Hazard and Hudson-Odoi start for Chelsea as Higuain returns

The final match of Blank Gameweek 33 takes place this evening, as West Ham United make the short trip across London to face Chelsea. Kick-off at Stamford Bridge is at 20:00 BST.

Eden Hazard and Callum Hudson-Odoi keep their places in Maurizio Sarri’s starting XI and are joined in Chelsea’s front three by Gonzalo Higuain, who replaces the benched Olivier Giroud.

Given Chelsea’s congested fixture schedule and Sarri’s comments on Friday about “having to change”, there are perhaps not quite as many alterations as we anticipated to the Blues’ line-up.

Sarri’s only other change is an expected one, with Antonio Rudiger replacing Andreas Christensen at centre-half.

Pedro has recovered from injury to take his place among the substitutes alongside Christensen, Giroud, Willian, Ross Barkley and Mateo Kovacic.

There is no Marcos Alonso in the squad, with the Spanish left-back having been a doubt for this match after suffering a hamstring injury.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has recovered from back and hamstring problems to start, however.

After the Hammers’ dismal display against Everton in Gameweek 32, there is perhaps no surprise that Manuel Pellegrini has made five changes to his starting XI.

Marko Arnautovic isn’t one of those changes, however, despite Javier Hernandez‘s return to the West Ham team.

Felipe Anderson and Ryan Fredericks have recovered from injury to start, while Fabian Balbuena is in the Hammers’ starting XI for the first time since December.

Mark Noble is also recalled as Issa Diop, Pablo Zabaleta, Robert Snodgrass, Pedro Obiang and Lucas Perez make way.

All bar Zabaleta of that quintet are among the substitutes tonight.

West Ham were the first team to prevent Hazard from registering an attacking return this season when the two clubs drew 0-0 in Gameweek 6.

The Belgian winger was the third-most-bought and third-most-captained Fantasy asset of Gameweek 33.

Noble is the only member of West Ham’s starting XI to score or assist an away goal this calendar year.

The Hammers are without a victory away from the London Stadium since December.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have kept clean sheets in seven of their last ten home league matches.

Chelsea XI: Arrizabalaga, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Emerson, Kante, Jorginho, Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi, Higuain, Hazard.

West Ham United XI: Fabianski, Fredericks, Balbuena, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Noble, Rice, Anderson, Lanzini, Arnautovic, Hernandez.

Please hear me out and help me take a decision. I am torn between WC this week gw34 BBgw35 and FH gw35 and WC gw36.

We all know the advantages of WC this gw. Plus taking the advantage of spurs assets and Brighton defense this week.

FH will allow me to go gw35 with all dgw players and have my 3 Liverpool assets back on gw36 (Robertson-Mane-Salah). Can get players like Watford and Wolves just for dgw and get rid automatically. Can have an advantage of WC and BB last 2 game weeks over the rest and take advantage of last 2 weeks fixtures. I can always WC gw36 directly anyway.

I still can go either way. What do u think??

Most of DGW35 players have great fixtures to end the season so I don't think you can take advantage with a WC in GW36 instead of GW34. Plus BBGW35 looks obvious, FH there will block your BB and force you to use it another week. I'd FH in GW38 if I were you.

Wolves vs Liverpool almost certainly will not be a high scoring game. You could use the money from two of your 3 Liverpool players to fund more than a few punts on the last GW of the season

I don't have Wildcard. I have 4-5 players that last 3-4 matches of the season are awlful. Do you think that -16/-20 hit is worth it? I feel that until the end of the season that risk will pay off and I will grab points, that in my current situation I most def wouldn't.

Ake to Duffy this GW and Fab to Ryan. Then AWB and Speroni to Foster and Valery/Bednarek/Boly/Jonny next GW, and cap Jimenez. Every other player you own is capable of an unsurprising haul in GW35, and further hits might end up hurting. This is best for BB
Without BB, Ake + Wilson + Fraser this GW to Duffy/Dunk + Eriksen + Fodder, then Fab to Foster for GW35 (start VVD, Pereira and Luiz then in a 3-5-2)

Err... You don't really have anybody I'd be in a hurry to sell for GW35. Bournemouth should be easy to let go at first glance, but being home to Fulham...

Oh well. Maximize the points, aye?

TAA to Duffy this GW. Then Brooks to Jota, Almiron to Deulofeu/Doucoure (depends on Deu's fitness) and bench Barnes in a 3-5-2. Either this or Barnes to Jimenez, Almiron to Jota and bench Brooks if you can afford that

If the plan is BB, Barnes, AWB and Button become exit priorities and complicate the whole plan 😀

Cheers for the reply mate. Really? I’m sat here panicking with this team tbh haha! 6 players alone in the pool and chelsea game doesn’t fill me with confidence. Thinking get rid of chelsea assets asap?

Yeah i’m really hoping Bournemouth can turn things around a little.

Some sound moves there, i should be able to afford that.
Not really any plan to set up a BB team, but i suppose it would be wise to have some that will play twice.

Would you take many hits over this coming double with this team?

              • 5 Years
              5 years, 18 days ago

I learnt over the course of the season that hits to chase high ceilings while selling high floors you already have can backfire

If the purpose of taking the many hits is to put out a good GW35 XI, please bear in mind that you already have some of the most nailed players in the game with good fixtures in GW35, even if they're only single. A problem with most of the targets you'll get for hits is rotation risk. As we saw in GW32, even with the high scores, it turned out that most highly sought after attackers started only one match. Even those who hauled

If your SGW players are good enough, I don't see the appeal in selling FOR HITS to get DGW players. Would make a lot more sense on a wildcard or FH, of course

Yeah good points there, and i do agree totally 🙂

Just the guy eho’s 2nd behind me in my ML still has his bloody WC and TC and BB, and i’m only 40 odd points ahead, will take some careful planning if i’m to win it.

                  I see this as a 50:50 balance

While he jumps on and off bandwagons for the chips and doubles, you can keep a level head with the players you have who have already proved themselves over the season, and only tweak to get your best XI every week with minimal hits

I'm gonna have this in GW35, with TC being my only available chip

                  Foster
                  Robertson . Doherty . Pereira
                  Salah . Mane . Eriksen . Hazard . JWP
                  Vardy . Jimenez (TC)

                  Boruc . Yedlin . Duffy . Barnes

Would get it by selling Brooks and Chilwell for Eriksen and Duffy, then Jimenez and Foster for Etheridge and Rondon. Total of -8, with quite the number of SGW players in there with good matches

This is what i thought as well, like whilst he’s frying his brain to choose the right players, i could take the more relaxed assured approach knowing i have players that will play.

I like your team for GW35, and only a -8? Is that because you won’t be making any FT’s thus gameweek?

SGW players can easily outscore DGW’ers also can’t they 🙂

1 FT and one hit each in GWs 34 and 35. This GW is Brooks + Chilwell to Eri(k)sen + Duffy (-4). Next GW would be Jimenez and Foster (-4). Adds up to -8. Haven't taken a hit since GW29 and had a crazy jump from 500k to 80k OR, so I think I've done enough to take just two hits

Yes, SGW players can. Wouldn't be expecting much, though. Probably just enough points to stay afloat. The real benefits of a calm approach start counting from GWs 36 to 38

having done 12+ points hits 3 times this season and every time it has paid off I recommend looking at every single hit individually instead of as a lump sum. Ask yourself whether you think that this -4 A for B player will pay off this week and if not, then if it will pay off over the next 2-3 gameweeks.

Without a wildcard, Chelsea assets are amongst the nailed GW35 sword picks. I'd bench Luiz for this GW (Duffy instead) and then sell for GW36, while playing Hazard in every game for the rest of the season. He's in the mood for another of his haul-streaks, and there's just this feeling he's doing this as a proper goodbye present to Chelsea fans

Sterling a better shout than Aguero in my opinion, i have both and may have to keep both.
Sterling slightly cheaper and if they’re going to secure things i think Pep needs to play him.

Good point. It's very close and they can't afford to lose any points to Liverpool atm. Maybe I can squeeze them both in.

Yeah that’s the thing, if there was a gap and city running away with it, then things would be more unpredictable. I think Pep has to use him not to lose points. If you can squeeze both in then why not 🙂

For everyone doubling up on Brighton defs (Ryan+Duffy or Duffy+Dunk), do you already planned a transfer to remove one of them for GW35 when they play Wolves & Spurs away ? Are you willing to take a -4 to remove both or change other thinkgs on your team by then ?

Aguero vs Sterling. Who do you think is the better pick? I know Sterling has more points etc. But I think Aguero has more chance of starting both games in a DGW if fit. Aguero has also historically done well vs the big 6.

        Well Duffy has 4 games.

I can afford Vardy -> Kane for free. Or just take a -4 which isn't took bad.

The -8 is to mostly get duffy in as 99% of people will have Duffy & Kane the next 2 gameweeks.

Vardy to Kane is the most +ev especially with captaincy and you can do that for free.
Are you saying you want to take a -8 to get rid of Hazard for Duffy?
I'd much rather a -4 to do Hazard to Eriksen, sets you up better for next week and you get another Spurs player against HUD.
