FFS Cup

The latest FFS Cup fixtures and results

The third round of our latest FFS Cup took place in Blank Gameweek 31.

There were 128 Fantasy managers remaining in our tournament before Saturday’s deadline but only two were former FFS Cup winners.

One of those site users, donnellyc, bowed out after a narrow 35-34 loss to TwiggsJameson.

Our other former champion, 2EyedTurk, lives to fight another day after a 32-28 win over Homer21.

The highest-ranked team in the round-of-128, Deporhostia, exited the competition after being pipped 42-43 by space.

That means we have only one manager remaining who sits inside the top 1,000: HBCAMPBELL, who has an overall rank of 931 after Gameweek 31.

Rotation/s Alter Ego and G-Whizz both entered the top 10k this weekend and our two mods both progressed to the last 64 after comfortable victories.

There was one draw in the third round: rselfy123 squeaking past Dream_team_legend due to a superior overall rank.

Lal Toofan beat Taking the Mkhitaryan 39-32 and is now just ten places behind his Gameweek 31 opponent in the overall FPL rankings.

Vulken is the Fantasy manager with the lowest OR (1,723,241) who still remains in the competition.

The third round results were as follows:

At Watford, Gracia has three forwards available to him - Deeney, Deulofeu and Gray.

Assuming his first choice team will be for the cup semi, that is Deeney & Deulofeu (as it has been most season) with a sub appearance for Gray (could be for either of them or someone else entirely, it’s not consistently like for like).

Does that mean that Andre Gray might be the best Watford option? He might get both league games in DGW32 and a sub appearance in the cup? Or at least a full league appearance and a near-guaranteed 30 mins in the other league game?

Missing Success out here. Nope Gray is not a good option.

But there's also cup glory. Let's be real. It's the semi-final of a major tournament. They won't field significantly weaker teams for the league, but they will definitely be more amped for the cup.

What teams play GW 33 AND have a double in GW35?

Arsenal only right? Planning to buy Lacazette for GW 33 for that reason.

Ah yes. Southampton. But they could have their double in GW 32 instead.

What's the point of having Euro 2020 qualifiers? I thought the Nations League was replacing it but we've still got 8 games against dross to get though. They should just skip it, go straight to a finals tournament.

They are indeed even more pointless now than ever for countries with the top leagues and decent national teams, but most countries who have poor leagues live for internationals, and majority rules usually.

Then this sounds like a good step towards more equality that is badly needed in a money-driven sport.

Agree - but turkey's don't vote for Christmas, so I can fully understand why avid followers of the PL see the IBs as nothing more than a big pain in the backside!

The Nations Cup will replace friendlies and the additional qualifiers for 3rd placed teams. The regular qualifiers stay the same (except for the 3rd spot).

I would just say to the small countries, look, we'll give you two friendlies each, at you place, so you can make money. So that is each big country gives the group of small countries two games in a two year period (what was the qualifying period). So for example, Englad play Andorra and Luxembourg at their place in 2018 - 2019, France play Estonia and Azerbajan, Spain have two others and so on, then it rotates in the next two year period. The small countries have their own qualifying tournament between them to get into the Euro finals (and even the World Cup but that's probably a different issue). Then, with the time saved, we can play decent friendlies against each other and top African, Asian, South American sides.

        1. Pariße
          • 9 Years

The revenues from games between the small teams would then be considerably smaller in comparison to the elite games and the problem just got bigger.

But those two games for them at home against big teams is about all they are getting anyway and the real reason they are worse is they have a small population.

How does this team look instead of FH team filled with all the mainstream players:

    Ederson
    Robertson, TAA, Shaw, AWB
    Hazard (TVC), Sterling, Barnes (BOU)
    Higuain, Aguero (TC), Jimenez

Nice, yeah I’d be scared of Aguero too. With my current team
I fear not owning Kane or Pogba, but I feel their fixtures aren’t easy at all.

Kane's ownership or fixtures aren't too great so he's a non issue by and large.

Aguero is a beast at home so I'm hoping he gets benched for Cardiff lol

The difficulty is that Liverpool play Spurs, but I think a clean sheet is possible and these 2 have a good chance of attacking returns.

    Ederson

    David Luiz, Kolasinac, Schlupp

    Aguero, Rashford, Jimenez

He's the in-form player right now so I can see why. If I've learned anything from past dgws, is that single gw players are very capable of punishing you.

Saying that, I'll be filling my FH team with double gameweekers and will moan about this later.

Yep that's my thinking here. It's easy to obsess over DGW players too much and then watch them all blank twice

        See below haha

Can't afford Hazard. Expect Liverpool to beat Spurs, so someone is going to score their goals... Mane as likely as anyone

Sometimes I think a DGW can be a red herring where you get blinded to players who are on good form anyway but only have one fixture

Just one Chelsea is criminal. They have the best fixtures of any double GW team. Disinterested Brighton and Car. I'd double on their defense at the very least and Hazard still looking like a good option over Son or Mane.

      1. Rewenge
        • 8 Years
        5 years, 12 days ago

Yeah that one might be a bit more hunchy/'eye test' - they've looked really poor, and inconsistent, recently. Hazard makes me sacrifice on other players, and I've not got enough trust in the defence to double up there.

      2. Rewenge
        • 8 Years

Also, if Man City vs Cardiff gets confirmed for 32, then surely they have the best DGW fixtures? Fulham away, Cardiff at home... would back City to run riot in those far more than Chelsea in theirs

Fair but Chelsea's are still easily second best. And I'd argue their assets are more nailed on too. City can easily decide to rotate their wingers and Aguero probably has 60 mins in each game if City are leading.

Yeah, but it's coming down to funds as well. My total value is only 103.3 (disastrous mid-season, let's not go there), so when I FH I have, I think, 101.9 to play with. Double Chelsea defence or Hazard hits me hard elsewhere

It's very similar to mine (see above) except that I fancy Kolasinac for a CS and assist vs Newcastle at home more than I fancy Man Utd CS vs Watford and Wolves, and I can't afford Hazard, plus kind of fancy Mane to carry on his form vs Spurs anyway and sceptical about Chelsea attacking form

I agree with the possibility of an assist for Kola, but have you seen Arsenal defend this season? Especially Kola!

Seriously disagree. I think MUN are very good choice defense. They'll be fresher, they're up against two teams still in the cup with nothing to play for. I think they're much better.

Also have you seen Newcastle lately? They've scored two or more every game except away at WHU

All good points, I just looked up Newcastle's recent results and got a surprise. Also good points about Watford and Wolves (although don't agree that they have nothing to play for, think they are both having great PL seasons and are going for 7th place trophy). MUN defence has been poor all season but you may have swayed me.

And both opponents play each other in the cup semi the following weekend. They won't go full strength 3 times in 8 days.

For Watford it makes more sense to rest players against United because realistically they have a far better chance of winning the midweek fixture. For Wolves it also makes more sense to rest against United because that'll be a high intensity game which isn't ideal right before the semi.

Milli on Pens and set pieces makes him a good option. I think zaha is the stand out player in that team and also wins quite a lot of pens. Bats has done ok since joining, always rated him as a decent finisher tbh. Obviously the HUD game is probably the best fixture you can ask for then you get a free swing at a London derby and palace seem to do pretty well away from home.

        Kepa
        Luiz Laporte PvA
        Pog Sterling Alli Hazard
        Bat Kun Jim

Just switched out of Bilva to Laporte. Think I’ll end up with AWB and Rash with no Jim

          I'm looking for

          Kepa
          Luiz Schlupp Duffy
          Hazard Sterling Pogba Bilva
          Kun Lukaku Jimenez

Do you think it's better to chose Jimenez over Rashford to double up on Chelsea defense ??

Don’t like double Chelsea defence that much really. See Liverpool Fulham!! Duffy is also on my radar.

I think it should really be Rash over Jim. I don’t trust Lukaku unless you have both him and Rash then I like it a lot.

It seems unless you have insane transfer value most teams are coming down to an attacking decision between Kane or Hazard.

Aguero, Rashford, Zaha - with Hazard
            or
            Aguero, Kane, Rashford/Zaha/Jimenez with Son/Dele/Silva

Watford v Fulham is the more likely DGW in 32.
Which means Southampton v Fulham moves to 35 - or so most seem to think, obviously nothing confirmed, but should it go that way you will need to rethink.

I have the same front three, and Sterling, Pogba, B.Silva and Milivojevic, and a 4.5m defender instead of Valery.

                        Supposedly by Wednesday.
It'll be TV scheduling holding it up.
United v Wolves is already televised on Sky.
I guess Sky also want to show the new Spurs stadium, and the Man City game....maybe they are trying to get the City game moved to the Thursday? Just guessing here though.

Southampton playing on the Friday in GW33 also increases the chances of them not playing midweek in 32.

Hi guys, no FH this week

Rondon + Vardy > Kun (TC) + Rashers?

I think most players seem to be captaining Sterling this week. Seems quite safe and he probably has more minutes than any of the other City assets. Would actually be quite good for the game if he picked up a knock playing for England. That would definitely put a cat among the pigeons.

Aguero for me. No international games, less competition

                Wait till first is over.
Pep will call the officials & tell them that Raz has back pain 😉

Bdw I'm looking @ Aguero © because i think he'll start both matches.

Anybody got any reasoning on whether Mane is going to punish those FH-ing him out for DGW players?

Looking at options around his price bracket would rather have Haz (car,BHA) or Pogba (WAT,wol) over Mane (TOT) any day of the week.

Sorry about the noob question. You'd think someone who's played the game for such a long time shouldn't have these concerns.

I've already taken a hit for this week (don't ask). Got Pogba and Auba in. But I always planned on playing FH in 32. Now when I activate it, I know the hit gets cancelled but do my transfers get reversed too?

So in GW 33 will I have Pogba and Auba in my team ?
