Fantasy Allsvenskan: GW3

Hope you all had a great GW2 in Fantasy Allsvenskan and are now starting to really get into it!

We keep the coverage going with the second in our series of gameweek review/preview articles, hopefully this can be a weekly feature going forward.

GW2 threw us managers some curveballs with rotation, penalty misses and perhaps most crucially, a certain right back from Djurgården lifting and breaking hearts alike!

Witry with a monster haul – get it or bench it?

Djurgården’s Aslak Fonn Witry (5.0m, won’t be for long…) secured the biggest haul of the season yet for any player with his 19 points courtesy of 2 goals, 1 clean sheet and 1 defensive bonus. He has been talked about pre-season and has quite an ownership already (32.7% at the time of writing). A few of those owners elected to place the pacey Norwegian on the bench for this game though (myself included, regrettably), we might have to start some sort of a support group…

Aslak Witry won’t be found on many benches going forward and that’s probably for the best.

IFK Göteborg showing signs of life

A team that (presumably) won’t be feeling the hard sting of Witry’s bench points after this week is IFK Göteborg. Having spent all last season looking dreadful, with economic issues and other things going on in and around the club, losing the first game this season against newcomer AFC Eskilstuna – faith was understandably pretty low for the blue and whites as they entertained Elfsborg who looked very lively against Hammarby. This time around however, Göteborg was having none of it and bar the first 15 minutes or so they were on top throughout, comfortably achieving a 3-0 victory which honestly really flattered an uninspired Elfsborg side. 17-year old striker Benjamin Nygren (5.5m) was the talk of the town post game, as he calmly slotted 1 goal and 2 assists. If he retains starts with Lasse Vibe (8.5m) coming in, he can be incredible value!

How hard is it to score a penalty?

In GW1 there was 1 penalty awarded (for Malmö), 0 scored. In GW2 there were 6 awarded, 3 missed (Malmö, Falkenberg, Göteborg) and 3 scored (Sundsvall, Häcken, Falkenberg). Malmö might want to spend some time working on spot-kicks during the week as not even changing the penalty taker made a difference. Interesting to see though that last year’s top scoring strikers Linus Hallenius (10.6m) and Paulinho (12.0m) are at least able to pad the stats a bit, but an overall improvement in penalty taking really need to be had.

GIF Sundsvall beating rotation-prone Malmö

Tipped for a return to the top, Malmö has a squad that is incredibly deep by Swedish standards. For fantasy managers, that means a terrible situation not unlike another sky-blue squad currently involved in a Premier League title race. Malmö coach Uwe Rösler rang the changes against Sundsvall and suffered the consequences, 4 players from Malmö’s GW1 starting eleven missed out and midfielder Arnór Ingvi Traustason (8.5m) was shunted to left-back (but still nicked a goal). Sören Rieks (9.5m) and Marcus Antonsson (11.0m) was a surprise for many to see on the bench and particularly owners of Rieks will be left feeling disappointed, as he was an unused substitute when Malmö tried and failed to claw back the deficit.

Linus Hallenius is starting this season in great form with 3 goals from his first two games (also confirming in the process that he takes penalties, as expected). Unlike Antonsson there are no questions about him starting every game and he is very important for a Sundsvall team that is continuing to defy expectation, looking even better than last year when they emerged from nowhere to become quite a decent side. If he continues this way he won’t be owned by a mere 13.9% for long…

Preview GW3

First and foremost it’s important to note that it’s a Friday deadline, so don’t get caught out!

The gameweek kicks of with AFC Eskilstuna against Örebro, a struggling Örebro side that has started this season with two straight losses, shipping 4 goals and scoring 0. Eskilstuna looks a decent shout to record their first clean sheet of the season if Örebro continues to look as lacklustre as they did against Djurgården. Kadir Hodzic (4.5m) is primed to continue his solid start from a wing-back position.

On Saturday we have Falkenberg-Häcken and Kalmar-Norrköping. Paulinho and Jeremejeff (9.6m) owners will strongly be considering either one for the captaincy, even though there are quite a few good options this week. Kalmar and Norrköping have only managed a point each so far and will be starting to feel the pressure. Expect Kalmar to go for it in front of their own fans, but Norrköping should have enough quality to record their first win of the season. Can players like Sead Haksabanovic (9.0m) and Cristoffer Nyman (9.9m) get going? Norrköping certainly need them to.

Sunday has three fixtures with Elfsborg-Sundsvall, AIK-Sirius, and Malmö-Östersund. Elfsborg will be needing to show some fight and bounce back after being annihilated by Göteborg, Sundsvall will be looking to continue their brilliant start to the season. Elfsborg are traditionally very strong at home, but with Sundsvall showing impressive form, I’d not be surprised if both sides score in this one. Owners of Pawel Cibicki (8.5m) and Linus Hallenius could reap the rewards.

AIK beginning the season with two straight 0-0 draws will need to actually start scoring some goals to go with that defensive masterclass. Sirius is flying high after winning their first two games with 2-0 and 3-2. Sirius doesn’t tend to set up to “park the bus” and will have nothing to lose in this one. AIK to lose their first clean sheet of the season but still produce a much-needed win? Daniel Sundgren (7.0m) to score a goal from the penalty-spot perhaps…

Malmö desperately needs a win to avoid some questions starting to arise about their shape this year. Östersund are no push-overs however and this really could go either way. Antonsson should be restored to the line-up but perhaps even more interesting to see will be how Östersund perform in their second tough away game of the season already, their fixtures do ease up a bit after this and there are some good attacking players there, like Hosam Aiesh (9.5m) who got 3 goals and 14 assists last year.

The final two games are played on Monday and it will be Helsingborg-Hammarby and Djurgården-Göteborg. Hammarby need to start collecting wins if they are to repeat or improve upon last years “feat” (where they missed out on a top three spot to Malmö in the last round), Helsingborg has started off strongly and will put up a stern test. Hammarby can’t really defend but have been somewhat underperforming attack-wise – goal fest at Olympiastadion? Vidar Örn Kjartansson (10.0m) hasn’t performed for his price-tag and Rasmus Jönsson (7.6m) will look to repeat his GW1 heroics.

Djurgården will be entertaining an optimistic Göteborg, where Mohamed Buya Turay (9.5m) looks a solid captaincy shout. Witry will no doubt be feeling positive after his brace against Örebro and you’d be forgiven for hovering the vice-captaincy over him as a “pat yourself on the back for his inclusion in the discussion”-kind of punt; but perhaps we should temper our collective hubris on the attacking defender just a little bit. Still, I might just vice him for the above mentioned reasons anyway.

So there you have it!

What struck you as interesting from GW2?

How are you preparing for GW3?

And perhaps most importantly, where can I turn to for GW2 Witry-benching support group?

Meltens

Friday deadline in Allsvenskan this week!

How is your team looking? Who are you looking to transfer in?

    Who will your captain be?

Thanks for the write up Meltens, very much appreciated.

GW 2 – I had Rieks on the pitch and Witry on the bench so by default I ended up with a very decent 77 pts and jumped up the rankings to 611th.

GW 3 – I’ve transferred out Radetinac the D.I.F. midfielder as he hasn’t played any minutes yet and also out went Celik of Hacken, looks like he could have another season like last with reduced minutes on the pitch (just 835 minutes last season).

I’ve brought in Moro of H.I.F and Nalic of Eskilstuna, both have had great starts and both are very kindly priced I think (6.1m and 5.7m respectively) and both have home fixtures in GW 3. And it’s left me 1.9m in the bank to plug a few other holes in the coming weeks.

      https://en.fantasy.allsvenskan.se/a/entry/1436/history

GW 3 captain will be Buya Turay of D.I.F

I went with three AIK defenders from the start and that’s paid off so far, I can’t see me changing that any time soon barring injuries.

Do you know what kind of injury Jarl has? It just says ‘damaged’ (translated) on his player profile.

      Many thanks

Cheers! Very nice getting Witry in from the bench... Seems like good transfers and Buya (C) is solid 🙂
Triple AIK defence is brilliant, have gone a bit different at the start but will try to increase my defensive "cover" over time.

As for Jarl - the information is very limited regarding his updated status, the reason he didn't feature last time around was because of a groin injury picked up in training (https://www.ekuriren.se/sport/afcs-nyckelspelare-missar-siriusmatchen-sm4805155.aspx, Swedish link), very unclear if he is back now but no real indication that it was anything serious.

Great thanks, I think I'll hold on to Jarl then at his price, could be one of the bargains of the season and Eskilstuna seem to have goals in them at the moment.

What's the consensus regarding future DGW's, chip strategy etc?

Paulinho is hindering the balance of my team, and I don't fancy taking too many hits so thinking of using WC.

      Joelsson
      Karlsson Lundgren Danielsson Kojic
      Christiansen Levi Thorarinsson
      Buya Turay Paulinho Prodell

      Hansson, Jarl, Persson, Isherwood.

Not keen on Levi and Prodell, also need Witry in. All this means downgrade of Paulinho. Would have liked Jonsson as well but out of Helsingborgs spots

All that would mean -8 minimum...

There are two DGWs scheduled and blanks in 18. I think chips will be used then, but it doesn't seem like too much chaos

I'm looking at the following transfers :

Kojic, Levi, Paulinho, Prodell out for Witry, Nalic,Hallenius and Jeremejeff for a -8

Then looking to captain Nalic as a punty choice, Orebro (h) looks good on paper.

Can't complain with the start to the season really, but my team is filled with non starting options.

Have lost 0.2 in team value owning Radetinac and Diouf, and my Irandust punt didn't work. Tempted to keep the latter for one more GW, but Radetinac/Diouf needs sorting out. Diouf looks fine after his injury, and I can start him this GW, but he won't be an option going forward. Radetinac have yet to play this season.

With value lost in both, I need to downgrade to 6.0 or less options. Anyone to consider – that can play every gameweek if needed? The other option is to downgrade Paulinho to Jeremejeff in order to get more funds, and take a -4 hit to upgrade one of Radetinac/Diouf. Could of course just do Paulinho > Jeremejeff and upgrade next GW too. Looks a tricky round anyway.

      Thoughts?

I think the Paulinho downgrade to Jeremejeff makes a lot of sense, frees up so much cash! Radetinac looks to have limited gametime this season with Bärkroth/Ajdarevic/Ring seemingly favoured over him (and he’s getting on a bit and has had a lot of injuries in the past, think they don’t want to put to much pressure on him).

Just did the Jeremejeff transfer. Question now is if I want to take a hit to transfer out Radetinac as well. Can just as well bench him this week too.

I banked a transfer after GW1 to react with more data. With that in mind I've made two for GW3.

I was very silly to give into temptation and pick Ravel Morrison and I've shuffled him out to bring in Nalic, the Malmo youngster who has made a flying start on loan at Eskilstuna. At his parent club, I've used the funds to bump Rieks up to Christiansen, who seems more nailed on and could be my 'Sterling' – set and forget, ride the rotation and back his overall return strength.

A potential problem now (for many I suspect) is Witry is injured. He's hurt his calf in training today, but assessing it over the weekend ahead of the Monday night game. As well as possibly losing an important asset in him, I've kept Jarl in midfield despite his groin injury keeping him out for at least this week. So that's possibly two injuries of unknown lengths to deal with...

Maybe this is Fantasy karma for me. I was one of the fortunate ones with Witry in GW2. He came off the bench because Rieks didn't feature at all. At least I don't have to worry about a price drop as I had him from the start. Plus, his surprise brace propelled me to 84 points and the giddy heights of 356th overall!

Injury setbacks are annoying but I've had a strong start overall, which is a nice change of pace from FPL...

Injured Löfkvist to Hodzic, hopefully another step closer to actually having a playing bench. Jeremejeff (K) as per

Another great article for people like me who know nothing about this league, takk

Like the Hodzic pick, fully support it. Loving that it doesn't seem to matter if they concede, his baseline is so high (for a 4.5 def).

I tranfserred in Hodzic and Nalic for a respectable 4 & 5 points respectively.

      Pettersson
      Sundgren Odilon Witry* Hodzic(4)
      Nalic(5) Thorarinsson Christiansen Tankovic
      Jeremejeff BuyaTuray (k)

      Amos Islamovic Jarl! Henriksson

Now that I have some money itb after downgrading Celik to Nalic, I will be monitoring Islamovic's minutes and will likely sell him.

OR 341 and team in nice shape.

    Love these updates, thanks!

Had an excellent GW2 and jumped up the ranks to top 800.

Since I had to take out Granli after GW1, I'm now bringing in Dimitriadis to make sure I always have an AIK defensive doubble-up. Still not convinced he's a regular starter, but surely they can't take him out after two concecutive clean sheets?

At the beggining of the week I spent most time thinking about wheter I should use my "Attack" chip this week or not? Buya (Göteborg H), Jeremejeff (Falkenberg A) and Obasi (Sirius H) looks like excellent fixtures, but since I fear Obasi might be close to a becnhing, I think I'll avoid. Have started to plan for the DGW11 and DGW13, but don't think I'll use "Parkera bussen" or "Attack" those weeks due to the fixtures. More likely that I'll use "Två kaptener" on perhaps AC and Antonsson and hope for no more rotation.

My captain this week is Jeremejeff.

Cheers! Noticed that even though Jeremejeff doesn't have a DGW, their fixtures line up nicely with DGW11 and DGW13, facing Göteborg and Hammarby at home. I might save the "Attack"-chip until then and let Jeremejeff + 2 DGW-strikers run riot. Long way to go though!

I'm looking at captaining either Buya or Jeremejeff, currently have it on the latter (had to bin Kjartansson unfortunately :()
AC and Antonsson should be shoe-ins for the DGW.

Very good article Meltens! I have done one transfer this gameweek. I swapped Dahlin to skinner simply because the Malmo defence have looked very shaky and AIK looks amazing defensively as usual.

My captain choice is either Sundgren or Buya this week. Haven’t really decided yet.

However after this gameweek I am very sure that I will play my wildcard mainly because of that I don’t have any Sundsvall players and Djurgardens schedule coming up looks very tough. I have pretty much decided on the team that I want to have (might change a little bit depending on this upcoming gameweek)

    Linner
Witry - Lindkvist - Sundgren - Sandberg (Kossonou)
Irandust - Christiansen - Eddahri (Jarl, Astedt)
    Hallenius - Kjartansson - Larsson

Thoughts about any of the topics that I mentioned would be very helpful!

The Wildcard team looks good, perhaps a little weak midfield, and I'm still not convinced by Kjaertanson when there are so many other good options up front.

Although the wildcard team looks good, I would still advice against using the wildcard this early. We still have very little information about how good the teams are, which players are really nailed etc. If you really want Hallenius, could you get him by taking a -4 hit? I think the wildcard should be used later, and with chips and DGW in mind.

I have started to get some doubts over Kjartanssons relative fantasy value (still think he is a great player), just shipped him for Jeremejeff.

I really want Sandberg in long term though, I think he’s going to be Witry-esque with assists at the very least!

Took a look at some of the best teams this gameweek and saw that a bunch of players used theire "Parkera bussen" chip to collect almost 90p, which is unreal. Witry alone gave them 38p, and an AIK doubble-p added another 28p. Feels sad to know I'll never be able to get such a reward from my chips.

I'm going to captain Nalic against Örebro. I know the dataset is tiny but he is the form midfielder at home against the bottom club in the table. I missed GW1 completely so I need to take a few risks!

Have been working pretty hard to come up with a chips and wildcard strategy, but havn't fully decided yet. This is an option I'm concidering:

GW3-5: Trying to get Hallenius in somehow
GW6: Play "Attack" with Jeremejeff (AFC home), Hallenius (Falkenberg home) and Buya (Hammarby away)
GW9: Wildcard and fill up with triple AIK-defence + perhaps Witry and a Malmö defender. Also make sure to have 3 from Malmö.
GW10: Play "Parkera bussen" with triple AIK against Falkenberg, Malmö against Kalmar and Djurgården against Elfsborg
GW11: Play "Två kaptener" with perhaps AC and Antonsson for theire DGW. Would also have Hallenius who's got DGW.

Not even sure I could afford this, but it would maximize the chips I think. This tactic do have many downsides as well, so I still have a lot of work to do I think.

        1. MTPockets
            4 years, 11 months ago

Not knocking it as haven't gone through fixtures for each chip - but why the hurry to use them up by GW11 if not really focused on playing them in the doubles anyway?

        2. Niemi
          • 9 Years

          Linner
          Sundgren - Vindheim - Danielsson - Witry - Sandberg
          Christiansen - Tankovic
          Antonsson - Turay - Jeremejeff

          Bench: Jarl, Åstedt, Hellborg

Vindheim on the chopping block. Looking at either Dimitriadis for triple up (or Lindkvist, but not nailed I've heard), or Hodzic. If I get Hodzic I can upgrade Åstedt to someone like Nalic, and consider going 433 instead. Would also give me one bench player, as I currently don't have a starter there (Jarl not in the squad for this GW).

          Thoughts?

Calf injury, sounds about 50/50, wouldn't sell!

Paulinho assist when I take him out for Jeremejeff. Jeremejeff gets a yellow.

He was tripped but got booked for diving instead of a potential assist a penalty kick. Would probably have been 5p if it hadn't been a swedish referee.

Jeremejeff is a good player and and will come good in the long run. The extra 2.5 is much needed and could be spent elswhere. Again, it's like comparing Salah and Mane.

Good point. Looking at potential transfers, I'm 0.1 from a straight swap of Buya to Paulinho. Could consider that move with Buya having Häcken, Norrköping and Hammarby up next.

I still think Paulinho is too much money concidering how difficult it is to find midfielders at a decent price. I'm still fully convinced that over the season, Jeremejeff will provide enough cover for Paulinho.

I was also concidering taking Buya out due to the fixtures, but that just doesn't seem right. He's a proven goalscorer in Allsvenskan, is already in good form an plays for a team that has scored 5 goals in 2 games. The Häcken game will be tough, but neighter Norrköping nor Hammarby have impressed defensivly.

I hope you're right! If Paulinho goes on a goalscoring run, while Jeremejeff doesn't, there's always the WC.

There's a big risk transferring out Buya now for sure. Don't know what to expect in the next few games though. Could work out fine, or backfire massively.

Hallenius has had a great start as well, so it might be worth considering a front three of Jeremejeff, Buya and Hallenius. It's easier to find an attacking trio to be happy with than a good midfield!

I think the games in which Paulinho goes of but Jeremejeff blanks will be quite few and far apart. Jeremejeff is integral to their play and will be in the points going forward. Unlucky with the timing but long term - we'll see! Possible double up the solution? Let's not forget Irandust at 9.5m though!

Would mean a triple-up as I brought in Irandust last GW! Hope he's back to regular playing time now.

Didn't have the -8, but I too pulled Paulinho thinking it looked like Jeremejeff would hold his own. Waiting for Hammarby tonight, I may well have played the worst PTB chip play of the season with 4 of 5 wiped so far... a chip giving me only 10 points leaves me a LOT of ground to catch up.

I'm really struggling with Allsvenskan, can't see a pattern at all.

Might end up ditching premium defenders and going all in on premium attackers...

I'm going to show some more patience.

The main reason is even if I WC, I have absolutely no idea who to put in it!

It's a difficult game, mainly because of the complete lack of information from the clubs regarding injuries etc.

The only "pattern" I can see so far is that people got absolutely no patience what so ever. After one game people were filling up theire teams with players from AFC, after two games people were forcing in Sirius players after two consecutive wins, ahead of GW3 people swapped Jeremejeff for Paulinho and now they're doing the opposite. It's madness, short sighted, chasing last weeks points and to be honest, I just don't think many people playing this game to win it.

We're 3(!) games into the season and almost nothing came be told at this stage. All I can do is encourage people to stay calm and make long term plans for theire teams.

Changing BACK to Paulinho makes no sense no, but I will defend my making the sideways swap, there is a lot of money freed up there, and hard to balance the team with Paulinho hoging so much budget.

            Petterson
            Hodzic - Isherwood - Sundgren - KOSSOUNOU
            Tankovic - Irandust - Thorarinsson
            Diouf - Jeremejeff - Buya
            (Joelsson - Witry - JARL - RADETINAC

Is this team close to WC ready? Jarl and Kossounou doubts and Radetinac hasn't played yet. Not to happy with the Diouf pick either. Have 2,4 m itb, and one free transfer.

Defenitly no need for a wildcard. I would look to find a replacement for Radetinac since you got the most money locked up in him. Eighter upgrade him, or downgrade to fund future moves for Odilon or Jarl.

Could downgrade Radetinac to a 4.5 option, and upgrade Diouf to Hallenius, for a -4. Quite tempting really.

Well this isn't going too well now. Odilon benched, Björkman subbed with an injury, Witry injuried, Jarl injuried and Bertilsson benched again. With Björkman, Jarl and Odilon all 4.0 I can't possibly find a replacement for eighter one of them with only 0.4 ITB.

Would like to downgrade Bertilsson and swap Obasi for Hallenius for -4, but that doesn't make much sense given how the rest of my team look. Obasi also got decent fixtures unlike Buya, but taking Buya out after scoring in every game so far makes even less sense. Deadline early friday and I don't have a clue what to do!

            Joelsson
            Karlsson Sundgren Danielsson Isherwood Witry
            Christiansen Nalic Thorarinsson Jarl Persson
            Buya Hallenius Jeremejeff

What to do with this mess?

            Witry injured, Jarl injured
AIK away but against Orebro. CS 50/50?
Danielsson, Buya & Jermejeff playing each other in a tough match
Christansen, Nalic & Joelsson all playing away.

Tempted to leave it and just wait another week for better info and trends and Captain Hallenius!

Haha wow, I thought this was your Wildcard team, because it looks excellent to me!

Leave it sounds very sensible, I don't think you have much to worry about. Jarl is apparently back in light training, and AIK face a dreadful Örebro with a good chance of another clean sheet. AC against Sirius is defenitly not a worry, I might even captain him if I don't get Hallenius. The Häcken-Djurgården game is tricky, but I guess you just have to hope for goals from both teams and some defensive bonus from Danielsson.

Thanks, seems like I'm worrying about nothing then!

Just seems like a lot of money tied up in defence... thought Sundgren's stats would have been better.

But yeah, still early doors after three weeks. Malmo have been disappointing so far I thought?

Yup I have to side with Bob here, looks great! Would just sit on it this week I think. Joelsson is fine for now but long term it's not certain he keeps his spot. Who do you have as back-up, Pär Hansson? 🙂
