Scoutcast Episode 292 – Hindsight

The captain hindsight brigade was out in full force this week to bash the Scoutcasters – among others – for recommending Brighton defender Shane Duffy for the Gameweek 34 armband.

With goal threat and two home games against Bournemouth and Cardiff, it seemed a good call. But with seven goals conceded without reply over this pair of games, reality had other ideas.

Az, Joe and their guest Adam Hopcroft take stock of a less-than-inspiring Double Gameweek, with no regrets about their armband blunder.

For Az and Adam, captaining a player with two fixtures over one had merit, especially in a week with no standout captain elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Joe was looking for another Stephane Sessegnon moment. This refers to the “VE Day”-style celebrations among the Fantasy community back in 2012, when the similarly unlikely Double Gameweek armbandee rifled in an injury-time goal against Reading for Sunderland in the Black Cats’ second match that week. It was so memorable that, almost seven years on, Az even remembers who got the assist during that magical moment.

Aside from assessing their newly deployed Wildcards, the crew also take stock of the community’s questions. The fallout from Troy Deeney’s red card and Mohamed Salah’s return to goalscoring form are among the issues covered.

Coping with rotation among the ranks of Manchester City and Spurs also gets an airing.

The Scoutcast’s latest talking point draws inspiration from the top managers this season, to find out what lessons we can learn from them and what it takes to gain an elite-level overall rank.

The community’s roughest and smoothest moves are looked at, including one of the most shambolic Wildcards of all time.

The crew finish off with a detailed look at their Gameweek 35 clean sheet predictions, differential tips, captaincy calls and transfer plans.

Just about recovered from last night. Can't really remember a game like it before. Anyway, can I get your thoughts on best move here.

    Fabianski
    Robbo TAA Doherty
    Salah Hazard Pogba Son Brooks
    Vardy King

    Etheridge Duffy Deeney AWB

1FT 2.2 ITB no BB left but still have TC

    Best move:

    A) Deeney to Jimemez and money ITB for Hazard to Sterling next GW
    B) Vardy to Jimenez and Pogba to Sterling for a -4 this GW.

    Cheers.

      Brilliant game last night
I actually think B might pay off, you're going to want Sterling for the run in

here is my BB team below.

    Foster Ryan
    Duffy, Taa, Dunk, Valery, Bennett
    Mane, Son, Kdb, JWP, Eriksen
    Aguero, Jimi, Vardy

Is this move worth a -8? Vardy, eriksen and dunk to llorente, sterling and vertonghen?

Is this bench worth a BB: Ryan, Duffy, Wan-Bissaka, Ward-Prowse

Could argue that the fixtures are better for week 36, but you only get one set of fixtures.

Got myself lumbered with about 40 Brighton players after that debacle last week, so now very tempted to improve my starting 11 this week and bench them all for their hideous double, then bench boost next week when they are at home to Newcastle, with at least a chance of something.

I’ve got Deeney too and I’d rather use my transfer on him, hence probably keeping my Brighton losers for now.

So my question is, do we think any Brighton keeper or defender is likely to score more points on a bench boost in:

    GW35 (wolves, spurs)

    or

    GW36 (NEWCASTLE)

    ?

Am I the only one eying up Bilva?

I already have KdB and I think the pair of them could be differential heaven. KdB more or less matched Sterling points at Palace anyway after all.

It’s a punt of course but in 36 I’m expecting to transfer out Kun for Bilva and Firmino. Part of the rationale is that Kun away is no great shakes and his run in is mostly away fixtures.

kdb and sterling are essential and probably bilva too. Aguero also can do the damage

Bilva is the one i love 😉

Although for me a choice between him & Kdb atm. So KDB for me this gw.

Already have Kun and Raz so don't want to disrupt everything

          Fair dos.

I have a Liverpool slot free and am in the mood for a calculated gamble. I can see Bilva and KdB getting great returns from here on in. There’ll be plenty of City goals and they should get in the action.

No Sterling is a gamble of course but as I say KdB pretty much matched him at Palace so it’s not entirely berserk as a punt

    Suggest me a 4.2m Defender.

    My team is:
    1 FT, 0.0 itb

    Lloris Foster
    Robbo Taa ****** Doherty Valery
    Sterling KDB Son Jota Deulofeu
    Aguero Jimenez Firmino

    Move is:

    Eriksen + Duffy >>> KDB + 4.2m Defender

Thank you mate for reply 🙂

I'm expecting KDB to explode & Eriksen playing too deep (possible rotation as he's playing every minute in last 3 games)

I still believe that Eriksen will get more minutes this dgw than KDB. Also I think that Brighton defence will come out good this week just because everyone is selling them 🙂

I think it makes sense. I was planning on holding Eriksen this week cos I have Deeney and Duffy to deal with. But now having Kun doesn’t feel enough and Laporte maybe had to go!
