Fixtures

Which FPL players are on international duty ahead of Double Gameweek 32?

A week of international fixtures gets underway today, with Germany and Wales among the countries in action this evening.

This is the final international break of 2018/19 and falls before the biggest Double Gameweek of the season, so there will be a nervy wait for Fantasy managers as we keep our fingers crossed for an injury-free seven days.

This article gives a club-by-club rundown on which assets will be away from their sides during this period, also detailing the dates in which these players will be competing for their respective countries.

There are several high-profile names missing from this list, of course.

Mohamed Salah (£13.3m) won’t be linking up with Egypt, while Aymeric Laporte (£5.9m) and Sergio Aguero (£11.8m) will not be representing their respective countries either.

Alexandre Lacazette (£9.4m) was omitted from the France national squad, while Gonzalo Higuain (£9.6m), like Aguero, wasn’t selected by Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni.

Marcos Alonso (£6.4m), Cesar Azpilicueta (£6.3m) and Jonny (£4.3m) won’t feature for Spain, meanwhile.

There are a cluster of players whose countries are scheduled to be in action in the early hours of Wednesday March 27 who then face a long-haul flight back from the Americas: Tim Ream (£4.2m), Antonio Valencia (£6.4m), DeAndre Yedlin (£4.5m), Miguel Almiron (£6.0m), Fabian Balbuena (£4.2m), Javier Hernandez (£6.1m) and Raul Jimenez (£6.8m).

It may be, however, that some of those players have been the subject of agreements between club and country to return to the UK before their respective nations’ second fixture over the international break, as has been the case before.

The good news for owners of Argentina and Brazil assets is that those two countries aren’t playing their two international friendlies in South America, although Argentina travel to Morocco on Tuesday.

Sadio Mane (£10.0m) is amongst the popular Fantasy options in action in Africa on Tuesday, while Son Heung-min (£8.6m) will be heading over to Asia for a double-header with South Korea – the second fixture being contested on Tuesday morning (UK time).

It's tough, Deu is better but may play less, throw in Townsend playing Spurs at their new stadium and it's possible he could spoil the party? ....

I'd rate him as a major diff. and would not be shocked if he did well.

I think I’m going with him then - that Huddersfield game is tempting and Deu may be well rested vs Fulham!

      I have similar looking team.

My defence shapes up as :-

      Ederson
      Luiz - Lindelof - Wan-Bassaka

Same defence except Kane for Jimenez.

    Good day,

My 3rd Man City slot will go to [Mendy] with a substitute defender in the scenario he does not start. Although, I think he will start and be the pick in defense this gameweek.

    What about yourselves.
Who is your 3rd City slot player.

      that's very risky. Laporte myself.

        Thanks for feedback

I think you feel it's risky because you might waste a third Man City slot if Mendy doesn't play.

However, none of the other city options being mentioned are that appealing...to me at least.

as far as defenders go, Ederson and Laporte are pretty nailed. But I get the huge upside that a fit Mendy has of course

Overall was getting Wilson in for a -4 hit a good move last week even though it mean me benching Maddison and missing out on his points last week?

Means I now can save FT in 33 after the FH in 32 as have 12 players currently (including Anderson away at Chelsea) which will come in handy with no WC left to prepare for DGW35

This is a good point. If it somehow doesn't involve someone like aguero or sterling you could get a double rise.

Or look out for any of your current squad with an odd number of rises and hope they'll go up.

A word of warning for those free hitting GW32. If you own the likes of Doherty and Jimenez and later have doubts about whether they will play both games so swap them out for other players, it will probably cost you TV to reinstate them in your GW32 team. So you should delay the elements in your FH squad that can be delayed if they affect finances.
