How the top 10k set up for Double Gameweek 32

The Free Hit was the most used chip among the top 10,000 Fantasy Premier League managers in Double Gameweek 32.

45.5% of those in that echelon of the world rankings pressed the button to get a ‘one week only’ squad for this expanded round of fixtures.

That large number of deployments for the Free Hit takes the total usage of the chip among the top 10k to 95.5%.

Therefore, just 4.5% of managers of that calibre have it left to play. When they will use it remains to be seen.

It could prove useful in Blank Gameweek 33 or perhaps in Double Gameweek 35, depending on what other chips they have left.

As you can see from the table above, the Free Hit wasn’t the only chip to receive widespread usage in Double Gameweek 32.

The Triple Captain was played by 27.8% of managers inside the top 10k – not as much attention as the Free Hit, but a sizeable amount nonetheless.

Overall, there 310,000+ managers who played it to triple-up Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.8m) score, which currently stands at 10 points in Double Gameweek 32.

If he starts against Cardiff in midweek, after Pep Guardiola claimed the Argentinian was not injured following a second-half substitution, then those who did opt for the Triple Captain could experience exceptional scores.

We now know that 56.39% among the top 10k have now used the chip, but also that 43.61% of the current high-level managers still have not found the right time for it.

The best looking upcoming opportunities seem to either be on a Brighton player for their two fixtures in Double Gameweek 34, on a selection of two-match options in Double Gameweek 35 or in a single Gameweek.

Overall chip usage in Double Gameweek 32

Chip deployment amongst all players was quite different from what we saw in the top 10k as we saw the Triple Captain received more total activations than any other chip this weekend.

As of Friday afternoon, 258,000+ managers had opted for boosting their skipper in Double Gameweek 32, while just 129,956 had played the Free Hit.

In the end it was used by 10.8% of all managers, while the Free Hit was turned to by just 3.9%.

That is probably not a surprise after the Free Hit received extensive attention among overall players in Blank Gameweek 31 instead – and probably why so many were able to play their Triple Captain in Double Gameweek 32.

Those managers in the top 10k who played the Free Hit do look to be slightly better set up for Double Gameweek 32 compared to everyone else.

However, the overall template actually still has a large number of players with two fixtures over the next few days anyway.

11 of the most popular 15 players in the top 10k are ones with two fixtures in Double Gameweek 32, while 10 are from the overall’s most fashionable assets.

The main difference between the two theoretical squads seems to be Liverpool players. Surprisingly, there are still two of them in the top 10k’s most popular selection although there are five in the overall group.

There are not too many differences between the Free Hit squads when rank is considered.

Both groups had a general preference for the same front three with Aguero, Marcus Rashford (£7.6m) and Raúl Jiménez (£6.8m) the most popular in each.

The Manchester City man was more fashionable among the top 10k, while Rashford was more popular overall compared to his standing in the upper echelon.

The same five midfielders were the favourites across the rankings although the order was different.

Raheem Sterling (£11.6m), Eden Hazard (£11.0m) and Paul Pogba (£8.9m) all had 92% ownership or more among top 10k Free Hitters, while they were all below 84% backing in Free Hit squads overall.

Oriol Romeu Vidal (£4.2m) was seen as a handy budget man in midfield.

The main difference comes in defence where the top 10k seemed a lot more confident of Chelsea clean sheets.

Kepa Arrizabalaga (£5.4m), Cesar Azpilicueta (£6.3m) and David Luiz (£6.0m) were all among the most popular options in the top 10k, while only the latter and the Blues’ goalkeeper made the cut overall, with lower backing too.

        Cheers

Tbh I picked him as it meant I could maintain my chosen mids and still have a strong defence. Alternative was Higgy with a weak back row so will see tomorrow how badly that choice went!

He is not proven in the PL just yet, Zaha was a much better pick had the injury issue been cleared by Hogson but of course it was a risk picking him. I would go Jimi even if he plays 1 game than Batman tbh. Not for me.

I have a feeling it’ll end up being an anticlimax!

There is a cash league where i was close to the top 3 few weeks back, in the top 10k OR. Now I am 19th! And almost everyone is using their FH this gw. All am hoping for is Higuain and Azpli combine for a hatrick tomorrow! 🙂

You’re in a great position though with your OR though mate so wouldn’t worry.

I had a heavy fall a few weeks back and struggling to get back up. Currently at 114k (up from 126k before this GW). Have been as high as 29k but as low as 329k lol

I’m a big fan of Pogba and I thought he would be a season keeper under this new management, but now I’m not so sure. Several poor performances in a row.

I had a wee go there. Budget seems ok as it makes sense to take a few Brighton/Southampton boys.

Aguero, Sterling,Kane and Mane from Big hitters.

Yep made a draft two weeks ago when fixtures were confirmed and another one earlier today. Kane, Mane, Sterling, Robertson, Ryan, Kolasinac, Foster & Duffy look like certs. Just need to decide between Aguero and Auba and then fill in the blanks.

A guy in my league used his FH last week and got 31 points so I knew I wasn't guaranteed to get a big haul, but I thought it was guaranteed Sterling and Aguero would get two each with Dilva assisting all of them, Pogba getiing one and bonus points and all my defenfders would keep clean sheets with at least one goal between them oh and that Foster would save a pen from Rashford because I left him out.

Honestly I think of all the hauls I missed from players like Sterling (and Salah most of the time) and budget gems I went without and I'm surprised I'm still that high. Honestly it was probably just luck with some captain choices in the beginning of the season, and after that I was just about "good enough".

I'm surprised that Luiz is so highly selected this week. It seems to have escaped everyone that Sarri has explained that he has an issue with playing 2 games in quick succession which is demonstrated by the fact that the last 2 occasions that Chelsea have played 2 league games in the space of 3-4 days, Luiz has not played the second game. Why do we think it will be different this time?

    1. ZeBestee

No. I just heard Joe on the scoutcast mentioning something about him not being able to play 2 games in 4 days. Then when I checked and saw that he missed gameweeks 15 and 29 and discovered that both of these gameweeks came only a few days after the previous one, this was enough for me to conclude that there is a high chance that Luiz won't play the second game of the Chelsea double.

I have PVA. Also have Sane and Bats though. Some punts pay off. Some don't.

PVA is a legend, especially once winter is completed. That’s why I got him in.

I doubled up on him and Schlupp.

21 points with another game is way more than I hoped for.

Fix algorithm updated after the West Ham game and now recommends Hazard (C)

I have Mane and Salah, by the way

West Ham was just THAT bad today

Doherty, Jimenez or Pogba. Who to sell ? I have plan to WC in GW 34 and i will have all 3 probably.

    I bought Doh for 4.4
    Pog for 7.8
    Jim for 5.5

If i keep them then i have to play Bednarek.

Pog seems out of form, will you not get about 8.4M for him, I'm not bringing him back after today.

Almiron, he's due a goal as he's been a real threat without picking up too many points.

So only Aguero has made the dream team out of the players with more than 10% EO in the top 10k. I don't get it - hasn't anyone told the SGW players they're supposed to blank? 😀

Only player in that game for me is Trippier so me too! Unless he's benched in which case Liverpool can go crazy for all I care.

Yep, got a pretty mediocre 43 points (feels mediocre especially because I got the wrong Silva, and this was actually a case where I was close to getting it right, unlike players like van Aanholt who I never considered) and projected to drop 9 places.

3rd place (me) = BB and WC left

What are folks doing with Fabianski ahead of BGW33?

Or is Anderson a more pertinent fire to put out?

ideally get rid of both, looking at their form and upcoming fixtures.
But I would say get rid of Anderson first...too many good alternatives with great upside/ceiling.
