Chip strategy has been all the talk of the Fantasy community over the last week.

The results of the FA Cup fifth-round ties would have firmed up the approaches of some Fantasy managers towards the Free Hit, Bench Boost, Triple Captain and Wildcard chips – though caused uncertainty among others.

With Joe away on a mid-season break, David, Az and Luke share their thoughts on how to navigate Blank Gameweeks 31 and 33 and how they plan to capitalise on the likely Double Gameweeks of 32 and 35.

Our trio of Scoutcasters also examine the options available to Fantasy managers who have used one or more of their chips already.

One player who will be particularly affected by the Blanks and Doubles is Sergio Aguero, so Luke, Az and David discuss whether ditching the Argentinean striker – or performing the “hokey cokey” with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – remains a viable option given how in form the premium Manchester City forward is.

Continuing their discussion on the Blank Gameweeks, our panel muse on whether any out-of-sorts Chelsea assets are worthy of consideration given that the Blues are now guaranteed a fixture in Gameweeks 31 and 33.

The crew then finish off with a detailed look at their Gameweek 27 transfer moves, captaincy decisions, differential picks and clean sheet prospects.

    How does this team look for BGW 31?

    No bench. Needs a -4 this gw and another in 31. Any better alternatives for Luiz?

        My planned transfer need one of Arnie/King to come in this gw.

        Arnie has far better fixtures from 27 to 31 which swung it for me. Would you still go King?

      Very nice, 11 is plenty especially with two hits! I'm going with 11 and no bench this gameweek and will only have 10 for 31 but with no hits.

        What's putting me off King is that he plays 2 rugged defenses in NEW and BUR in 31 and 33 respectively whereas Arnie has a dream run of fixtures from GW 27 onwards.

      Not sure 11 out is worth -8. I’d go with 9 or 10.

      Also remember 33 where Arsenal and quite possibly Spurs will be available. I’d save a slot for a better 33 player.

        Easy Arnie ➡ Auba transfer in 33 as I will have the change in the bank if I go Rice instead of Luiz.

          That’d make sense.

          The more I think about it 33 seems the more critical week.

          Arnie is a slight punt of course but that -4 could easily pay for itself before 31 if he gets games and us switched on

            33 would be pretty easy to navigate I think with 3 Pool,Auba,Hazard,Higuain,Fraser,Fab,Pereira and a couple of enablers all of which will be there from my BGW 31 team.

              It depends slightly on how Chelsea look then of course. But Brighton to me are only 50% st best to win away at Millwall - that brings Spurs into play too.

          I think I'd rather have the banked transfer, especially when I wouldn't be playing Arnie next week anyway? It could just be my own team construction, but I just don't think Mitro will necessarily do poorly over the next 2? If I save I have a better chance of turning him into Higuain in a few? I will say I think if you do bring him in you captain him.

      We only have 38 transfers per season, not sure many will use a FT on a player who doesn’t have a good next 3 weeks at the best of times

        I might be mistaken, but I reckon we only get 34 FTs. 1FT for each gameweek from 2-38 (= 37), except 3 weeks in which we play WC and FH chip instead of a FT (= 34).

        Regardless, only looking 3 weeks ahead means is a recipe for disaster in my book. Hypothetically, if you were to transfer every player out after 3 weeks, you'd be looking at around 560pts worth of hits. So for me, planning/management/winning is about minimising the risk of running out of FTs or taking hits, whilst simultaneously maximising points. That involves looking ahead of 3 weeks, though taking each successive future week less seriously. 4 Gameweeks ahead is very important, but not as important as 3. 6 Gameweeks ahead is important, but not as important as 5. Etc.

      I think most only look at a maximum of 3 weeks whereas the likes of Ville Ronke and myself tend to look at around 6 and that’s probably the difference.

    Nothing across the last week or so has made my GW27 transfers more simple, but what do you reckon my move(s) should be?

    Ederson // Sterling / Hazard / Ings

    A) Sterling/Ings > Anderson/Aubameyang

    With A or B, it's because I think I prefer Aguero over Sterling. But is the hokey-cokey worth it? Struggkibg to fit both in.

    No one good to move Ings to this week on a straight swap, except for Arnie? Although every time I've had him, he has been gash.

    Can wait on Digne > Pereira as he has Cardiff next. And speaking of Cardiff, Camarasa is becoming more of an issue with his injury concerns. Can move him onto McNeil, but not high priority.

      Just beware though as spurs, city, Chelsea and United are all still involved in Europe and city, United and palace have likely got fa cup games either side of the gw31. You may find that you don't get as many dgw ers as you think. There may be better value in some of the lesser teams or even some sgw ers.
