Dugout Discussion

Murray starts against Cardiff as Duffy remains main focus

Glenn Murray (£6.4m) has returned to the starting line-up for Brighton.

The veteran forward was left on the bench for the 5-0 defeat Bournemouth on Saturday.

Also back in the side is Pascal Groß (£6.7m), making his first start since Gameweek 28.

After such a devastating result against the Cherries just a few days ago, it looks as if Chris Hughton has reverted to the 4-4-1-1 formation that brought more success for Brighton earlier in the campaign.

Solly March (£4.7m) is another returning face, stationed on the left of midfield, Alireza Jahanbakhsh (£6.7m) on the opposite flank.

Bruno (£4.4m) comes in at right-back to captain the side, while defensive pair Shane Duffy (£4.8m) and Lewis Dunk (£4.4m) keep their places in the side – as does goalkeeper Mat Ryan (£4.4m).

It is these options where the majority of Fantasy interest lies. 66,000 managers captained Duffy for Double Gameweek 34.

22.72% of those in the top 10,000 form part of that number.

Given that Cardiff have allowed more headed attempts and shots from set pieces in the last six matches, there is every chance that Duffy could nick some attacking returns.

Brighton XI: Ryan; Bernardo, Dunk, Duffy, Bruno; March, Pröpper, Stephens, Jahanbakhsh; Groß; Murray.

Cardiff XI: Etheridge; Peltier, Ecuele Manga, Morrison, Bennett; Ralls, Gunnarsson; Mendez-Laing, Camarasa, Hoilett; Niasse.

The idea wasn't ridiculous itself, especially when Brighton were at home to Cardiff.

it was risky, especially when they were playing against a Bournemouth side who attack and Cardiff who are fighting for survival. If you've watched Brighton this season, they have looked very nervous at the back.

    2 wildcards this season

Wildcard 1 - take Salah out and he scores a hattrick, load up on city and they go on their worst run for 2 years.

Wildcard 2 - remove all Bournemouth players and Pogba to load up on Brighton defence and Deeney.

I genuinely would be top 50 OR if wildcards didn’t exist!

        Fair point.

The first wildcard hurt more as I only activated it the evening before deadline. Didn’t want to but the fact Auba went up £0.6m in 2 weeks I thought he’d be 200% owned so I had to WC to get him - stupid in hindsight

    Camarasa assist = +3
    Ryan conceding 2 = -1
    Duffy (c) conceding 2 = -2

But Camarasa moves into Baps (pre-CS)

    Net: +2 points.

Mini-league rival triple captained Duffy as a maverick act of redemption. It's not been his season but this might actually force him to retirement. I thought it was funny in the Bournemouth game but now this is depressing from Brighton. They offer nothing in defense or attack.
