Hazard and Hudson-Odoi start for Chelsea as Higuain returns

The final match of Blank Gameweek 33 takes place this evening, as West Ham United make the short trip across London to face Chelsea. Kick-off at Stamford Bridge is at 20:00 BST.

Eden Hazard and Callum Hudson-Odoi keep their places in Maurizio Sarri’s starting XI and are joined in Chelsea’s front three by Gonzalo Higuain, who replaces the benched Olivier Giroud.

Given Chelsea’s congested fixture schedule and Sarri’s comments on Friday about “having to change”, there are perhaps not quite as many alterations as we anticipated to the Blues’ line-up.

Sarri’s only other change is an expected one, with Antonio Rudiger replacing Andreas Christensen at centre-half.

Pedro has recovered from injury to take his place among the substitutes alongside Christensen, Giroud, Willian, Ross Barkley and Mateo Kovacic.

There is no Marcos Alonso in the squad, with the Spanish left-back having been a doubt for this match after suffering a hamstring injury.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has recovered from back and hamstring problems to start, however.

After the Hammers’ dismal display against Everton in Gameweek 32, there is perhaps no surprise that Manuel Pellegrini has made five changes to his starting XI.

Marko Arnautovic isn’t one of those changes, however, despite Javier Hernandez‘s return to the West Ham team.

Felipe Anderson and Ryan Fredericks have recovered from injury to start, while Fabian Balbuena is in the Hammers’ starting XI for the first time since December.

Mark Noble is also recalled as Issa Diop, Pablo Zabaleta, Robert Snodgrass, Pedro Obiang and Lucas Perez make way.

All bar Zabaleta of that quintet are among the substitutes tonight.

West Ham were the first team to prevent Hazard from registering an attacking return this season when the two clubs drew 0-0 in Gameweek 6.

The Belgian winger was the third-most-bought and third-most-captained Fantasy asset of Gameweek 33.

Noble is the only member of West Ham’s starting XI to score or assist an away goal this calendar year.

The Hammers are without a victory away from the London Stadium since December.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have kept clean sheets in seven of their last ten home league matches.

Chelsea XI: Arrizabalaga, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Emerson, Kante, Jorginho, Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi, Higuain, Hazard.

West Ham United XI: Fabianski, Fredericks, Balbuena, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Noble, Rice, Anderson, Lanzini, Arnautovic, Hernandez.

Current squad no wildcard left. Any thoughts for this week?

    0.2 ITB 0FT

    Planning BB in 35.

Only have 6 DGW so far but Pool and Bournemouth have such great fixtures in 35. Even Vardy has an amazing 35 fixture...

    Lloris
    Bednarek Robbo Duffy
    Salah Mane Pogba JWP
    Kane Vardy Wilson

    Boruc Brooks AWB Luiz

Bourne had a great fixture this week but let me down ;). You're not bad off, that's for sure. Bench is quite poor though. Maybe Wilson, Brooks, AWB to Deeney, Jota, Bennett? Idk if possible

Well technically Bednarek Boruc AWB Brooks is my bench for the BB - so yeah I agree it's not looking so crash hot anymore. Should I perhaps save BB until I can improve it without taking hits?

Jota is definitely on my radar. I'm really loathe to drop Wilson though as he could easily haul vs Fulham at Home. Deeney could be a great differential.

      Order of nailedness
      1. Bednarek, SOU's best defender
      2. Bennett. Nuno seems to really like him. Worried about the competitioj offered by Saiss, though.
      3. Kiko. Simply because he's only recently come back into the XI, and may be one of the plauers whose minytes are controlled to decrease the chances of picking up an injury befor ethe FA cup Final.

Mad. Literally just looked at this myself. But went with Mane over Sterling as an option in B as want Pool attack and JWP over Son in both due to budget and Lloris in goal. Tomorrow is a huge indicator for me

Tricky to decide isn't it. I went for B as Liverpools fixtures are pretty dcent and title to play for. It really depends on City but with pricespossibly changing tonight, I needed to make a decision today as I had .1 to spare

Went for B as it seems to make more sense but not 100% still.

I guess it's tricky after seeing the same lads week in week out and now it's all WC and alien looking!

Sad to wake up and see that the Hazard haul decresed my rank rise, even as an owner :(. But still, a rank rise is a rank rise, 81 pts and 84k->52k ain't bad at all.

A high proportion of the game are wildcarding right now.

I took the risk that the sites were over inflating due to wildcarders who have activated it.

Got away with it. Have exact funds for Auba to Kane, albeit might do TAA to Duffy anyway so could take a price rise for Kane.

Not really. Non-wildcarders are keeping, casuals are transferring in, and wildcarders are getting rid.

Result: only net gain as no one is transferring out essentially as wildcarders transfers don't count.

Its still very early in tinkerings, no doubt loads of changes pending.

          Lloris Ryan*
          Robertson Dunk K.Femenia Bednarek* Bennett
          Sterling Mane* Son* Deulofeu/Jota JWP*
          Kane Vardy* Jimenez/Deeney

Really starting to feel that Lloris/Foster is the best GK combo on a WC.

Yes, Ryan plays 4 in 2, but for me Foster is by far the better pick in GW35. Lloris likely to be the most secure route into Spurs defence for HUD in GW34.

So surely Duffy/Dunk is the better Brighton double-up, if one's needed at all?

Ouch, times are hard if that's the case! What squad are you looking at overall?

          I'm currently contemplating this:

          Lloris, Foster
          Robertson, Doherty, Duffy, Dunk, Valery
          Sterling, Mané, Eriksen, Jota, Deulofeu
          Kane, Jimenez, Deeney

I'd say Ryan has more chances of save points in GW35 than Duffy & Dunk will have of an attacking return.

This may prove correct. But if so comes back to my question of whether a Brighton double is even necessary. If Holebas is deffo fit I may look at him rather than Dunk.

I agree, I definitely wouldn't be doubling on Duffy and Dunk because I don't see a clean sheet in 35. Ryan is tempting though.

Doesn't matter, all that matters is whether Spurs will shoot a lot vs. Brighton, and the answer is yes.

you're free to believe what you wish but there's no way that foster will be expected to outscore ryan over the course of the next 2 GWs, whichever way you look at it

        1. amplifiedAnt
          • 9 Years
          5 years, 9 days ago

It's not *just* about Ryan vs Foster though, is it?

If choosing Lloris/Foster I'd play Lloris for HUD in GW34 then in GW35 have mci/BHA/hud/SOU.

If choosing Lloris/Ryan I'd have Ryan for BOU/CAR in GW34 then in GW35 have mci/BHA/wol/tot.

If you're convinced that Brighton keep 2 clean sheets in GW34 then yes, my argument may very well be null and void.

Problem is Lloris uses up Spurs place, so cant have Trippier with potential attacking returns, or triple attack especially with HUD next....

Say Lloris keeps 2 cs in next 3 that's 12 points, minimum for Ryan say 4 x 2 = 8, and you'd expect saves and maybe at least one cs

True, if probably a little superfluous after that match. Currently looking at a mid of Sterling, Mané, Son, Jota, Deulofeu.

Also wary of planning any transfers between WC and BB. A lot can happen in a week, so ideally the free transfer will be used for fire-fighting rather than inviting the potential for unnecessary hits.

Planning to not hinder the run into final few fixtures may prove as important as getting the DGWs correct. It's tough to get spot on!

Wilson and Salah --> Kane + Son (-4) worth it?

If things get medieval, then Kane and Son will be heavily involved. I would not be happy losing Salah if he is about to hit form.

I assume the lack of TAA love is the threat of the returning Gomez?

No lack of love here. Gomez is more likely to be used in the centre so TAA's place is relatively safe.

Thoughts on Son starting this weekend and the rest of the season? Or best to go with Eriksen? Thanks guys

Son is the most heavily transferred in which suggests confidence. He also has a better PPG than Erik. I've got him in on my wild monkey along with Kane and Lloris.

The extra 0.7m is essentially for "nailedness". Son could be rotated for 1 or 2 games in the next 4 league games as there's CL games going on too. As to which ones is a guess really. Might start against Huddersfield but not against Brighton

Exact thoughts! I know that he can do so much more damage than Eriksen but is it worth getting him in if he will be rotated? Apart from Kane would you recommend someone else from Spurs? Thanks again lads
