Blank Gameweek 27 captaincy a tough decision for Fantasy managers

Fantasy Premier League managers have a tough decision for the Blank Gameweek 27 captaincy.

You can now vote in the latest poll below or in the sidebar and watch our latest Captain Video on YouTube.

With Manchester City, Chelsea, Everton and Brighton all out of action because of the League Cup, there are only eight matches to be played.

One of those is a big clash at Old Trafford featuring Manchester United vs Liverpool.

The two teams have played a big part in recent captaincy debates so Fantasy managers might be put off by the fact that they are facing each other this week.

We analysed how the likes of Mohamed Salah (£13.6m), Paul Pogba (£8.8m) and Marcus Rashford (£7.8m) look for Gameweek 27 in our latest Captain Video, which we streamed live from our YouTube channel over lunch on Monday.

What we found was that there may be more goals in this match than many first suspects.

However, the current overriding school of thought revolves around Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.1m) and Arsenal’s home match against Southampton.

The Gabonese international has been a lot more reliable at home than he has on the road of late, as explained by Neale in our latest video (below).

Given the strength of the fixture, Alexandre Lacazette (£9.5m) also looks worth considering too.

Son Heung-min (£8.9m) has been an exceptionally reliable figure in recent weeks and faces a trip to Burnley.

Leicester’s options are expected to be popular in the coming weeks and a home match against Crystal Palace could provide an early opportunity to get in early on their run with the captaincy.

However, perhaps the most attractive option from the so-called smaller clubs is probably Felipe Anderson (£7.2m), who faces Fulham’s shaky defence at the London Stadium on Friday night.

Too risky to get Boruc for the blanks?
Would play 31 and 33 plus any game where he looks a better option than Guaita.

I might also consider Heaton or Fabs if needs be, too many variables to see if I could afford!

thinking same. i have 2 FT's. Have Ederson and would bring in for Hamer.... so hoping to hear if the latter keeps his place.

I've currently got the the captaincy set on Arnie. Could be golden.... could be a huge fail (especially if he doesn't start).
I think it's a perfect opportunity to find a differential as captain but I think I may be trying to be "too" clever as owning Arnie is a differential on it's own. Though part of me is thinking making Salah captain could be a good shout with many, including myself, trying to find better options.
I don't think Arsenal will have it easy against Southampton and see an upset there

seen a few of these Arsenal takes, they have been pretty turd recently but at home this season, P13 W10 D2 L1 - 3rd best in the league...Southampton are also turd

Can't argue with the stats mate. If an Arsenal midfielder stood out I'd be interested for sure. I could have signed Laca or Auba but opted for Arnie plus money in the bank

yeah, could work - my issue is that I now don't know which one to get, Laca RC in EL making me doubt myself now (Laca could be better)

It's a toss up between them two and no doubt if I opted for one, it would be the wrong one.
Laca is showing consistency and has the suspension on Thursday in his favour Vs Auba's penalty duties and the feeling he could haul any time.

If you own Auba, makes sense to captain him this week but Saints have tightened up under Hasenhüttl, 6 conceded in the last 6. Small sample size I know, but their non penalty xG conceded since the turn of the year is also good - 7th behind City, Liverpool, Spurs, Leicester, Everton and Wolves.

Hi mate. I see you've held off from making any transfers so far 🙂
I'm avoiding Arsenal.... probably look at them again if they fail to get through on Thursday.
I'd be angry at myself if I ended up talking myself out of captaining Arnie so what will be will be

Roughly my thoughts on Rondon - the selection could be differential enough.

Not having Auba I’m tempted by Mane as the mainstream differential captain - I can’t see many going there but he’s as likely to score as any in that match.

      1. Pep Pig

I agree mate. I really like Rondon and surprised myself by not bringing him in. I decided on Arnie though straight after the Fulham v Man Utd game though

I was all set on Arnie but I just don’t fancy him to start the next 5.

Also Fulham were also actually pretty decent for 45 minutes against Palace (easily value for a draw) and handy against Spurs - two London derbies.

It’s obviously against form but I fancy them to put in a performance against Hammers.

I expect Fulham to have a real go at teams as they have to start winning matches. I think that will play into the hands of teams like West Ham. I don't own F Anderson, though I'm hopeful over the next several games, they can find their form together again

What do you think of this plan?

    Current team:

    Lloris 4.0
    Doherty VVD Robertson Kola AWB
    Salah Sterling Son Pogba Jota
    Jimenez Llorente Rashford

GW27: Salah/Llorente to Camarasa/Auba and captain Auba this GW.

    GW28: Jimenez to Agüero

I will captain Agüero or Sterling GW28-30 anyway so I don't need Salah for captain.

Not for me - if Wolves were at home maybe.

We ran out of time on the vid to cover that game, actually. I was thinking of him too - but Bournemouth generally better at home (three clean sheets in their last four at the Vitality, plus rate of big chances conceded in those matches is decent).

Bmouth at home is way more solid, and their defensive shape get well again as Clyne can play.

    Captain option:

    1. Anderson
    2. Son
    3. do Firmino > Auba/Laca for a -4 and make captain

Maybe, but dont know who else to bench:

          1. Maddison
          2. F. Anderson
          3. Pogba
          4. Salah
          5. Son
          6. Jimenez
          7. Rashford

          ?

thnx. In doubt between 1 and 2.
I'm playing Firmino and not benching, but he's not capable of an explosive haul vs United I think, which the Arsenal strikers have a bigger chance of doing against Southampton.

Whats the wisdom on here regarding preparing for blank 31, free hit 32, handle 33, wc 34, bb 35? It wastes the triple captain I suppose but its the inferior chip compared to the bb and the free hit anyway

quite popular i think. i m not sure about it myself because of the tc waste as you say.

True but with every plan I can see there has to be a waste of a chip or an ignoring of a double/blank. Difficult to choose

dgw32 fixtures will be the key for me to see if my current squad can handle the fixtures of that week

in that case i would fh31/33

          tc32 wc 34 and bb 35

really really want to give hazard the tc armband

WC and FH chips are the only ones that matter imo, BB and TC are incredibly overrated on here.

75 points sanchez tc 2 seasons ago strongly disagrees 🙂

Wont happen this season and even if there was a stand out TC, most would captain anyway so not gaining much!

I agree on tc I guess, but a well planned bb is generally a pretty consistently productive chip in my experience

Wil be a 3rd DGW (or a TGW) if either Brighton or Chelsea reach the FA Cup semis

13 games to play in 12 GWs of which 2 are blanks - they are 3 fixtures short regardless of what happens in the EL

But as you said it will be a cardiff brighton one right? Or will chelsea also have another double maybe? In that case that would be great

    Dubravka
    Robbo Rice Chilwell
    Salah Mane Anderson
    Wilson King

    Not a FH team.
Decent enough for gw31 as a 9-a-side team?

Good enough unless Chelsea lose tonight in which case I think you'd need Hazard or Higuain.

    B) Pereira in for Digne

    C) Mane in for Sane (Means no City attack)
