Maddison overcomes injury doubt as Pereira starts in defence for Leicester

James Maddison (£6.6m) has come through his injury doubts to start for Leicester against Crystal Palace this afternoon.

The central midfielder was yellow-flagged before the game following comments from Claude Puel in his Thursday press conference.

Maddison starts in the number 10 role for the Foxes as their run of appealing fixtures gets underway this weekend.

Ben Chilwell (£5.0m) was not as fortunate as he missed out on a place in the matchday squad through his knock.

Christian Fuchs (£4.1m) makes just his second start of the season at left-back.

The wide attacking midfield slots are occupied by Harvey Barnes (£5.5m) and Rachid Ghezzal (£5.0m) while a recall for Jamie Vardy (£8.8m) sees Demarai Gray (£5.4m) drop to the bench.

As expected, Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.6m) sits out for Crystal Palace, covered at right-back by Joel Ward (£4.3m).

Further up the field for the Eagles, there is a first start for Michy Batshuayi (£6.5m).

Leicester XI: Schmeichel; Fuchs, Maguire, Evans, R Pereira; Tilemans, Ndidi; Barnes, Maddison, Ghezzal; Vardy.

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita; van Aanholt, Sakho, Tomkins, Ward; Schlupp, McArthur, Milivojevic; Zaha, Batshuayi, Townsend.

    The crazy thing about GW31 is how unpredictable the other teams besides Liverpool and Fulham are.

    Really hard to read those fixtures, which is an argument both for avoiding and fielding a minimal team, and for avoiding and using a free hit to save yourself the headache of owning them outside the BGW.

          3 Liverpool maybe 2 Chelsea if form improves. Couple of cheap filler defenders Boruc 2nd GK 4m and Salah C and you'll beat most FH teams. Where's the problem?

          Take 2 FT into 31 and do hits then. FH32 and then you have all the 31 players back for 33

            Interesting list, though still not convinced yet about FH32 yet since I might have most of the big picks in hand already.

            You're right about working the edges of the squad if nothing else is pressing in 28-30 as I won't want to mess with the core of my team, just want to figure out if getting the BGWers or DGWers in those slots is the best route.

                He's talking about 31/33... the inbetween will be FH. So a hit for a player that doesn't play either is going to make up for it. Only problem is losing value tied up in a player (like many United/wolves assets)
