How Sterling’s position change has affected his FPL form

With four goals and three assists over the international break, Raheem Sterling‘s (£11.6m) sky-high Fantasy stock has reached stratospheric levels as we approach Double Gameweek 32.

The Manchester City winger scored a hat-trick in his last Premier League appearance, too, bringing his total number of double-digit hauls in 2018/19 to eight – four of them coming in this calendar year alone.

Sterling registers more Fantasy Premier League points per match on average (7.3) than any other top-flight player this season and it seems likely that there will be few active FPL managers going into Gameweek 32 without his services.

Having started the first four league matches of 2019 on the right wing, Sterling has switched over to the left flank in his last six top-flight appearances.

It was, indeed, from a starting role on the left of a 4-3-3 that Sterling scored his hat-tricks for City and England over the last three weeks.

The imminent return to fitness of Kevin De Bruyne (£9.7m) and Fernandinho (£5.3m) could be a significant development in terms of Sterling’s starting position, as it would allow Bernardo Silva (£7.5m) to return to the right-wing role that Pep Guardiola has largely used the Portuguese midfielder in since Gameweek 25.

That would leave Sterling free to play on the left flank – although with Riyad Mahrez (£8.2m) and Leroy Sane (£9.3m) also champing at the bit for a start, there could be any number of permutations in City’s front three in the upcoming matches against Cardiff City and Fulham.

Nevertheless, Guardiola has clearly favoured Sterling on the left flank since the beginning of February and it is perhaps worth comparing his output on either wing ahead of Double Gameweek 32.

    Morning,

Currently on 2 drafts for fh.

    Bit more safe is:

    Kepa
    Schlupp lind Luiz
    Haz pog sterling dilva deule
    Rash kun

    Or top heavy

    Guita
    Schlupp boly lind
    Haz pog sterling dilva deule
    Kun hig

So burning question is play cautious or go top heavy looking at city and Chelsea fixture and hoping for goals??

I'd go for Kaku, use the 2 mill to get a better mid and play 3-4-3 or upgrade Foster

    I think I am finally happy with my GW32 FH team;

    Ederson
    Azpi Luiz Smalling
    Hazard Sterling Pogba Milli
    Zaha Kun(c) Rashford.

Obviously Zaha and Rashford depend on pressers.

    Any feedback is much appreciated!

Which one of the following combinations you'd prefer on FH? I'd be tempted to select Maddison as sgw player over e.g. Milivojevic if I go for that option.

    A) Jimenez, Maddison, Luiz, Azpi
    B) Jimenez, Son, Luiz, Schlupp
    C) Batshuayi, Son, Azpi, Schlupp

I really want three City attacking assets with those juicy fixtures..! But of course rotation is a true problem.

Can D.Silva & De Bruyne play on the same time (one on the left and one on the right) if Bruyne is now back?

For example B.Silva played two full games in IB.. D.Silva is fresh now and has started every game City's previous double GW's..

I know, at least not in the league so far. But maybe a start for England will turn that around? Weak opponents as well so could get a chance or something of the bench. Don't really expect much for a 4.2M anyway, need the money elsewhere

    A = 352

    Ederson

    Kane -- Aguero

    B = 442

    Ederson
    Luiz-- Boly --Schlupp -- Dunk
    Hazard -- Sterling -- Pogba -- Deulofeu
    Kane -- Aguero

Please Help me choose between these two teams!! Lindelof & Hudson Odoi (risky but united cover) or Boly & Dunk??

Choice of mid below 6.2 is not great. Doucoure ?

Also will fernandinho be fit ? In view of the 2 easy fixtures city have he could be a great cheap punt.

Seen loads of posts/comments that Luiz might not be nailed for both matches in GW32.

He’s missed only 2 league matches all season, and just had 2 weeks off as he wasn’t in the Brazil squad. To me, that makes it look pretty likely he’ll play both in DGW32.

Anyone care to tell me why he might not, apart from by saying he “isn’t nailed”

Managed to get 6 dgw players including Raheem and Sergio for just -4 and the remaining 5 aren’t terrible picks.
I’d planned for a FH this week but with my TC in my pocket too I’m no sure whether I’ll get a better opportunity to play my TC, then play my FH gw 33.

So what’s more potent this week a FH or a TC?!?

    1. Ajax Hamsterdam
      • 9 Years
      5 years, 25 days ago

I'm in the same boat. I have 10 dgws players ( 9 if AWB is out ) for -8. I just feel TC is just too good to miss this gw with city fixtures being absolutely amazing.

      1. JackQualt
        • 7 Years
        5 years, 25 days ago

It’s difficult, I guess it comes down to when else you’d play your TC, GW 38?
There’s definitely less risk of the FH missing this week

Fairly sure Kun will be captain of choice for most - and you need to remember that Kun has much higher ownership as well.

TC Sterling is the way to go to make up ground in my book. TC Kun will be one extra set of points TC Sterling two sets

We need to discuss Hudson- Odoi.

Do you think there is a chance he starts one of the double? Surely he has to start at some point and with his England performances, the pressure on Sarri to play him and the ease of fixtures (on paper) then it seems like a perfect opportunity.

Therefore is there a case to be made for him to be the 4th midfield enabler? As cheap as they come and IF he does get a start then has a good opportunity to get points. It seems there is an element of risk for a 4th midfielder in terms of playing, for example Delofeu is heavily touted but could just as easily only start 1, or a relative low ceiling for a 4th defender so perhaps Hudson-Odoi could be the answer!?

    Interested to hear people's thoughts.
