FPL Question Time – Consult our panel ahead of Gameweek 36

The final Double Gameweek of the season is almost over and the end of 2018/19 is in sight, with just three Gameweeks left to navigate.

Fantasy Premier League managers have less than 48 hours between the culmination of Gameweek 35 and the deadline for Gameweek 36, which is at an earlier-than-usual time of 19:00 BST on Friday because of the televised clash between Liverpool and Huddersfield Town.

That game at Anfield is perhaps the central focus of many FPL bosses’ plans, especially for those with the Triple Captain chip left to use.

You can ask one of our panel a question on this topic or any other subject relating to Fantasy football by filling in the form below.

Who’s on the panel this week?

Ben Crabtree – A former winner of Fantasy Premier League, Ben finished first in the overall rankings in the 2016/17 season.

FPL Family – Lee and Sam are the well-known married couple who play Fantasy football together and run a YouTube channel documenting their thoughts. They have appeared on the Official FPL show this season.

G-Whizz – One of our very own moderators on the site, who currently has an overall rank of 6,521 going into Wednesday’s final two fixtures of Gameweek 35.

Given Llorente’s performance over the DGW, do we think he’ll start v West Ham at the weekend?

Might actually hand Janssen a start. Llorente was awful yesterday.
However, I doubt West Ham will defend as low as Brighton which will be good for the quicker Spurs-players like Son and Moura.

I think he'll be rested for Ajax as Son is suspended for that and they're short of strikers.

Think City will score more against Burnley than Pool against Hudd.

No personally. Burnley offering up much more fight than Hud at this stage.

Think when its 2:0, Klopp will start preserving his players. Pep will only preserve Kun. City will still go all out till the last minute, especially the likes of second strings, eg. Sane, with Pool having their minds on Barcelona when the game is done and dusted.

Burnley in solid form and Hudd red hot trash though, so you never know really.

That's a fair comment, not sure Klopp can afford to be too casual with resting players at this point though. Pool not had as hectic a schedule recently either.

Fancy Liverpool to win by 3 or 4 v Huddersfield and 2-0 for City. Can see your point though. The league won’t go to goal difference and Liverpool have more games to rest players for.

    Quick question
    A) Eriksen -> Sterling
    B) Son + Llorente -> Sterling + Quaner (-4)
    C) Something else entirely

    Current team for some context:
    Ryan,
    TAA, Robertson, Kola, Doherty
    Salah (C), Eriksen, Son, Jota
    Aguero Jiminez,
    (Foster, JWP, Llorente, Valery)

I think you can maybe do without Sterling? Away to Burnley is a lot harder than home to West Ham. I’m actually toying with the idea of keeping Son and Eriksen and doing Sterling > Salah(c).
What about Jota to one of the Silva’s?

      1. maffew85
        • 5 Years
        4 years, 11 months ago

That's true, though I still favour City to do the business with their renewed focus on the league. I guess I'm inclined towards Sterlings haul potential & both Silvas have been disappointing when I've owned them (not that that should influence future decisions of course!)
Anyway certainly something I hadn't considered, thanks for the input 🙂

Pull back a 60 point gap with ML leader to just 8 points.

    This is a sad one.

I’ve had Jim ever since when but I suspect I’m going to wave him a very reluctant goodbye next week.

Really considering TC on Mane(don't have Salah and need a -4 or -8 to get him in, not sure that is reasonable). Other options are Aguero against Leicester and Pogba against Cardiff.

      Lloris

      Jimenez – Aguero – Rashford

      Foster – Redmond – Doherty – Valery

Would you consider Salah much better option than Mane for remaining games? I'd most probably have to downgrade Firmino if I want Salah over Mane and that probably wouldn't make sense :/

      Duffy. Kolasinac. TAA.
      KdB. Son. Sterling. Eriksen.
      Jimenez. Aguero. Wilson.
      Ryan. Redmond. Dunk. Valery.

      A) KdB -> Mane (TC)

Play Gross (NEW) or Camarasa (ful)?

Similar players in how they collect points. Brighton could turn up yet again playing destructive football while cardiff have to go for the win. Brighton got the home turf but i still think they face the tougher opponent. Thanks in advance 🙂

        2. 2146
        3. 2145
        4. 2136 [TC]
        5. 2135 [TC] *
        6. 2125 [TC] [BB]
        7. 2123

I'm currently sat in 5th, with my TC chip still in hand, based on this when is the best time to play it:

        1. GW36; Mane (HUD) *rotation risk*
        2. GW37; Kun or Sterling (LEI) *harder fixture*
        3. GW38; Kun or Sterling (bha)

I'll get shot of one for TAA after tonight, but do we have a favourite as to who to axe?
        A) Doherty (Wat FUL)
        B) Kola (Lei BHA)

        Will need one for 36-37.

          Kola for sure.

Arsenal don’t really do cleanies, and Kola is often a victim of being dropped to change systems

As a matter of interest has anyone had more than one player all season - I guess Robbo is the most likely candidate. Anyone else? With 50 plus transfers I’m nowhere close.

I’m half tempted to draft in Grant in 38 to complete the full set of teams represented at the other end of the spectrum.

I think just Robbo now and for good reason. Everyone else has let me down at some point 🙂
I've only been without Jimenez briefly and he's been amazing of course.

The one I regret is Hazard.

I’ve actually managed to hit most of his returns. But without working it out I’m fairly sure I’d have done better just to keep him all season. That was the plan!

Had AWB from GW1 until last GW.

Should have had Robbo all season, but foolishly got rid for Mendy just before he got injured

Quote from Liverpool Echo article about Salah in NYC for Time’s 100 Gala:

“The 26-year-old will return to Merseyside this week as Jurgen Klopp's side prepare to face Huddersfield on Friday at 8pm.”

Good for his owners I’d say... he’s got a well needed R&R break.

Not like at this stage of the season you need to be training all the time.

Pool Defense, City attack, Hazard, Pogba/Rashford, Milivojevic/zaha all great options imo

                Salah
                Mitrovic

In 37 & 38 almost all the big teams have great fixtures 🙂 . I agree that Mitro could also be a good weapon to end the season with

striker wise, I think Rashford, Mitrovic and Ings will all do very well in the last 3 GWs

Yes they are great options. I like the Ings pick, I expect Southampton assets to do well in 38 also ( Ings, Redmond, Ward prowse, Bertrand) could be massive differentials for 38

I like Palace. They have two tasty fixtures and I can see them going all out despite being safe. Zaha?

My feeling is that most of the top 6 matches will be a goal here or there and so I’ll be avoiding United for example.

                        4 years, 11 months ago

Yes I think Zaha is a great call tbh. If Kane comes back fit in 38 against Everton. A double up with Son might be good. Kane has a thing for doing well in most final gameweeks

Chasing and about 70p behind in ML.
Need some differentials and to take a risk on the TC.

                        Any better suggestions than this?

I don’t like the Aubameyang pick one bit.

He’s missed too many games recently in the League. They are still in Europa and Emery is a maniac.

                            I’d steer well clear

Babel TC looks ridiculous but maybe it’s genius given your position. You’ve got to TC someone that there is no chance e your rival owns.

My caution would be that Cardiff are fighting for their lives so won’t be an easy game

Huddersfield play united in 37 - maybe TC a United player in that game would be better (someone a bit different though : ie not Rashford or Pogba)
