The best defenders for a second Wildcard squad

With the Gameweek 34 deadline looming, Fantasy managers who are deploying their Wildcard (or otherwise) will be mulling over the various options for the season run-in.

With that in mind, we have looked at several defensive candidates to be considered between now and the end of 2019/20.

To do that, we have made use of the wealth of data available in the Members’ Area and those subscribing can read on below.

Now that we are well past the halfway stage of the season, memberships are available for just £10 and can be acquired by signing up HERE.

Who’s more vital to get in, Eriksen or Son, and why?

Son long term but think he is a riskier pick this week vs Eriksen.

Depends where you are in your ML and your rivals' teams. If in the lead, then it is Son as he has the higher ownership so limits the advantages others can make on you. If chasing, then Eriksen as he often has a high point ceiling and isn't well owned so will be able to get you more of an advantage if he performs. Personally, I have both!

Yep...Camarasa is a must transfer in 35 so if someone else gets injured you're forced to take a 4 point hit. Brighton defenders/GK though are playable in 35 if you aren't able to take them out.

I think Camarasa is a good one week punt considering he has a double, is Cardiff's best player, in a side fighting hard against relegation and is easily down-gradable next week to Hojberg

He also creates a benching headache though... I'd be benching Jimenez or Rashford if I brought him in which could really backfire. The fact you have to transfer him out is just a huge negative - so easy to be forced into taking a -4.

I think you get rid of Ings and bring in JWP for Sterling to cover the Southampton thing. Then you have options of Aguero, Laca etc. up front (which is useful for the run in - even if the one you choose isn't good, you have more flexibility to bring in a premium asset if they hit form)

          1. #FPLBhuna

So What’s the plan for the triple Brighton in 35?

A couple is sterling benchings and aguero hauls would make like painful. Why not Agueto instead of Salah for 34 and 35 and then switch in 36?

      1. #FPLBhuna
        • 7 Years

yeah it's a consideration mate, but quite fancy salah even for cardiff away

think the one consideration is possibly aguero over sterling!

The way you are set up compared to ‘the template’ you are in for a high variance couple of weeks - could be brilliant or a disaster but it will certainly be interesting!

I was tempted to go for something like this as well but I'm not sure I can justify Salah especially when I'm thinking about doubling up on Liverpool defence in 36 (or even on WC right now)

Going with 3 cheap forwards I'd also prefer Rashford in there over Ings. Maybe by downgrading Sterling to KDB.

He hasn't needed rest because he missed a lot of the first part of the season and even when he was back he got rotated a bit because of some mysterious stomach injury/problem.

But Huddersfield at Home IMO is the perfect time for him to get a rest. He's more vital than Son is against City so I can see him being rested for this one game. Son OTOH I think will play vs Hudds and then get his rest vs City in the CL or league.

Vardy to Deeney next week (probably) and Højbjerg to another mid, perhaps.

I've got him and am hardly sold on him but just unconvinced by the alternatives. Vardy no double. Lots of question marks around Lacazette and Aubamayang. Man United have hardly been stellar so that makes Rash and Lukaku off putting. Aguero is a safe bet and easy downgrade.

Not on a WC but giving him one last week. Not sure Son (-4) outscores Pogba at home to West Ham this GW.

Not got the best team value so went with Hudson Odoi as my fifth mid. What you think?

    Foster - Ryan
    Robbo - Kola - Valery - Duffy - Doherty
    Sterling - Mane - Son - Eriksen - Hudson
    Aguero - Deeney - Jiminez

Nice. Not prefer someone like Højbjerg instead of Hud though? Guess it only matters if you’re planning on bench boosting but...

This leaves me with 0 ITB. Hudson has Burnley at home. He plays an advanced role so he could feasibly get a goal or an assist and if he does he could quite easily outscore Hojberg. Obviously I'd prefer Hojberg but with my team value I've got to make sacrifices somewhere and this seems like the easiest one to make.

Foster > Gunn, Hudson > Hojberg

Tinkering around theese two, all help appriciated.

    1. Mane + JWP or Pogba + Jota?
    2. Jota + Dunk or Hojberg + Laporte?

    A) Ryan and Trippier

    OR

    B) Lloris and Dunk

Have Duffy, Son and Eriksen from these teams already

Think I'm settled on this now

    Lloris Foster
    Duffy Dunk Robbo Doherty Valery
    Son Eriksen Sterling Jota Hojbjerg
    Aguero Vardy Jimenez

1.6itb which allows me to do Eriksen and Vardy to Mane and Firmino in 36.

A bench boost in 35 of: Ryan, Duffy, Dunk, Canarasara isn’t going to be great I fear....

Team is in great shape for 34 though!

Worth keeping Vardy 1 more week then upgrading to Aguero?

    Current team is:

    Lloris Foster
    Robbo TAA Kola Duffy Dunk*
    Salah Eriksen Son Jota JWP
    Vardy Jimenez Deeney

3.1 million in the bank 🙂

*plan to do dunk to a Wolves defender next week
