FFS Cup

The latest FFS Cup fixtures and results

We’ve reached the quarter-final stage of our second FFS Cup of the season.

The draw for the last eight has now been made after the round of 16 took place in Double Gameweek 34, with a handful of ties being settled by the odd point or two.

FFS moderator Rotation’s Alter Ego edged out Lal Toofan (who is now ranked at 750 in the world) 50-48, with his choice of Son Heung-min as captain giving him a crucial extra three points over his rival.

Our highest-ranked remaining manager, HPCAMPBELL, saw off the challenge of aha_berg by 59 points to 44. HPCAMPBELL registered his tenth green arrow in a row in Gameweek 34 and now has an OR of 262.

Our one remaining FPL manager with a seven-digit rank bowed out of the competition. Vulken was defeated 35-36 by Hi Ho Silva Lining, who prevailed despite handing the armband to Shane Duffy and counting Troy Deeney – who was sent off against Arsenal – among his starting XI.

dark91 is now our lowest-ranked surviving manager, having recorded the highest score of the round in defeating Foot Fighter 61-39 – a 21-point haul from Lucas Moura helping dark91 to a seventh straight green arrow.

LOKOMOTIV is nicely positioned just outside the top 1k and he saw off I Member 49-45 in another close-run tie.

Another FFS site user sitting inside the top 5,000 exited the competition, however: Profa Benitez losing by the tightest of margins to Ibra-gum.

Roger150 and Skogen89 were the winners of our other two ties, defeating Evil Elvis and Insanity Later respectively.

The full sixth round results were as follows:

Best Deeney replacement (assuming his ban doesn’t get overturned)

(a) Andre Gray

    (b) Danny Ings

    Hi fellas

Need to get rid of Deeney, so narrowed down to two options:

    A) Deeney & Duffy -> Wilson & Bednarek (-4)
    B) Deeney & Eriksen -> Llorente & KdB (-4)

Which one would you choose? Not interested in Gray.

    The team currently is

    Foster Ryan
    Robbo Duffy Doherty Valery Vertonghen
    Mane Sterling Eriksen Son Hojberg
    Aguero Jimenez Deeney

I'd go B as well, though my reservation is that I can't afford a third pool player (defender probably with that route). Can you?

Looks like I could if I swap Vertonghen to TAA or Aguero to Firmino. Not sure if I want to do either though.

Not Son, Mane, Firmino or Lacazette.

Sterling or Jimenez imo. Leaning City right now. They'll want to make up for their recent result and Sterling could've had a hat-trick. Can't really afford to rest him either.

Sterling's form is red hot. Undroppable, especially with no CL.

Are Jiminez's fixtures better? Both home, against a failing Brighton and a poor Arsenal (especially away from home)...

I can't ignore Sterling's form, but can he do it against Manchester Utd and Spurs?

He just scored two vs Spurs in a more important game and could've had a third. Manchester United are past the honeymoon period, that match can easily end 4 or 5 nil.

Was originally going to start Deeney and have Lucas Moura on my bench but then Monday night happened. Should I use my FT to bring in Gray or just play Moura and bench Deeney? Also, I'm guessing there's no news on Valery and it's a case of waiting for presser?

      1. Contrary to the groupthink on here, I believe Sterling is more of a GWs 36 to 38 option than a GW35 one. Would be taking a hit to bring him in for Hazard in GW36

      2. Eriksen has Brighton

Sterling for me right now. Form is amazing, and it's actually probably a good thing that they're playing tough opposition - means he's unlikely to get dropped.

Jimenez. Playing a Brighton team that are capitulating spectacularly and an Arsenal team that only managed to get their first away clean sheet last Monday in a game where they were dominated by 10 man Watford. Also Jimenez has been incredibly consistent, scoring well even in difficult fixtures, which is why I've put the TC on him.

Sterling is of course an option but don't know how City will react to CL exit and two tough fixtures.

food for thought - deeney was missing in gws 9,10,11 earlier this season, success played 75+ and scored in gw 10, whilst gray played as a sub 21, 7, 24 minutes respectively with no returned points

      £12.6m to spend

      Pick a midfielder:
      Ramsey 7.1
      Mkhitaryan 6.7
      Jota 6.2
      Doucoure 5.9
      Deulo 5.6
      Redmond 5.3
      JWP 5.1
      Hojberg 4.4

      Pick a Striker:
      Rashford 7.4
      Wilson 6.6
      Gray 5.9
      Ings 5.4
      Long 4.6

Deeney replacements are horrible tbh, but this is where we're at.

        Gray

So hard to sell Eriksen, even if he is in the CL Semis. I assume you have Son, which is why you're considering selling Eriksen?

Looks good though, Mane a near essential when considering his form, relative price, fixtures and what he is playing for.

      Sterling, Mane, Eriksen, Son, Hojbjerg
      Aguero, Jimenez, Deeney

My original plan for GW36 was to downgrade Eriksen, then Firmino for Deeney.

Now I probably need to take a hit. Which one?

      A) One-week punt on Gray, Wilson or Rondon
      B) Sacrifice Eriksen v Brighton in order to bring in Lacazette & Deulofeu. Then Firmino for Laca GW36.

I mean whether you should use it this week depends on what benches you would use it on in future weeks and whether they would be better or worse than this one for this week.
