Hazard and Hudson-Odoi start for Chelsea as Higuain returns

The final match of Blank Gameweek 33 takes place this evening, as West Ham United make the short trip across London to face Chelsea. Kick-off at Stamford Bridge is at 20:00 BST.

Eden Hazard and Callum Hudson-Odoi keep their places in Maurizio Sarri’s starting XI and are joined in Chelsea’s front three by Gonzalo Higuain, who replaces the benched Olivier Giroud.

Given Chelsea’s congested fixture schedule and Sarri’s comments on Friday about “having to change”, there are perhaps not quite as many alterations as we anticipated to the Blues’ line-up.

Sarri’s only other change is an expected one, with Antonio Rudiger replacing Andreas Christensen at centre-half.

Pedro has recovered from injury to take his place among the substitutes alongside Christensen, Giroud, Willian, Ross Barkley and Mateo Kovacic.

There is no Marcos Alonso in the squad, with the Spanish left-back having been a doubt for this match after suffering a hamstring injury.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has recovered from back and hamstring problems to start, however.

After the Hammers’ dismal display against Everton in Gameweek 32, there is perhaps no surprise that Manuel Pellegrini has made five changes to his starting XI.

Marko Arnautovic isn’t one of those changes, however, despite Javier Hernandez‘s return to the West Ham team.

Felipe Anderson and Ryan Fredericks have recovered from injury to start, while Fabian Balbuena is in the Hammers’ starting XI for the first time since December.

Mark Noble is also recalled as Issa Diop, Pablo Zabaleta, Robert Snodgrass, Pedro Obiang and Lucas Perez make way.

All bar Zabaleta of that quintet are among the substitutes tonight.

West Ham were the first team to prevent Hazard from registering an attacking return this season when the two clubs drew 0-0 in Gameweek 6.

The Belgian winger was the third-most-bought and third-most-captained Fantasy asset of Gameweek 33.

Noble is the only member of West Ham’s starting XI to score or assist an away goal this calendar year.

The Hammers are without a victory away from the London Stadium since December.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have kept clean sheets in seven of their last ten home league matches.

Chelsea XI: Arrizabalaga, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Emerson, Kante, Jorginho, Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi, Higuain, Hazard.

West Ham United XI: Fabianski, Fredericks, Balbuena, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Noble, Rice, Anderson, Lanzini, Arnautovic, Hernandez.

Been out with friends and just got back to have a look at the Chelsea scores... Literally couldn't have asked for more 🙂 I had Hazard (c), Luiz and Hudson-Odoi. Hazard c was a last minute switch from Mane, pleased with a clean sheet and CHO I've had as fodder for weeks, didn't have enough players coz I FH 31 not 32 so had to start him this week after taking a -12 to get 10 other players out, I was hoping for a 1 point cameo at most, if he'd got a goal or assist he would have been an absolute hero but i'll take 3 points any day... Chelsea actually didn't troll me for once 😀

Alright chaps, gtg for this week or any changes to subs etc?

    Ryan
    Pereira / Duffy / Kola
    Salah / Son / Mane / Fraser
    Kane(c) / Vardy / Laca

    Guaita / JWP / Doherty / TAA

It’s a bit out there but thinking of giving Duffy the armband, thoughts please.

        Hazard / Sterling / Son / Pogba / Mane

Sounds like we’re in agreement then although I wouldn’t say Watford are rubbish at the moment

Is Jonny an option? Him over Doherty allows me to do a 5.0 defender to Laporte.

Maybe. But will probably miss 1 of the 2 DGW games and not showing much attacking promises...

Can't seem to get past this team on my wildcard.

    0 left in bank!

    GK Lloris/Foster
DEF Robinson, Doherty, Valery, Duffy, Dunk
MID Sterling, Son, Jota, JWP, Delafeau
    FWD Kane, Aguero, Lacazette

Would shift a Brighton defender to a Watford/Hollebas for GW 35.

Gameweek rank doesn't include hits by the way hence why the highest score is normally after making about 40 transfers in that gwk 😆

I Know I was pointing out that many took 8 or more so their gwr would be more distorted. The whole gwr thing is a waste of time until they start taking into account

Thoughts on advantages/disadvantages with a "punt" on gmw 34 player and then change it to the player you were going for on gmw 35. Also instead of getting the player already in your WC now.

For example Smalling instead of Doherty on your WC now. And then use your transfer on Smalling -> Doherty for gmw 35.

We cant save transfers with BB on 35 anyway.

One disadvantage is obviously if one of your players gets injured in gmw 34.

    Thoughts?

You can’t save transfers through a bench boost?

Yes I thought so and never heard anything to the contrary before. As far as I’m aware you just can’t save transfers through a wildcard and free hit

At least plan something with a higher expected points gain if you are going to use a transfer on it.
Surely that's not worth a precious transfer

    4. bench boost for every gamew…

      5 years, 17 days ago

Bench boost does not cancel transfers. If you save then 2 in 36. I am tempted to do it as I think there is tricky from 34 to 35. United nice but not in 35, wolves and wat good in 35.

Help with this BB35 WC team
    Lloris Foster
    TAA Laporte Doherty ... ...
    Sterling Son Jota Camasara …
    Kane Jimenez ...
Camasara > Hojbjerg for gw 35

For the rest of the team:
    A) Duffy Bednarek Salah Deeney
    B) Dunk Valery Mane Lacazette(straight switch to Firmino in 36)
    Thoughts?

Currently 62k. Playing my WC now & BB next week.

What's the highest I could realistically hope to finish if things went relatively well in the last few weeks?

This is something I've never worried about. Why set yourself up to fail?
You're in the top 1% already, just aim to stay there and creep up as many more places as possible.

Still considering a TC 35 and BB 36. What do you reckon? I'd keep Duffy and Dunk til 36 so bench them 2 along with Camarassa for poor fixtures in 35. Then BB with more favourable fixtures. Would also mean I have 2 FT in 36 to bring in Firminho and 2nd city asset (most likely Laporte)

    Thoughts on this WC team?

    Ryan (Foster)
    Laporte Duffy Valery (Bednarek Jonny)
    Sterling Son Eriksen Jota (JWP)
    Aguero Kane(c) Jimenez

Bench boosting in 35. I know the defence isn’t brilliant but the attacking options are plenty.
