Key Leicester assets all start as Rodgers becomes boss

Leicester City’s key Fantasy assets have all kept their places for the first game after Claude Puel’s reign came to a close.

Brendan Rodgers’ arrival at the King Power Stadium was confirmed around the same time as the team news was released.

He will see Jamie Vardy (£8.8m), Harvey Barnes (£5.5m), James Maddison (£6.6m), Demarai Gray (£5.4m) and Ricardo Pereira (£5.4m) all in the starting line-up.

There was also a return to the side for Ben Chilwell (£5.0m) after he missed Gameweek 27.

There will also be plenty of interest in the Wolves side as they head to Huddersfield.

Nuno Espirito Santo has named the usual suspects in his starting XI, with Raúl Jiménez (£6.8m), Matt Doherty (£5.4m) and Diogo Jota (£6.1m) all involved from the beginning.

It will be interesting to see how they get on against a Terriers side that has run eight chances after Saturday’s defeat to Newcastle.

Everton are now back in FPL action for the first time since Gameweek 26, and they have done so with minimal changes.

Richarlison (£6.6m), Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.2m) and Lucas Digne (£5.3m) are all on the team-sheet to face Cardiff, who have also made the usual number of changes to their attacking line-up.

There will be plenty of interest in the 8pm televised kick-off between Newcastle and Burnley.

That game features two popular budget strikers in Salomón Rondón (£5.9m) and Ashley Barnes (£5.7m).

Miguel Almirón (£6.0m), unfortunate to blank on his full home debut, is also in the starting line-up for the Magpies.

Kenneth Zohoré (£4.6m) starts up front, with Junior Hoilett (£5.0m), Bobby Reid (£5.2m) and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (£4.8m) behind him.

Cardiff XI: Etheridge; Bennett, Bamba, Morrison, Ecuele Manga; Gunnarsson, Bacuna; Hoilett, Reid, Mendez-Laing; Zohoré.

Everton XI: Pickford; Digne, Jagielka, Keane, Coleman; Gueye, Schneiderlin; Richarlison, Sigurdsson, Walcott; Calvert-Lewin.

Huddersfield XI: Lössl; Stankovic, Schindler, Kongolo; Duhaney, Hogg, Billing, Durm; Pritchard; Mounie, Grant.

Wolves XI: Rui Patrício; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Doherty, Dendoncker, Rúben Neves, João Moutinho, Jonny; Jiménez, Diogo Jota

Leicester XI: Schmeichel; Ricardo Pereira, Evans, Maguire, Chilwell; Tielemans, Ndidi, Maddison; Gray, Vardy, Barnes.

Brighton XI: Ryan; Montoya, Duffy, Dunk, Bong; Groß, Stephens, Pröpper; Knockaert, Murray, March.

Newcastle XI: Dubravka; Lejeune, Lascelles, Schär; Ritchie, Longstaff, Hayden, Manquillo; Perez, Almirón; Rondón.

Burnley XI: Heaton; Taylor, Mee, Tarkowski, Bardsley; McNeil, Hendrick, Cork, Gudmundsson; Wood, Barnes.

The AWB Injury really forced my hand.

Would have avoided 0 + 2 and got him in for Digne (5) after this week!

Probably would have still benched Maddison, but hey-ho, at leady they're on for the BGWs already.

I'll be considering this one this week

    Sané + Son + Auba + Rash ➡ Kanté + Hazard + Higuain + Aguero (-8)

    All eyes on Chelsea!

Yup, I’ve just pulled the trigger on Son + Auba to Haz + Aguero. I would prefer to wait but had the exact money. I could be regretting it this time tomorrow if either gets injured!

You reckon Kante is the best 3rd option? I'm going for Luiz myself.

      1. Deulofail
        • 8 Years
        5 years, 1 month ago

I originally planned to get Luiz and Azpi but if I go for Hazard and Higuain (and Aguero), I have to downgrade a midfielder (Son) to raise those kind of funds.

Luiz better than Kante, probably, but I think that's a small trade-off to make.

Working it into the strategy is hard though. If I want to FH in 31, I want 3 Chelsea for GW32-33. But with 3 Chelsea I don't really need to FH in 31, 32 or 33. I can get out around 9 in 31, 9 DGWer in 32 (before FTs), and 9 in 33 I think (before FTs). So I look further ahead, but there's nowhere really after then where fixtures dictate a decent FH. Maybe GW38? Haha

If I make the above transfers, I'd have this in GW29. I could make one more transfer in GW30/31, and save the other.

            Boruc
            Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Digne, Clyne
            Hazard, Kante
            Higuain, Solanke

Patrício | Aguero, Doherty, Martial, Sterling, Pogba

            Then in GW 32:

            Patrício
            Doherty
Martial, Sterling (V), Pogba (C), Hazard, Kante
            Higuain, Aguero,

Boruc | Solanke, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Digne, Clyne

And that's without using the 2FTs or the one before it. Plus you can add the TC chip for an extra fixture. I could use FH to save me if DGWs turn out to be unexpected. Then in GW33:

            Boruc
            Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Digne, Clyne
            Hazard, Kante
            Higuain, Solanke

Patrício | Aguero, Doherty, Martial, Sterling, Pogba

Again without using a transfer. Maybe I made a mistake somewhere along the line... But doesn't seem too difficult to navigate without the FH unless the DGW announcement dissapoints.

Oh I thought you meant 9 players with double fixtures in 32. I was genuinely scared. But this looks pretty solid. You could spread a little to Newcastle and Leicester too.

The problem I see is that every GW, 31, 32 & 33, is a compromise and results in mediocrity. There is no maximising the run up to DGW32, no maximising DGW32 itself and you are scraping through BGW31 & 33 ... but for what ?

I think you are trying to be too clever by trying to be different, and we still don’t know the double gameweek fixtures yet

              imho 🙂

              1. Deulofail
                • 8 Years
                5 years, 1 month ago

Appreciate your honesty, and I agree that I'm not maximising fixtures. But even the compromises have pros.

Also, I think the run up to GW31/32 is more maximised that the average team bringing in the likes of Barnes and Barnes, too.

I can always decide in GW32 what strategy to take.

I don't see how I'm scraping through the blanks compared to others. Besides, as I said, if I stick to FH31 plan, I will have at least 9 players in GW31, so the FH may only be worth 2 fixtures. Yet having planned this previously, I have players I want to play in GW32, so FH might only be worth a couple of fixtures there, after TC (sure, it's too early to tell).

I'm not going to buy players I don't want just to maximise fixtures. That was the reason for FH31 in the first place. But even buying the players I want, I get at least 9 for GW33 too (possibly 11 for free!).

So I'm just looking for alternatives now. Or I may be come GW32.

Ya was thinking about him too, but seems to rely on creativity and set pieces and doesn't get into box too much. The other two look more involved.

Is it likely GW32 is not a big DGW as we expect which is the basis of FH idea.
I am concerned it wont be announced until GW31. Will there be time from then to organise extra fixtured in a week??
