options rise up Watchlist ahead of important fixture swing

The impending fixture swing for Leicester City is the biggest influence on our Watchlist ahead of the end of season run-in.

The Foxes now have a very appealing schedule from now until Gameweek 35, which sees them top the Season Ticker for at least the next 11 round of matches.

It was impossible to ignore them as we updated our Watchlist, our ranking of the best Fantasy options for the next few weeks, by position.

Furthermore, as a team that is already confirmed to have fixtures in both upcoming Blank Gameweeks (31 and 33), Leicester City assets should help us navigate chip season too.

In goal, Kasper Schmeichel (£5.0m) has risen to second place, heavily influenced by those fixtures, especially in the short-term.

Crystal Palace, Brighton and Fulham are the next three to visit the King Power Stadium, offering the potential for clean sheets.

Also making moves in the goalkeeper department is West Ham United’s Łukasz Fabiański (£4.7m), who now holds the top spot.

The Hammers’ fixtures look particularly strong from a defensive perspective over the next six Gameweeks, with Fulham, Newcastle, Huddersfield and Everton all set to visit the London Stadium between now and Gameweek 32.

The rise of Fabiański and Schmeichel has seen Alisson (£6.0m) slip down to third following Liverpool’s recent defensive slump. Now that the Brazilian has risen to £6.0m, he needs to show a bit more consistency to justify his price tag, especially with just two clean sheets in seven matches.

Ricardo Pereira (£5.3m) is our chosen Leicester option in defence after weeks of potential. With a goal and three assists since Gameweek 19, the former Porto man has well and truly passed his audition for the end of season run-in.

Only one defender has created more chances than Pereira in the last four Gameweeks, which bodes well for continued attacking returns.

Crucially, he is often used as an attacking winger (although not always) so has the potential to be ‘Out of Position’ for Leicester.

However, Pereira has a little bit of work to do to break into the top three in defence, with Andrew Robertson (£6.8m), Matt Doherty (£5.4m) and Sead Kolasinac (£5.0m) all still offering a regular balance of defensive and attacking returns.

Those Leicester fixtures should allow him to have a great shot at the top spots though.

Two new names in defence include Fabian Schär (£4.6m) and Shane Duffy (£4.6m). Both centre-backs have promising fixtures according to the Season Ticker and have been carrying attacking threat recently too.

Newcastle man Schär has two goals and an assist in his last four while Brighton centre-back has struck twice since Gameweek 21 and has the most shots in the box of any defender in the last four Gameweeks.

In midfield, James Maddison (£6.6m) gets a boost all the way up to fourth following his impressive creativity in recently.

Only two players have played more key passes than the Foxes midfielder in the last four Gameweeks.

Just three options sit above Maddison in the midfield section of our Watchlist right now, Mohamed Salah (£13.6m), Paul Pogba (£8.8m) and Son Heung-min (£8.9m).

Felipe Anderson (£7.2m) returns to the Watchlist to reflect West Ham’s appealing fixtures.

Up front, Sergio Aguero (£11.5m) claims top spot after back-to-back home hat-tricks. No player has had more shots on target in the last four Gameweeks as the Manchester City forward.

The fact that he has shaken off competition from Gabriel Jesus makes him a hugely important asset to own in the coming weeks, even if he has a Blank in Gameweek 27.

The next two Gameweeks are a big part of why Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.1m) currently occupies the second spot.

Marcus Rashford (£7.8m), Raúl Jiménez (£6.8m) and Ashley Barnes (£5.6m) complete the top five as our best budget forwards.

The Manchester United man has put together an incredible run of consistency, registering 11 attacking returns in 12 Gameweeks.

Wolves centre-forward Jiménez is joint-top among all players for shots in the box over the last four Gameweeks, while only Aguero has more accurate efforts in that time than Barnes.

Jamie Vardy (£8.8m) comes in as our Leicester representative just ahead of Roberto Firmino (£9.3m).

He compares quite favourably with the Liverpool man over the last four Gameweeks, recording the same number of shots in the box and just one fewer chance created, from fewer minutes.

With better fixtures and a slightly cheaper price, Vardy just has the edge of Firmino.

Was planning on Auba(c) but after this horrendous Arsenal performance I'm leaning towards Son(c). Right move?

      agree

Still have Kun / Bobby / Rash

was actually thinking Bobby to Laca (or Rash to Laca + hit).
but I can see a narrow 1-0 win for Arsenal against a much improved Soton

Having spent years watching crap spurs in europa league whilst arsenal fans complained about losing in the last 16 of cl, there is a bit of humour in this.

I know we will win nothing of course.

Arsenal seem to have become spurs, and vice versa.

This Bale nonsense about provoking the crowd.

Football fans are mostly adult and mostly human. If they respond negatively to a gesture or insult from one man they're pathetic and deserve all the bans/prosecution coming to them. They cannot in any good faith claim to have been provoked beyond restraint by such actions. By saying that a player can provoke them you're giving them a free pass and an excuse for violence.

These rules are just there to ensure that broadcasters can maximise revenue by not having to worry about capturing swearing etc. Silly really.

I'm a bit vary of investing in these teams that won't get 7th, and won't get relegated.

I got double LEI defense last year around this time of year. They had a great run, and played in the blanks. But despite that, from February out the only kept 2 clean sheets untill the end of the season. I lost so many points on that double up.

Of course, CS are hard to predict but they really lost their way last season at the end. They even lost 5-0 to Palace at some point.

This year they've conceded the same amount of goals or more than Wolves, Newcastle, CPL and Watford, yet their defenders regularly cost at least 0,5 more. I see the point about attacking threat but I'm not sure I'd play any of the Lei defenders over Doherty or AWB.

      Very wary of them

The article took the easy route & didn't really offer any balance - fixtures are superb... but what about their recent form (L-L-D-L-L), defensive struggles (11 conceded in last 5) and the controversies involving Puel & the dressing room... They can have the best fixtures in the world, but if they're losing games their players won't be returning FPL points

West Ham home is 3 days after the LC final, and Watford home is just before before Shalke second leg... 3 away fixtures in 4 from GW29-32 (He's a shadow of himself away from home from an FPL perspective)

Need to see the Shalke first leg & LC final lineups first

Chances Harold Reginald Kane is back for the next game? I was considering Auba but if Kane is back might as well get him right away instead of doing the hokey coke.

Surely people aren’t thinking that Auba won’t start a third game in a row

Bound to start vs Southampton regardless, he’s had a rest

I love these type of posts that create a rumour (that Auba won't start) imply that it is the talk of the town (Surely people aren't thinking) and then add some reasoning as to why the rumour is unlikely.

      Have a +1 🙂

Aguero has Schalke & League Cup Final in the 7 days before West Ham - do you think he's guaranteed to start West Ham match?

It's foolish to think he won't

It's foolish to think he's guaranteed to start with those two games in 7 days beforehand. There's the possibility he could start, but the League Cup Final lineup is needed - if hes starts Schalke & the league cup final, he is at risk of not starting West Ham - not what I'd call a guarantee

Only looking at last 5 Jesus has started and played most minutes of 4 of last 5 league cup matches. It's his tournament. Pep won't shun him

Starting any sentence with 'Pep won't' automatically renders it invalid

I am kind of happy with my front 8 so I am considering spending my spare 1.8 million to strengthen my keeper and defense:

    Fab Button
    VVD Doherty Kola AWB Bednarek

    I was thinking

    AWB -> Pereira gw27
    Fab-l -> Dubravka gw28

But maybe it’s a waste if transfers? What do you think?

If Son has a game 31 would you keep him or still get Sterling for him gwk28?

    With Son:- Vardy and Maddison
    With Sterling:- Rondon and Anderson

Tempted to free his this week not because I have 2 blank game week players but cause I've got 5 players from the Liverpool United clash and no obvious arm band candidate.

Thoughts from others in a similar position?

Most people have similar. The fixtures aren't attractive. Complete waste. Anyone using over 31 on bulk BGW DGW will have massive advantage imo

Would you not prefer 11x double gameweekers by using in GW32?

It's all team dependent obviously, but the chance to literally have an entire team of no strings attached, hand picked players with double fixtures, whilst not being anywhere near a guarantee of points, is still surely too good to turn down?

      The way i see it:

      - FH in any GW outside of GW32 is like a sniper rifle - if you get it right, it could be deadly, but will require a lot of accuracy
      - FH in GW32 is like a shotgun at close range - utter devastation and not (as much) accuracy needed

He's 5th mid price. Play 27 to make up numbers then bench for your 7 better attackers next week then trade out to a cheap bench fodder. Seems a waste

Early thoughts for next game week...

    2FT 3.7m ITB

    A) Firmino >> Auba
    B) Firmino + Alonso >> Laca + Lascelles (leaves funds for sterling)
    C) Kamara + Alonso >> Laca + Lacelles

    Guatia
    AWB • Doherty • Bennet • Robertson
    Salah • Pogba • Son • Jota
    Firmino • Rashford

    McCarthy / Alonso / Rich / Kamara.
