How the Top 10k are looking ahead of Blank Gameweek 31

This article examines how the Fantasy managers that sit in the top 10,000 (at the point of the Gameweek 30 deadline) are shaping up ahead of Blank Gameweek 31.

Studying the most-owned players in Gameweek 30, seven of the “template team” are without a Premier League fixture next weekend.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.5m), Matt Doherty (£5.4m), Paul Pogba (£9.0m), Son Heung-min (£8.8m), Raul Jimenez (£6.9m), Sergio Aguero (£11.9m) and Marcus Rashford (£7.7m) blank in Gameweek 31 due to the clash with the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Doherty, Wan-Bissaka, Pogba, Jimenez and Aguero are each owned by around 50% of FPL managers or more in the top 10,000.

11.2% of the top 10k own all five of these players.

As the graphic below shows, three of the four clubs with the most representation in the top 10k are without a Premier League match in Gameweek 31.

The combined average number of players just from Wolves, Manchester United, Manchester City and Crystal Palace in the top 10,000 FPL squads is 5.3, suggesting there are plenty of these elite managers who aren’t yet in a position to field a full complement of Fantasy players in Gameweek 31.

Chip Usage

43.5% of FPL managers inside the top 10,000 have all four of their chips – Wildcard, Free Hit, Bench Boost and Triple Captain – still available, as the below graphic shows.

Over 25% of the top 10k have already used two or more of their chips going into Blank Gameweek 31.

The breakdown below shows which chips have already been used by our leading FPL bosses.

Almost 32% of the FPL bosses inside the top 10,000 have already used their second Wildcard, while 2,207 of these managers will have to navigate the weeks ahead without their Free Hit chip.

More than one in six of these managers have already deployed their Bench Boost chip.

All of these Fantasy assets have league fixtures in Gameweek 31.

Almost 9% of the top 10,000 managers look primed for a rank hike after Raheem Sterling‘s (£11.4m) hat-trick on Saturday evening.

      I can´t decide which looks best.

      Newcastle and Burnley both suspect in defending set pieces, Maddison and Fraser could benefit, so a double with them looks good but then Haz loves to play Everton and Wilson and Fraser very often assist each other. Barnes prosper when Leicester are ahead in matches good in counter attack so that pick reliant on how you picture how the Burnley-Leicester game pans out. B gives you the juicy Maddy-Vardy double who can give you assist and goal in one sequence.

      Defenders touch did not significantly changed the ball´s intended direction is used here i believe. Can´t argue with that but since the rules of offside deemed Sterling not to be in offside because of that touch from the defender (correctly judged by the ref by the way) creates a "new" situation the FPL rule regarding assist regards this as an assist makes a conundrum but FPL gives a good dam about offside rules when giving points-). Strange situation. I thought when it was deemed a goal that assist to Kun was not to be given, but looking at it by the rules it is correct.

    Digging reading the banter between luck and skill. I’ve watched more EPL than anyone in the states I know. Literally DVR games and try to watch ALL of them.
    In 9 years, never been less than 2000 and never been over 2200.
    Maybe I’m wrong, but I absolutely believe it is CAPTAINCY luck mixed with savvy and skill with avoiding hits and using chips.
    In all those years, had Kun as a Cap for a huge day against the Toons, and beyond that I’ve hit a few.
    Lost to a guy one year who had simply unbelievable CAPT luck. Berbatovs 5 goals will ring forever. He was uncanny in always getting the big haul. But after that one year, he’s been gash ever since.

      Kind of agree with you, but i´d say the luck is not in the pickings but how fragile the points difference could be in terms of incidents in the matches. It´s not luck involved in picking the wright ones but sometimes you have luck/unluck with the pick. Kun not to score with a header yesterday is unlucky and potentially 10 points swing, and also the bps system causes a luck element as sometimes a goal can give 9 points if the match unfolds in favour of the goal scored by your captain but in some other game that goal gets you 6. In essence, luck plays a huge part but as the old adage says, luck often comes with skill.

      I feel like they should remove the assist points off Aguero. The whole reason why they gave the goal is because it came off Janmaat. If there was no contact, Ref would’ve called it offside - no goal. Doesn’t really help when my mini league leader has Aguero but anyways. Let’s see what happens
