Dugout Discussion

Murray starts against Cardiff as Duffy remains main focus

Glenn Murray (£6.4m) has returned to the starting line-up for Brighton.

The veteran forward was left on the bench for the 5-0 defeat Bournemouth on Saturday.

Also back in the side is Pascal Groß (£6.7m), making his first start since Gameweek 28.

After such a devastating result against the Cherries just a few days ago, it looks as if Chris Hughton has reverted to the 4-4-1-1 formation that brought more success for Brighton earlier in the campaign.

Solly March (£4.7m) is another returning face, stationed on the left of midfield, Alireza Jahanbakhsh (£6.7m) on the opposite flank.

Bruno (£4.4m) comes in at right-back to captain the side, while defensive pair Shane Duffy (£4.8m) and Lewis Dunk (£4.4m) keep their places in the side – as does goalkeeper Mat Ryan (£4.4m).

It is these options where the majority of Fantasy interest lies. 66,000 managers captained Duffy for Double Gameweek 34.

22.72% of those in the top 10,000 form part of that number.

Given that Cardiff have allowed more headed attempts and shots from set pieces in the last six matches, there is every chance that Duffy could nick some attacking returns.

Brighton XI: Ryan; Bernardo, Dunk, Duffy, Bruno; March, Pröpper, Stephens, Jahanbakhsh; Groß; Murray.

Cardiff XI: Etheridge; Peltier, Ecuele Manga, Morrison, Bennett; Ralls, Gunnarsson; Mendez-Laing, Camarasa, Hoilett; Niasse.

Probably prefer them rested so I could play BB without the risk of those idiots picking up negative points.

Rival brought in Camarasa & Ecuele Manga along with 2 Brighton clowns on WC. He's already eating into my lead by spawning 5 Vertonghen points from 3rd on the bench after Laca, Kola & Deulo no-shows.

A genuine question. What we're people thinking capping Duffy? He just wasn't even on my radar for the armband yet so many went for him. We weren't talking about a top defender here like Laporte or Robertson which i could understand but a pretty average one in a very average team. I own Duffy and Ryan and didn't for a moment consider capping either. Be interested to hear why those who did captain him decided he was the best shout.

      Usual dgw madness.

High potential reward but very high risk.

As it happened most captain options were poor anyway, so no great loss to those who did.

So each and every one of your decision turned out right? I guess not, but guessing you don’t want to be shamed for them.

I didn't captain him, but he seemed a fair enough punt - goal threat and cs potential over two decent fixtures. Son didn't come off for me either. I'd have captained Sterling if I was confident he was gonna start.

Obvious trolling, but he has two games against lesser(!) opposition. He has more than half the points of the top scoring defender, and more than half the points of everyone else bar three midfielders, therefore from a points expectation perspective it was reasonable and mathematically valid to captain him.
