Half of FPL top 10k have exhausted chip supply

Nearly half of the top 10,000 Fantasy Premier League managers ahead of Double Gameweek 35 have now exhausted their chip supply for the season.

47.9% of those at that level have used all of the chips and will have to rely only on their transfers for Gameweeks 36, 37 and 38.

47.0% have just one left in their locker, with the Triple Captain currently the least used of the four.

That has been used by 59.48% of the top 10k managers, suggesting that there is a real opportunity either to make ground in that bracket or break into it with an effective deployment of the Triple Captain.

Not surprisingly, the Bench Boost was deployed extensively at that level of the game for this round of fixtures.

The number of top 10k managers who had used it after the Double Gameweek 35 deadline rose from just 18.61% to 86.12%.

That means a huge 67.51% of them are enjoying points for all 15 players over the next few days.

The most popular cheaper options likely to have been included in Bench Boost scores are Shane Duffy (£4.8m), Mat Ryan (£4.4m), Yan Valery (£4.1m) owned by 44.88%, 39.68% and 39.05% of the top 10k respectively.

There was a small portion of upper echelon who considered the Triple Captain chip.

7.87% of them went for an enhanced skipper for Double Gameweek 35, with Raheem Sterling (£11.5m), Sergio Aguero (£11.8m), Raúl Jiménez (£6.9m) and Son Heung-min (£8.8m) the only four options considered for it.

Manchester City’s midfield star Sterling was the most popular from that quartet for the Triple Captain among the top 10k and has it all to do at Old Trafford after scoring just one point against Spurs.

Those options were also the key players in the normal captaincy debate too, which was exceptionally tight at the top level just as it was for everybody else.

Sterling was handed the armband by 28.14% of managers in the top 10k, more than any other player.

Aguero was second placed with 24.57% and Jiménez third on 22.08%.

Given that last weekend was the most popular for the Wildcard chip, it should be no surprise that there was little change in the top 10k most owned players between Gameweek 34 and 35.

The only major difference between the two models is up front. Jamie Vardy (£9.0m) was the third most popular forward among the top 10k for Double Gameweek 34, behind Aguero and Jiménez, but that honour now falls to Alexandre Lacazette (£9.4m).

The Arsenal man is in 22% of top 10k squads for Double Gameweek 35, with fixtures against Crystal Palace (home) and Wolves (away) coming up.

Those who had Wildcarded in Double Gameweek 34 also had to make a change, following Troy Deeney‘s (£5.9m) sending off on Monday night.

Despite conceding seven goals in Double Gameweek 34, Duffy remains among the most owned defenders, although has lost a fair amount of his backing among the top 10k.

No defender was in more squads than him last time around, with 71.6% effective ownership in the top 10k, but that dropped to just 51.86% for Double Gameweek 35, which of course will be influenced by considerably fewer captain’s armbands.

Was planning Salah in to TC, so

I’m picking whoever is top of the captain poll next GW.

Probably Salah or Mane I guess.

Then that way I jinx the out of them I’ll have at least ruined loads of other people’s GWs/seasons

Yeah but here are the real questions...

          a) Team signs 10 morbidly obese 7' players - 9 of them line up along the goal-line, the other 2 are held above the shoulders of said 7 players on the goal-line, blocking the entire goalmouth from kick-off until the full time whistle. No attempt to score or even play football, only to block their goal... every game ends 0-0. Is that cheating?

          b) From kick off, the 9 teammates of the player on the ball all form a circle and link arms. As a unit they walk the ball towards the opponents goal, only opening the circle to allow the player inside to smash the ball in to the opposition's net. IS THAT CHEATING?!

          c) Team signs a player with the fattest nattiest dreads you've ever seen, he braids his hair in to a bowl shape. After kick off, one of his team mates delicately lobs the ball in to the "hair bowl". Natty dread man then carries the ball to the opponents goalmouth and tips it in to the net. IS THAT CHEATING THOUGH?!

That's sort of my question. Obstruction surely doesn't equal a player being obliged to move out of your way so you have a free run at the ball?

What is the OR measure of respectability at the end of the season? Mini-league is probably won with OR of around 84k before this gameweek,, but best I have ever posted is just under 40k in three years. Feel that 10k is what most managers would aspire to if they 'try', I try but am nowhere near those elite players, so should I be happy with striving for sub 50K? I was about to ask about how I move on from 84K to 10K but then looked at the 100 points of hits I have taken this season...

9 top 100k finishes in the last 12, probably 10 after this season. Never been near top 10k. Think that requires a bit more drifting from the sheep / this site. Best weeks I've had are when following my own gut instinct, but this site definitely helps.

Many thanks for all your responses, feels like I should aim to be sub 50k, 10k could be considered a serious 'player' (inbetweeners anyone?), but anything sub 100k is not terrible...

Unfortunately the gaps get bigger and bigger as you move up so it gets exponentially harder almost. That being said my expectation is that if you are a genuinely active player then you should finish top 100k unless luck is against you. A realistic repeatable target for a manager who watches football and has a look at the stats is top 20k every year in my opinion. Anything less than 5k and you need a little good fortune at certain points. If you are winning mini leagues by beating players who finish sub 100k more often than not you are probably doing well.

                A or B?
                B) Firmino and Duffy/Valery rotation
                B) Llorente and VVD

Any Liverpool fans around can tell about Taa chances to play all 4 matches ??
Have him & Robbo in the team. With KDB Injury I'm thinking about getting Mane in the team. So, I'd need to sell Robbo/Taa. If sell Robbo i can get Laporte IN so it's better tp have Laporte + Taa than Robbo + other Defense that we don't trust.

                Thank you in advance !!

Not a Liverpool fan but my take on it for what it’s worth - I own taa robbo and mane now and I am a bit wary of taa getting rotated so it could happen but having played bench boost I’ve got decent options to come in if that happens, you might be the same? I would probably go Laporte and taa, although tough to sell robbo I think having mane is a no brainer

I own 3 Liverpool players too, and I would love to own Salah. Are you considering getting him in for the run in or just running with Mane?

Just running with mane. I looked at getting salah and there was no easy way without seriously sacrificing rest of my team. Plus when you look at the numbers and watch the games, I actually think mane is the better option - his chances are all close range and he looks so dangerous whilst salah is needing to hit a screamer from 30 yards

Indeed. I practically went all season with Salah and went Mane-less, so I was on the other end of it and I was just getting killed week in week out. Mane has been a country mile better this season, from a FPL and a footballing perspective. I think it would be nice to own two as we approach the last few games because I can't see them being rotated at all because the title is so important to Liverpool, but I tend to agree with you. It's not worth turfing up your team for one £13m player at this stage in the season.

KDB Injury have left me in a worrying spot tbh. 15/20 possible points swing for me this gw (lost).

Laporte Taa looks much better than Robbo 5.2m Defender right ?

I like Laporte and taa. Can see Man City and pool barely conceding to end of season. If you have wolves defender for example as backup then ideal if any rests

Don't think he'll be benched in any of them (except maybe GW 37 which is pretty unpredictable right now), more likely to be subbed off like against Southampton and Porto...

But whether the subbing happens before or after 60' is the gamble 😀

Robbo looks great tbh, but if it's between Laporte Taa / Robbo 5.2m Defender which there aren't many options with pretty much guaranteed CS, Taa looks like the one to me.

Unscientific method, but have a look at your top 5 bench scores of the season so far (look at GW History). If you are scoring at least an average of those 5 then you should be okay.

Using this method on my own bench I would be looking at somewhere around 19 points.

They're ok but encourage group think. Most of us are too scared to use them outside of particular gameweeks.

TC is the biggest crock, though. A complete lottery. Your expertly picked DGW TC player could be injured or even sent off in the first minute and it would be completely wasted, or actively detrimental. There's less overall skill involved in FPL in the chip era.

Any Kola owners online? I honestly don't know what to do about him. I need to sell Pereira, and probably Rudiger but he (Arsenal) is so inconsistent and I think unless he starts both games this DGW I'm going to have to prioritise selling him.

He's Redmond, sadly. He's Walcott and Tadic and Mata and all the other nearly men rolled into one.

I own 3 Pool players and now my attention is on City assets. Who do you think I should consider? I've got £2.4 itb, but I have two different areas to look at. Rudiger or Pereira could go for Walker or Laporte, but likewise I could look at getting in Bernardo Silva or someone like that. Any ideas at this stage would be magnificent, thanks guys.

Fair play to anyone enjoying FPL this season. I for one am finding it more depressing as weeks pass by.

Been awful. Deleted my GW2. Reactivated before GW3. Worst decision I’ve ever made.
