Dugout Discussion

Murray starts against Cardiff as Duffy remains main focus

Glenn Murray (£6.4m) has returned to the starting line-up for Brighton.

The veteran forward was left on the bench for the 5-0 defeat Bournemouth on Saturday.

Also back in the side is Pascal Groß (£6.7m), making his first start since Gameweek 28.

After such a devastating result against the Cherries just a few days ago, it looks as if Chris Hughton has reverted to the 4-4-1-1 formation that brought more success for Brighton earlier in the campaign.

Solly March (£4.7m) is another returning face, stationed on the left of midfield, Alireza Jahanbakhsh (£6.7m) on the opposite flank.

Bruno (£4.4m) comes in at right-back to captain the side, while defensive pair Shane Duffy (£4.8m) and Lewis Dunk (£4.4m) keep their places in the side – as does goalkeeper Mat Ryan (£4.4m).

It is these options where the majority of Fantasy interest lies. 66,000 managers captained Duffy for Double Gameweek 34.

22.72% of those in the top 10,000 form part of that number.

Given that Cardiff have allowed more headed attempts and shots from set pieces in the last six matches, there is every chance that Duffy could nick some attacking returns.

Brighton XI: Ryan; Bernardo, Dunk, Duffy, Bruno; March, Pröpper, Stephens, Jahanbakhsh; Groß; Murray.

Cardiff XI: Etheridge; Peltier, Ecuele Manga, Morrison, Bennett; Ralls, Gunnarsson; Mendez-Laing, Camarasa, Hoilett; Niasse.

I'm putting my good players on the bench this week when activating BB unless I'm going to captain them. Nice surprise for my rivals!

The problem with going with rational form and not choosing Duffy was that so many top10k were getting him that if he did end up getting a goal or fluking a cleansheet it would have been a large dent in rankings.

Duffy was basically just cover on case. No idea why people captained him though.

Yeah that’s true man. Someone comes up with a silly idea, it gets some speed on forum and people start tweeting about it, some known managers share the same idea on their youtube channels and all of a sudden Brighton defence is a must have. Just like Andy Carroll TC some years ago.

Next year it’s something different, but definitely at least as wacky because we never learn.

WCed out: Fraser, Wilson, Robertson, Salah, Pogba

In came the likes of Duffy(C), Dunk, Deeney with Trent on my bench.

A net loss of around 65 points if I'm not wrong.

    Not hurt.

Yeah because the players you sold scored loads more points than the ones you brought in

If I knew in Advance which players would score well the following week, I'd be 1st in the world.

Yep. My FH and WC were my big hope to catch up on my ML rivals who used their chips. Instead I've lost a ton of points to them.

      I'm done for this season.

Crazytown both Messi and CRon have scored 597 club goals. But Messi is 2.5 years younger GOAT

If Brighton only win 3pts (which are most likely at home vs Newcastle, as the other games are Wolves Arsenal Spurs City) Cardiff could go on top of them by winning vs Fulham away OR Crystal Palace at home

Goes on to highlight how Brighton had to turn up for this game, and still didn't. They also suffered their worst home defeat vs a "on the beach "Bournemouth". Fantasy managers with Bri defense were just unlucky, the logic behind it, and the stats, are sound.

I do hope Brighton gets relegated tho

Would love to see quite a few go down tbh. Brighton, Burnley, Cardiff, Huddersfield, Fuham etc.

Would love to see Rangers and Celtic in the PL and get some of the big clubs like Leeds and Villa back in too.

No, Cardiff would need 6pts if Brighton can get 3pts from somewhere as they are still 2 behind and have awful GD

So if I was to play BB this DGW is a -12 too much?

    Thinking of the following moves;

Ryan, Clyne, Brooks, Kane > Foster, Ferminia, Son, Jimenez

Crazy moves? and which one out of Son/Lucas Moura?

Advice much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Obviously no CS but bet Duffy scores in 35. I'm keeping. Decent goal threat from set pieces and corners. Not worth a hit to remove anyway, when you stop to properly think about it.

It's not optimism. But removing a DGWer for -4 is extremely unlikely to pay off

How is it unlikely? Removing for a better player with better fixtures, sounds like a win to me.
