Because presumably there's a 50/50 chance they'll get scheduled into Tuesday night or Wednesday night.
I don't think a Tuesday fixture has stopped a team playing on a Sunday in the past though.
I imagine Liverpool will hit the roof if they are challenging for the title and are asked to play two days before a CL match.

Every time I read something about chip strategy I find another flaw.
I have lots of value in Man U and Wolves players.
I also need to get 11 out this week, but don't really want to lose sterling. Should I sell everton and chelsea assests, even though they play in 31?

My situation is not too different. I think it will be a relatively low scoring week so not going to overthink it. Most will have a 1 or 2 city players an also 3 to 5 in the Liv/ManU game.
Differences in players to me are:
Tark & Digne & Luiz > TAA & Bednerak & WB
Siggy > Fraser
LLo > Aguero
I'm looking at building for 32 with FT and use BB or TC that week; FH in 31 to cover the blanks; shutting my eyes a bit in 33 (although more prem fixtures so mightn't be too bad); WC in 34; BB or TC in 35 (or maybe TC later).
Loads of value tied up that I don't want to squander now for players I'll want back later.
Siggy and Digne need to go (Everton fixtures not great. Luiz I'd monitor depending what happens with Sarri; LLo days almost numbered with Kane returning. I would guess you have little 'profit' tied up in many of these, so they are candidates in the short term. Longer term, the Wolves boys fixtures go bad soon

The only issue I see on first look is no City coverage for WHM, bou, WAT. I personally wouldn't be comfortable with that, just for the sake of fielding a full 11 in GW31.
Yeah, that is the big concern. There's no easy way to get Sterling or Aguero though, which are the 2 I'd want. Their schedule is also quite brutal, so I think there will inevitably be some rotation (said like a true MCY non-holder!)
Yeah it's not straightforward, and I know lots will say otherwise, but I can see Aguero starting all 3. Could of course be wrong though!

Got the likes of Luiz, Button, Ings, VVD and only 10 playing this week. I know Luiz and VVD will play in 31 and 33 but dont really want to keep for sake of them playing in 1 months time.
It’s more having that WC right before DGW to nail it. Not having it makes your more vulnerable. Though if you make up some points between now and then fair enough!
Certainly agree and I have always kept it until later in the season but talk of 32 and 35 with no confirmation of fixtures and being able to FH in one of them certainly makes it easier with a bit of planing.

Bournemouth can be a really streaky team. Last season from memory they bombed last season around this time despite reasonable fixtures. If they fire you’d want 3 of them perhaps.
West Ham are another team that could go any which way. Potential big scores but equally possible blanks.
Chelsea without Sarri may explode in relief - they often respond to a new manager
If FH'ing surely you'd get Boruc as your 4.0m keeper just in case, and two of Fraser/King/Wilson is enough, when you have Chelsea, and Liverpool players...and a good fixture for West Ham.
That;s a fair point. Both Chelsea and WHam have good couple of fixtures GW29-30, so we'll get a good look then.

I have only Salah Robertson and Fabianski for GW31 so I'll be needing to take a few hits. I might just bite those hits now and get some out of the way to help for GW27 as well as getting prepared for the blanks
A -8 this early could hurt if players get injured but it also gives them more time to make up the spent points..
Why are you doubting FH32, I'm warming to the idea.
The only issue I have is that I'd need to lose Sterling after GW28, which means no City players in 29, or 30.
I'd have Hazard for Fulham, and Wolves instead, but right now that sounds better on paper, than it looks in real life.
I've gone through a few different transfer strategies but the main thing is that I'll only have 7 + GK without hits for GW31, which feels light. I'd like to have 10, really, which would be 3 hits.
I guess -12 is worth it but part of me wonders if using FH in GW31, saving those 12 points, and trying to build for a GW32 team makes more sense. That would also allow GW32 TC.
I'm still leaning FH32 but I don't like taking hits
And hope for what in BGW33?

Yeah I guess I need to look harder at what 33 would look like. That's part of it that I haven't really dug into when just now thinking about FH31.
I had been thinking before that GW33 is what ruins the FH in 31 for my team.. which is probably still true
Really great reading this discussion. I'm in almost the exact position as you, Geoff, with Salah, VVD and Digne for GW31, but I have 2 x FT's which mean I could potentially get 8 out in GW31. Given I don't have a WC, I'd probably max out at -8 for 10 players.
For me, the prospect of FH in GW32 and losing all Liverpool, plus maybe a Brighton defence triple up, would be a very appealing punt!
I think after this discussion and some others I've decided I'll do FH32. Losing Liverpool and going with the best XI I can for the DGW is too good to turn down. For my team - not saying that's the only, or best, strategy for everyone.
But then it's when do I take the hits and who do I move. Richarlison, even though it's for a hit basically and he has 31 and 33? Do I take the hits early to have more time to make up the points?

Owning Everton players feels like a curse: "I will give you a fixture in BGW31 and 33, but it will be CHE and ARS, hahahaha".
TBF, they're home games and neither look too solid defensively. Richarlison looks a better hold than say, Digne, but there's more pressure for midfield spots so it's a catch 22.
I'm with you on the hits, I asked on the forum a few weeks back how many people had taken (as I couldn't believe the teams, and TV some people had) and people had taken 15/20 individual hits this year, and were still in the top 100k.
I've taken 3 so far.
If my planned transfers ahead of 31 work out, I'll have 10 for 31.
Button, Sterling, Shaw and Jimenez to Boruc, Hazard, Periera and Arnie. I could do a -4 for Son to Mane as well to get a full 11.
That gives me Boruc, Robertson, Periera, Schindler, Digne, Salah, Hazard, Anderson, Wilson and Arnie.
So as I say, I'm warming to save the FH for 32.
Your point about TC is also well noted.
It's all a little fresh in my head, I've been thinking FH32 all along. But then I had a little wobble this morning thinking about how many transfers I'll need to get what I want in 31.
I like your moves. Hazard, Pereira, Anderson, Wilson/King are players I want. Ake/Luiz/Alonso as another defender. I'll probably sell Richarlison but keeping him would help me field a full team.

This is the exact problem I had with the FH issue.
Whilst I'd be happy to take a one week punt on Alonso/Luiz, Hazard and Higuian, I don't want them for more than one week really, likewise I don't want to keep Richarlison, Digne, Schindler...or even Wilson whilst he's injured for the next few weeks, just because they play in 31.
...and then the issue of losing City players prior to 31 too.
But the arguments I've seen for a strong FH32 team, and the ease of navigating GW33, just makes FH32 more logical.

To be fair, losing Sterling for GW31 doesn't feel bad, he'll be the last transfer I make.
I need to think about Richarlison.. moving him out now feels like a good thing but having him in GW31 and GW33 means, probably, at least 2 points extra in each GW. So (probably) a minimum of 4 extra points to keep him as fodder in my team until then might be worth it?
I've already lost Richarlison for Anderson this week.
It was between him and Digne, and just felt Anderson offered more this week, than any potential Digne replacement, and this means keeping Digne through 31/33.

I'm wobbling between FH 31 or 32. I was all set for FH32 but I have Pogba, Rashford, Jiminez, Doherty and AWB all with large TV tied up in them. I don't mind losing AWB but would realistically want double Wolves and double United for the likely double gameweeks. If I FH 31 then I can keep them all and build towards 32 & 35 with my transfers. Otherwise I will lose massive value and would potentially need to find alternatives. A FH31 would also mean that I could use my TC in a DGW rather than possibly Salah at home to Huddersfield in 36.
I do genuinely think different strategies will work for different people.
I've already sold Pogba, for example, so preparing for GW32 without a WC/FH becomes a lot more difficult
Oh you definitely have one hand tied behind your back if you are not in possession of all your chips. On the other hand your strategy might be easier as you have fewer options. Those of us with all the chips are trying to fit 3 into (probably) 2 DGWs, as such there are a multitude of ways to do it and it will entirely depend on the individual situation. I suppose this is a good thing for the game as there is more variance and less chance of a template forming.

I don’t see too many hauls here, and don’t see much difference in having 8 or 11 players considering the options you’d be missing out on. Just get the big hitters.
Therefore FH is possibly wasted here. If you get 3 LFC + Hazard + a handful of others, you will get the hulk of points up for grabs and will not sacrifice GW points in run up to GW31 by making the changes.
I also own Clyne and think he makes a good option.

I'm thinking three hits as well, Geoff. Reading this HT I have a lot of similar back and forth about when to FH and how many hits to field more players in 31. I don't like hits, but I don't want to ignore good players in the run up to GW31.
The hardest part is that I really want to move out Richarlison and Hazard to get in some players now that don't play in GW31 and 33 (Son this week, making room for Aguero next week). So that feels like going in the wrong direction in terms of planning for the blanks (since it means more work to field a decent team in GW 31 if I stay with FH in 32) but feels like it is maximizing the possibility of returns from now until GW31.

Liverpool have conceded 8 in 13 games on the road this season. The best attacking side in the league could only put 2 past them with 4 shots on target. Surely there are better options.

Thanks to all who replied to my post on the last page...
"I am planning on bringing in a full squad of DGW players for GW32."
Several questions about it being risky. I disagree.
GW31 will be a FH = 11 players
GW32 will BB = Up to a full squad of DGW players (However, I may keep Robertson/Salah)
GW33 = Wildcard - 4 GW35 Subs will be BGW players + Salah/Robertson & 2 others with good fixtures) & 2 other players who I will shift out over the next 2 weeks = 10 players
GW35 = TC & around 8 DGW players
It allows me to keep all of my good players, navigate the single gameweeks well (not losing ground by bringing in inferior players) and overtake people in blank GWs.
Simple tactic and by far the best I can come up with.
Interesting. How do you think your team will look in DGW32? Obviously it’s early now but have you got an idea of what the ideal team looks like?

The 2 keepers and Digne will go and I may keep the 2 Liverpool ( a lot of value in Robertson & Salah can cause a lot of damage in 1 week).
I can then cover any transfers and boost the likes of Camarasa/Bednarek to better options if I have the luxury.
I will be fluid with my final team and still pick on form and fixtures.

Good planning IF you get dgw fixtures prediction right.
That is a concern. However, I can use the tactic and just play the DGWs when they occur regardless. Later DGWs actually makes life better for me. Risky, different, and i will probably either finish inside the top 1k or outside the top 10k as a result.

I've just did a first draft for the next few gameweeks. Only 7 in gameweek 31, and 9 in GW 33, without taking hits. Back to the drawing board
It's going to be boring on FFS for the next few GWs with 90% of managers on here dead ending to GW31and targeting the same small pool of players.
I think the most interesting aspect could be those who keep or invest in City assets, and maybe field 8-9 in 31, against those who ignore them, bring in players who have a fixture, and can field 11.
yeah, I'll be fielding 8/9 max in 31 but then again I've no WC and hence no dead end 😉

GW34 it's Liverpool v Chelsea.
If Chelsea are still in the EL they will play on the Thursday before - therefore game would ordinarily be moved to the Sunday.
However, if Liverpool are still in the CL there is a 50/50 chance they will have to play on the Tuesday afterwards, making the Sunday fixture not viable.
If Chelsea v Brighton is rearranged for GW32, both Liverpool and Chelsea would be free for midweek of GW35, therefore the decision could well be made to move Liverpool v Chelsea from GW34 to midweek GW35.......
Lots of ifs and buts and conjecture of course 🙂 #projectfixturefear
