Captains

For the first time this season, Brighton defensive assets are playing a role in the captaincy debate.

The Seagulls have two fixtures in Double Gameweek 34, both of which look very appealing.

They host Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon before Cardiff City come to the Amex Stadium on Tuesday night.

We have discussed the key options in another video on YouTube, which you can watch embedded below.

Shane Duffy (£4.7m) looks to be the most popular of Brighton’s options at the back, given the goal threat he carries and the possibility of clean sheets in each Double Gameweek 34 match.

Mat Ryan (£4.4m) and Lewis Dunk (£4.4m) are the other two nailed-on to start members of the Seagulls’ defence.

Meetings with Bournemouth and Cardiff, both of whom are generally poor away from home, may also bring some of Brighton’s attacking options into the frame.

Glenn Murray (£6.3m) has started 10 of the last 11 Premier League outings so may end up as the most popular midfield or forward option for the captaincy among Brighton players.

However, with just one goal in his last seven, some may turn to Anthony Knockaert (£5.2m), who has a goal and two assists in that time.

However, it is a possibility that turning to the Seagulls for the armband is a risk too far for some managers, Double Gameweek or not.

Harry Kane (£12.5m) is likely to be the favourite for those targeting the single Gameweek matches.

The Tottenham forward has three goals in his last six and has promised more than that ahead of Huddersfield’s visit to north London.

The Terriers began life after relegation with a 4-1 home defeat to Leicester in Blank Gameweek 33 so are still not inspiring huge confidence in their defence.

For that reason, Christian Eriksen (£9.2m), Dele Alli (£8.8m) and Son Heung-min (£8.5m) may all receive some consideration too.

The only thing that might put managers off a Spurs option outside the largely undroppable Kane, is the fact that Mauricio Pochettino may have to factor in some rotation to Double Gameweek 34 with big Champions League matches against Manchester City either side of it.

That competition is why very few of Pep Guardiola’s charges will be strongly considered this week, as they prepare for a trip to Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Chelsea go head-to-head at Anfield, which should reduce any interest in the likes of Mohamed Salah (£13.2m), Sadio Mané (£10.1m) or Eden Hazard (£11.1m).

Fresh from a 16-point haul against Huddersfield in Blank Gameweek 33, Jamie Vardy (£9.2m) may once again receive some attention as a differential captain as Leicester host Newcastle.

Howe expected to change the starting XI after two bad games, no?
Think Brooks could be at risk with Stanislas and Ibe fit?

How very old fashioned of you to mention Bournemouth!

It’ll be interesting to see the ownership levels of Bournemouth assets after the WC frenzy.

No WC here, hoping they can do something vs Fulham at home.
Really unsure about Brooks' playing time though

          Think Brooks should be safe.

And Bournemouth Fulham has DGW buster written all over it. I rather suspect my 33 team with Vardy Hazard Fraser is going to outscore my new fangled lot.

DGW 32 all over again I fear.

I'm keeping Hazard and Vardy, can't be removing the most in-form players in the game for hits.

And I think Fraser on the other wing is safer, which means Brooks could be sacrified for Stanislas (or Ibe). He might have to go for a hit but not many options in his price range...

Money is no object, who would you rather own from now until the rest of the season:

    a) Kolasinac

    b) Vertonghen

Help please - any good way to spend my £1.5m itb or just hold it to make it easy to get Mane in GW36 in place of Son/ Eriksen/ Pogba?

    Foster Ryan
    TAA Valery Doherty Duffy Laporte
    Sterling Son Eriksen Pogba Jota
    Kane Deeney Jimenez

    Thanks 🙂

Is anyone tempted to go without a Liverpool defender for 34 and 35 then bring one back in for 36?

With cleansheets so hard to predict at times, isn't it better to go with a DGW defender

I've been thinking the same but as I've value built up in TAA I don't want to sell given their fixtures look good to season-end (1 less admittedly)

    4. JohnnyMagrinho

Hmm. Robertson has so many assists though. There's only 5 players in the game with more assists than him, plus he's part of one of the best defenses in the league.

Think it's a no brainer to keep him, for a shield nonetheless.

        Tempted

But they’re so reliable for attacking points too and it seems a shame to burn a transfer bringing one in for 36. Unless you’re considering the triple attack for Huddersfield that is

I'm glad Winks is fit for tonight - most of Spurs bad form has been when he has missed games in the recent past

How are you feeling about the game? I think we (Spurs) could get a win. Equally, we could get battered. 😆

Hoping Aguero isn't really fit yet so is on the bench and we do like Dortmund and get a nice 3-0 lead. I'm not betting any money on it though !

      Ryan - Foster
      Robbo - Duffy - Doherty - Valery - Bednarek
      Sterling - KDB - Eriksen - Son - Jota
      Kane - Jimenez - Deeney

KDB & Son can be Salah & JWP also.

But I'm thinking if I go with this team and save FT in 35 I can get Salah back for free in GW36 and even TC him.
Will sell one Spurs & City mid depending on form and who is getting more/less mins.

I am on a wild card and have done a first tasty draft without any City players because of rotation and hard fixtures in the DGW.

I want to have som cash free so i can change Hazard to Salah/Sterling whenever i want with just 1FT. I am also planing to change Camarasa to Deulofeu newt GW to maximize my Bench boost.

      Ryan, Foster

      VVD, AWB, Doherty, Duffy, Valery

      Mane, Hazard, Son, Camarasa, Jota

      Kane, Jimenez, Lacazette

      3,2 itb

Does this look good or is it any obvious improvements i can do with this team? Good to know is that i bought, VVD, AWB, Doherty when their prizes were at the lowest so not very keen on transferring them out.

Hazard maybe, but he looks unstoppable tbh. I know it's 'only' Westham, which tbf have been awful themselves, but he was electric yesterday. One of the best PL perfomances I have seen, dazzling around the midfield/defence like he owns them. Pool will be very difficult but if the likes of RLC/CHO keep playing and keep playing really well, then he might be the one to keep. I would say Sterling tbh

      No WC or FH left.

      Lloris / Boruc
      Robertson / Doherty / Azpi / Pereira / AWB
      Salah / Mane / Hazard / Richarlison / Brooks
      Vardy / Jimenez / Barnes

      2 FT
      0,1£ ITB

      Barnes & Salah --> Kane & 6,4£ (Jota etc.)
      And triple captain Kane?

Other ways to get Kane into the team? Or just AWB & Haz to Duffy & Eriksen?

If you're planning to use bench boost in GW35 then yeah I think TC Kane is a good idea.

      On WC

Apart from Lacazette who are your goto Arsenal players up until the end of the season

      Any ideas would be welcomed

None. Don't trust them defensively and i don't think even Kola's attacking threat is enough to warrant picking him. But that's just me.

So what’s the verdict then with Vardy on this WC? Friday night fixture is swaying me...

      A) Keep

      B) Sell

I sold. Was very tempted to keep but trying not to be too sentimental as that's burned me on a few occasions this season already haha!

The only thing that is wanting me to keep Vardy is less the sentiment but more blocking those jammy casuals who are forced to keep without their WC.

          Hard one

It’s between him and Mane. Think vardy can outscore mane over next two but ownership issue

Taking Kane off my team is really opening things up. Could have son and eriksen in mid . Aguero up front .

Kane may get a hatrick in the Hudds game, and your OR would take a big dent. It's safe to bring him in and risky not to captain him. See him today first.

It’s the best way forward. Kane not showing anything fantastic, there are forwards half his price that can easily match him with better fixtures in Jiménez and deeney. The mids are showing great value here

      Tempted by this variation.

Gamble on no Kane but keeps the two form players in the game - they’ll both get 180 minutes over 2 weeks which is of course as much as many DGW players

      Lloris
      Vvd Dunk Duffy
      Mane Sterling Hazard Eriksen Jota
      Jim Vardy

      Foster Deeney Valery Cathcart

Yes but he has two chances and Kane will play Champion League before.
