Maddison overcomes injury doubt as Pereira starts in defence for Leicester

James Maddison (£6.6m) has come through his injury doubts to start for Leicester against Crystal Palace this afternoon.

The central midfielder was yellow-flagged before the game following comments from Claude Puel in his Thursday press conference.

Maddison starts in the number 10 role for the Foxes as their run of appealing fixtures gets underway this weekend.

Ben Chilwell (£5.0m) was not as fortunate as he missed out on a place in the matchday squad through his knock.

Christian Fuchs (£4.1m) makes just his second start of the season at left-back.

The wide attacking midfield slots are occupied by Harvey Barnes (£5.5m) and Rachid Ghezzal (£5.0m) while a recall for Jamie Vardy (£8.8m) sees Demarai Gray (£5.4m) drop to the bench.

As expected, Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.6m) sits out for Crystal Palace, covered at right-back by Joel Ward (£4.3m).

Further up the field for the Eagles, there is a first start for Michy Batshuayi (£6.5m).

Leicester XI: Schmeichel; Fuchs, Maguire, Evans, R Pereira; Tilemans, Ndidi; Barnes, Maddison, Ghezzal; Vardy.

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita; van Aanholt, Sakho, Tomkins, Ward; Schlupp, McArthur, Milivojevic; Zaha, Batshuayi, Townsend.

    Brought in Townsend a couple of weeks ago. Suffice to say he has not really been a decent acquisition. Saying that I brought him in for Fanny so not so bad. Almiron good option as replacement going forward?

        Maybe shows the problem with the group mentality, which is slightly exacerbated by sites like this.
        Leicester bandwagon was crazy this week, despite a very basic look at their results showing they are very unpredictable and have not been particularly good against weak teams this year

                      I recommended Deulofeu to my casual-playing friend 20 mins before the deadline as he was panicking with 7 players blanking (plus Speroni & Schurrle). Despite my advice, he went for McArthur to go with the players he already owned, Deeney and Townsend. Expect McArthur to go on to match Deulofeu's score, as my "casual" friend clearly knows more than me. Townsend destined for a last minute goal too 😆
