Dugout Discussion

Rashford absent for Man United’s trip to Wolves

Marcus Rashford (£7.6m) was not named in Manchester United’s matchday squad to face Wolves on Tuesday night.

It is understood by the Manchester Evening News that the forward missed out on the Molineux encounter because of an illness.

It means that Romelu Lukaku (£10.8m) returns to the starting line-up for the first time since Gameweek 30.

The Belgian is flanked by Jesse Lingard (£6.7m) and FPL defender Diogo Dalot (£5.3m) in a front three.

Anthony Martial (£7.2m) has been named on the bench while Paul Pogba (£8.9m), Fred (£5.4m) and Scott McTominay (£4.2m) are selected as the midfield trio.

Victor Lindelöf (£5.1m) returns at centre-back after missing the Watford game, and plays in defence alongside Chris Smalling (£5.6m), Luke Shaw (£5.1m) and captain Ashley Young (£5.7m).

Meanwhile, Wolves have restored Raúl Jiménez (£6.8m) and Matt Doherty (£5.4m) to the side after they were beaten 2-0 at Burnley on Saturday.

It is certainly a much stronger looking outfit with those two back, while Ryan Bennett (£4.1m) returns from suspension.

Ruben Vinagre (£4.3m), who has shown statistical promise in his recent performances, comes in for Jonny (£4.3m) at left-back.

After much concern over rotation, Troy Deeney (£5.9m) and Gerard Deulofeu (£5.7m) both started both Double Gameweek 32 matches, the second seeing them host Fulham.

That selection comes in spite of Watford playing Wolves in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final.

In fact, Javi Gracia’s only changes to the side that lost at Manchester United on Saturday are all in defence.

Daryl Janmaat (£4.9m), Christian Kabasele (£4.4m) and Adam Masina (£4.3m) all drop the bench while Miguel Britos (£4.3m) misses out entirely.

Coming in for the quartet are José Holebas (£4.8m), Adrian Mariappa (£4.2m), Craig Cathcart (£4.5m) and Kiko Femenía (£4.2m).

After they missed out on the defeat to Manchester City, Tim Ream (£4.2m) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.4m) return to the Fulham side.

Watford XI: Foster; Kiko, Mariappa, Cathcart, Holebas; Hughes, Doucouré, Capoue, Pereyra; Deulofeu, Deeney.

Fulham XI: Rico; Christie, Ream, Le Marchand, Bryan; Anguissa, Chambers; Babel, Cairney, Sessegnon; Mitrovic.

Wolves XI: Rui Patrício; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Doherty, Dendoncker, Rúben Neves, João Moutinho, Rúben Vinagre; Jiménez, Diogo Jota.

Manchester United XI: De Gea; Shaw, Lindelöf, Smalling, Young; Pogba, Fred, McTominay; Lingard, Lukaku, Dalot.

Is Kane Jimenéz Lacazette looking like best WC front 3 for WC in 35?
( Sterling is City pick and not sold on Chelsea or ManU forwards other than perhaps Rashford for Lacazette)

One week punt before wildcard :

    Pogba to Almiron.

I will loose 0.4m on Pog, but not sure if I want him back anyway.

    Yey or nay?

    1. Anathallo
      • 14 Years

I wouldn't. Palace are pretty tight and Newcastle are hardly prolific. Almiron with very few returns for his bright play. I'd be looking at Leicester options, or failing that Fraser or Brooks.

I'm ditching Pogba now and don't want him back.

Think there are better options than Almiron though. How about Tielemans or Madison as they play Huddersfield

      1. Anathallo

I'm also ditching Pogba but am feeling a bit unsure. Could easily have had a few assists tonight. The flick on to McTominay which was well saved, and a couple of good set ups for Lukaku. He looks indifferent but could still explode. Plus pens. Tricky.

Agree on pogba selling (will do that too) but why almiron?

What's the obsession around here with Almiron? He's got 2 assists in 8 games - hardly setting the world on fire. Anderson is universally hated and he had similar form over the last 8 games.

And they're against Crystal Palace who are solid defensively.

Sigurdsson, Fraser and Maddison are all much better picks IMO.

There was talk at around the time he fell off the cliff that Sarri was restraining him and stopping him going up so much. Alonso's one of the few things I played perfectly this season, as well as staying away from Salah until the perfect moment.

Got only 6 players playing next week... TC and WC left. Should I:

    A) Wildcard this week and get 3 chelsea, 3 saints
    B) Make 2-3 hits and build a team for this week
    C) Make no hits

Looking like its gonna have to be a wc...

If you don't WC for 34/35 and rest of season you're shooting yourself in the foot imo

I think WC. Bench 4 strong DGW players this week, plus with Arsenal and Chelsea assets, and another 2 transfers in hand, you should be golden.

33 will likely be poor average as 31

        • 14 Years
        5 years, 19 days ago

Disagree. There were points on offer in 31 if you picked the right players (easier said than done but Maddison, King etc were hardly out there picks), and 33 will be no different. A WC this week could feasibly see:

        33 - 11 players
34 - 13 players (couple of Brighton DGW)
        35 - 22 players (11 DGWers)

I wouldn't hesitate to go for it.

Poor average. Hindsight picking the best players after the fact is irrelevant. No way you can line up best 34/35 with 33 WC. Much rather take a few hits

Fair enough. I think overall we over emphasise DGWs. Look at this one, plenty of rotation and other unpredictable events. You were bemoaning it on the last page! Ultimately it comes down to personal approach. Mine is that it's better to try and get the points in hand and try and plan for the future, and take hits down the line if you feel you need them.

Yup to this and above... I can easily see 33 being as poor as 31. Not really confident in any of my players doing well despite having all the best players on paper for next week.

I hear you on one level but FPL doesn't work that way IMO. How many weeks do our players have amazing looking fixtures only to flop? It works in reverse as well. You only need 1 or 2 differentials to fire and you can shoot up the rankings.

Very quick version (and definitely not ideal...)

            Leno (Ryan)
            Kola Bednarek Robbo TAA (Duffy)
            JWP Redmond Mane (Sterling, Deulofeu)
            Vardy Auba Laca

2 transfers in 35 brings in 2 DGWers of choice. Also Liverpool players in 35 vs Cardiff are better than most DGWers IMO.

Its the suspension threat, Young's recent stats and the facts that he looks pretty nailed for the DGW (which he was) which swayed me towards him. Still absooutely gutting.

thoughts on this team...who is missing? who instead of Son?

    Guaita (Ryan)
    Robbo Kola Morgan (Duffy Dunk)
    Mane Fraser Brooks (Sterling Son)
    Auba Laca Wilson

probably go Morgan -> Cardiff for GW34
then maybe Jimenez & Jota in for Wilson and Brooks GW35

I am living proof that planning is the greatest waste of time there is.

Guys who FH last wk and TC'd this week have made a 30 + pt gain on me as it stands.

If I'm free hitting this week, is it best to do so now and bring in any players if they're looking like they'll rise in price?

Good idea but remember dont sell players you may end up having in fh/wc team just to make room for price risers. Last wc i ended of selling robbo to get TAA in before rise. TAA got injured. Bought back robbo for 0.3 more

yea not a great choice i will prob have to play fabianski next week but will look at bringing in auba/laca ramsey/ozil/jwp for gw33 for a -4 that will give me 11 and 1 less hit to do in 35
