Dugout Discussion

Mane fit to start with Liverpool unchanged from Gameweek 30

Fulham face Liverpool in the first of two Premier League matches to take place on Sunday afternoon.

Kick-off at Craven Cottage is at 14:15 GMT.

Having been the source of much discussion after his absence from Liverpool’s training ground photographs on Friday, Sadio Mane is fit to start for the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp has made two changes from the side that defeated Bayern Munich in midweek, with Fabinho and Adam Lallana replacing James Milner and the injured Jordan Henderson.

That means Liverpool are unchanged from Gameweek 30, when they defeated Burnley 4-2.

Of the most-captained Fantasy Premier League players who are “active” in Blank Gameweek 31, three of the top four are Liverpool assets: Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

The Egyptian has been handed the armband by over 1.7 million FPL managers, while Mane has been captained by just under 725,000 Fantasy bosses.

Firmino has been trusted with the captaincy by almost 200,000 Fantasy Premier League managers.

Mane was the most-bought midfielder of Gameweek 31, having been transferred in by just under 250,000 FPL bosses.

Salah, perhaps surprisingly given the reduced number of top-flight fixtures this weekend, suffered a net loss of 37,072 transfers.

Firmino, Salah and Mane’s away record in the Premier League is identical in 2019: all three have scored just one goal in five appearances on the road and haven’t registered a single assist between them.

Fulham’s unwelcome record of conceding two or more goals in every Premier League match this calendar year continued last weekend, however, and they have recorded just two clean sheets all season.

Scott Parker has made four changes to his starting XI from the team that lost to Leicester City, with Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Jean Michael Seri, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Floyd Ayite replacing Kevin McDonald, Ryan Sessegnon, Denis Odoi and Havard Nordtveit.

Calum Chambers looks to have moved back to centre-half, with Parker sticking with a 4-2-3-1 set-up.

Brighton and Hove Albion are also in action this afternoon, meanwhile.

The Seagulls face Millwall in the FA Cup quarter-finals, with a win for Chris Hughton’s side meaning that their Gameweek 33 clash with Tottenham Hotspur will have to be rearranged.

Albion already have matches against Chelsea and Cardiff City yet to be rescheduled and would have potentially have three Double Gameweeks if they progress in the 14:00 GMT kick-off at the Den.

Fulham XI (4-2-3-1): Rico, Fosu-Mensah, Chambers, Ream, Bryan, Seri, Anguissa, Babel, Cairney, Ayite, Mitrovic.

Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Matip, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Lallana, Salah, Mane, Firmino.

Brighton and Hove Albion XI (4-3-3): Ryan, Montoya, Duffy, Dunk, Bernardo, Kayal, Stephens, Propper, Jahanbakhsh, Murray, Knockaert.
