Scoutcast Episode 290 – Trigger Happy

Buoyed by a largely successful Free Hit in Gameweek 32 the Scoutcast crew are eager to squeeze the trigger on another chip.

This week’s edition is dominated by Joe, Az and Andy’s early Wildcard drafts for Gameweek 34 and the players they are backing for success for the season run in.

But before they can fully focus on their Wildcard there’s the small matter of Gameweek 33’s reduced fixture list to contend with. The crew take in a raft of community questions about the best assets to bring in, whether as a one week pre-Wildcard punt or for the rest of the campaign.

Elsewhere they look back on the drama of the biggest Double Gameweek of the season, including the community’s roughest and smoothest moves.

Gameweek 33’s differentials, clean sheet and captaincy tips are also considered.

Although Joe and Andy seem settled on their next armband target, Az dons his Columbo mac for a “just one more thing” moment to make them doubt their decision.

      A. Anderson is a doubt and even if he does play, he's been absolutely woeful recently. Higuain is top of Joe's goals imminent table and I reckon he could well get something against West Ham.

Sorry for posting again, just want to see the opinion of gurus here.
I did post below that I am thinking about tripling up Spurs attack due to their fixtures as 4/6 of them are in the new stadium. However, the counter-argument is that Man City premiums are the one to go. While it is possible that they will be much less rotation, I am still somehow not convinced they are going to win the remaining games by a big margin.
    City's remaining fixtures:
    33 - blank
34 - Crystal Palace (A) - hard game imo, Crystal Palace have improved defensively, their full backs can hold Man City well as they did in the first fixtures. I dont see many goals for City
    35 - Spurs (H)
Man Utd (A) - these fixtures are very tough for Pep, I cant see many goals for City again.
36 - Burnley (A) - still not sure if Burnley ar staying up and Turf Moor trips are always tough.Dont see many City goals.
37 - Leicester (H) - this is the only fixture where I believe City can score 3 or more goals. But it will depend how Leicester will set up, they improving from game to game. First fixture Leicester beat Man City. The cup game was a tie 1-1.
38 - Brighton (A) - what if the Seagulls are still in the relegation battle? In any case scenario, last gameweeks always tough especially away from home. Brighton may give an electric reception. 50/50 here for City to score many goals.

My personal VERDICT: Avoid doubling up on City attackers. I will personally go for Bernardo Silva and Laporte. I think there are many better premium options outside City

I am more 70-30 right now for tripling up on Spurs and going without Raz and Kun. But might get Raz or Kun still, a bit of debate in my head right now. Tough decisions

get atleast one city player....city can go mental against any team, they have the quality..so be on safe side and get one of Raz or Kun

I will take an even bigger risk and go without any city players for the DGW. 2 very difficult games + rotation. Same applies for ManUtd players. Hopefully the risk can pay off..

For Spurs triple up, I am getting Son, Eriksen and Kane. For City cover I have Laporte and Bernardo Silva. But the main counter-argument is one of Raz/Kun MUST be in your team.

Dont get me wrong, ofc I can also see them winning games, but if you are getting Raz or Aguero, you need a big score in these games, thats what I dont see as I explained above.

I've gone JWP, Remond has better underlying stats, depends which formation he plays I think as to which of the two is better. I was looking to get Deulofeu in too but Deeney & Garcia's comments about Gray are slightly worrying in terms of game time, although with Perrerya injured he'll probably just shift him to the wing

thanks for the detailed answer. I think with jwp you most likely should hope for a set piece to score. redmond plays further forward but watford is much more stronger side imo. my only worry is deulo's gametime

SCOUT PICKS CHALLENGE - GAMEWEEK 33

Almost forgot about tonight's game... which meant I also forgot about this! Was hoping to do GW32 before releasing this but ah well...

    GW30 results: https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/20146430
    GW31 results: https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/20146680

This is going to be a tricky gameweek... most of your players will be against each other! 12 teams, 11 players to choose from. Pick wisely...

    ****** WHAT IS IT? ******

For those of you who haven't been around or aren't aware, every evening prior to the start of the gameweek FFS releases their picks of players for the gameweek, "Scout Picks", as well as 3 differentials before the first games to separate yourself from the crowd.

This is your way to have a bit of fun and challenge those scout picks with a set of your own (read instructions below). This will always open the day before the gameweek starts around 8pm, and whilst you don't have to play weekly, the more you play the better chance you have of winning!

    ****** INSTRUCTIONS ******

Everyone can have their own scout picks (there is no limit on team value) but with one simple rule,

YOU CAN ONLY PICK ONE PLAYER FROM EACH TEAM
(yes, two of your players at least will be on opposing teams).

You can only have ONE submission, and your FIRST submission will be what is accepted. You also must respond DIRECTLY to this post (not to a reply on this post). FFS Scout Picks are automatically enrolled. Teams must comply with FPL formation rules and be submitted in an easy to read format, e.g.

    GK
    DEF DEF DEF
    MID MID MID MID
    FOR FOR FOR

Deadline for this gameweek is Friday 5th April, 7pm.

    ****** SCORING ******

Regardless of number of applicants, scoring will be done by the following:

    1st place: 3 points
Top 4% of the population will rank "second" and score 2 points.
Top 10% of the population will rank "third" and score 1 point.

There is also a bonus point which everyone is eligible for. If you score higher than FFS' Scout Picks AND Differential Picks (i.e. 14 players), you will be awarded with a bonus point regardless of whether you were in the top 10% scoring positions or not.

Welcome to the game, and good luck.

    ***** THE STANDINGS *****

    Your top three:

    1st - Ramboros (27pts)
    2nd - Lord (25pts)
    3rd - FFS Scout (22pts)

Will Marcos Alonso play against West Ham?
Don't want to take point hit to remove him because the replacement has to score to make it worthwhile.
