Starts for Sterling, Aguero and Lacazette but Aubameyang misses out

Two Premier League fixtures take place this evening, bringing Double Gameweek 35 to a close.

Wolverhampton Wanderers host Arsenal in the 19:45 BST kick-off at Molineux before the Manchester derby gets underway at a rain-soaked Old Trafford 15 minutes later.

Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero both start for City but Pep Guardiola has made three changes to the side that beat Spurs on Saturday, with Vincent Kompany, Fernandinho and David Silva replacing John Stones, Phil Foden and the injured Kevin de Bruyne.

Bernardo Silva continues on the right flank with Sterling on the opposite wing, meaning no start for Riyad Mahrez or Leroy Sane.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has wielded the axe after the 4-0 loss at Everton, with Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard returning in place of Phil Jones, Diogo Dalot, Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial.

All bar the injured Jones of those five players are among the substitutes.

There is no Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the Arsenal matchday squad, with the Gabonese striker and wing-back Sead Kolasinac among seven players to drop out of Unai Emery’s starting XI.

Arsenal say that Aubameyang misses out this evening having had a “small sinus procedure”, while Kolasinac is among the substitutes.

Shkodran Mustafi, Mohamed Elneny, Carl Jenkinson, Matteo Guendouzi and Konstantinos Mavraponos are the other men to make way as Sokratis, Nacho Monreal, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi are recalled to Emery’s line-up.

The Arsenal head coach looks to be reverting to a 4-2-3-1, with Iwobi, Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil supporting Alexandre Lacazette in attack.

Leander Dendoncker for Morgan Gibbs-White is Nuno Espirito Santo’s only change, meaning that Raul Jimenez, Diogo Jota, Matt Doherty and Jonny all get two starts in Double Gameweek 35.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Darmian, Lindelof, Smalling, Shaw, Young, Fred, Pereira, Pogba, Lingard, Rashford.

Manchester City XI: Ederson, Walker, Kompany, Laporte, Zinchenko, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Silva, Bernardo, Sterling, Aguero.

Wolves XI: Patricio, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Doherty, Dendoncker, Neves, Moutinho, Jonny, Jimenez, Jota

Arsenal XI: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, Koscielny, Monreal, Torreira, Xhaka, Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Iwobi, Lacazette.

    Thoughts pls:
    1) Eriksen + Duffy + Laca >> Bilva + TAA + Firminho for -8

        I don't get this. -4 is gambling 4 points. -8 is doing it twice. Each one doesn't get more unlikely to pay off just because you've done another one.

      I actually like those moves. Maybe losing Erik for a hit might bite you, but it’s not like he’s explosive these days.

      But all 3 players you’re bringing in look great from here on out.

      If you’re chasing, may as well go for it. If consolidating, don’t.

    Am going to be stuck with a benching dilemma for the rest of the season now, as I’m sure many other BBers are.

    So, who to play this week;

    A) Deulo
    B) Wilson

    Foster Ryan
    TAA Laporte Doherty Duffy Valery
    Sterling Mane Eriksen Son JWP
    Aguero Jimenez Llorente

    1FT, 1m ITB

    No way to get Salah for -4 other than sacrificing two of Sterling, Aguero, Eriksen and Son. Is it even worth it?

          I'd consider selling Llorente tbh. At his age and with not much footy under his belt I suspect they won't risk him vs wet spam. Granted it is risky

            Yeah, he was a DGW replacement for Deeney. Don't see any good options in that price range plus I can always start JWP instead. Seems like a waste this week but I'll likely sell him before the season ends.

    If i'm playing Ryan (GK), which 2 do I start and who gets benched?

    A) Doherty
    B) Valery
    C) Dunk
    D) Cathcart

    Currently playing A+B, benching C and D (in that order). Sound about right?

    1. Get up ya bum
      • 14 Years

      The Ryan part is a non sequitur but yes you have the order same as I would. Doherty is obviously a no brainer shouldn't even be considering not playing him.

      1. Gt1996
        • 6 Years

        Is it? (The part about Ryan) I have Gunn who I could also play, but I did consider a Brighton defensive double up after how they performed over DGW + The fact that Almiron is out.. Just not sure if its worth the risk

        1. Get up ya bum
          • 14 Years
          5 years, 1 day ago

          Doubling up or spreading the risk over two defences is more of a psychological thing than anything else. Coverage in defence as a strategy does hold a little water unlike attacking coverage which is a completely useless idea but when it comes to picking your 11 eggs in baskets and attackers vs defenders is all psychological biases that should be ignored.

          Fwiw I'm playing Gunn over Ryan but it's close to a 50/50 so ignore me and back your boy there

    So going for KdB as a 5th MF to Son-Sterling-Eriksen-Mane didn't work too well... Esp the Doherty downgrade

    There's two ways I see this going. Which one would you like?

    A) KdB -> Salah, Eriksen -> Jota (or cheapy and play Ings)
    B) Vardy -> Firmino, KdB -> anyone not Salah (Sane?)

    1. Kroos Kontrol
      • 11 Years
      5 years, 1 day ago

      Option B keeps a hold of Eriksen, who I'm just significantly more reluctant to lose compared to Vardy

      1. Get up ya bum
        • 14 Years
        5 years, 1 day ago

        Yeah this is a big part of why I prefer B and I also think Bobby is a good pick and a plethora of good midfield options to replace kdb

      2. seewhyaxe
        • 7 Years
        5 years, 1 day ago

        With that defense of Arsenal's, I think you should keep Vardy.

        I'm in the same dilemma where I need to move KDB to either Sterling or Salah, and lose either of Eriksen/Son/Vardy to fund the move

        1. Kroos Kontrol
          • 11 Years
          5 years, 1 day ago

          I think it's looking like I'll move KdB to Sane, and then it becomes a question of whether Vardy -> Firmino is worth a hit (probably not).

      Meh we can't predict injuries. I got him too. At least we got a nice haul gw34.
      I prefer B. Sane a good option. As is jota. Bernardo if you want security of starts. Sig a great pick. Pogba worth a look with those fixture.

        • 11 Years

        Yeah, what I'd give to have had those 3-assists against Spurs lol.

        I think I'm leaning towards Sane too, esp with Fernandinho and Gundogan knocks meaning Bernardo is probably going back into midfield.

    Ryan Foster

    c) Aguero + Erikson > Salah + 7.8m mid (-4)

      I think it depends on whether you want to TC Salah. If so, get him in. If you don't rate him enough to TC him against HUD H, then probs not worth for a hit (I'm not a big Salah fan so take that with a grain of salt)

      I can't justify losing Sterling, Jota or both Aguero and Eriksen in combos just to get Salah and a meh replacement.

      How about Gray and Eriksen to Firmino and Redmond? Is it possible? Means you get Redmond vs Huddersfield in 38 and an extra Pool attacker in 36.

          Yeah it all hinges on the pressers for me.

          have 2 FTs and considering a -4 taking Llorente, Duffy and Eriksen out for Firmino, Bennett and Redmond.

          Not sure if it's worth the punt to get rid of Eriksen though. Plus a hit could mean being booted from LMS. 🙂

    1) Doherty > TAA (exact funds atm)
    2) Save FT

    1FT, 0.3itb
    Ryan
    Robbo, Doherty, Laporte
    Mane(tc), Son, Sterling, Jota
    Aguero(tvc), Wilson, Jiménez

    Broke into the top 20k with a massive 122 points and chasing my record from previous and first season (17k'ish). Is there a slim hope of a 10k finish?

    Will be using TC this week. But really clueless on what to do

    A) Eriksen -> Mane (TC)
    B) Sterling + Ryan --> Salah (TC) + fodder -4
    C) Aguero + Jota/Deulofeu --> Salah + Rondon -4

    Feels dumb to get rid of Jota or Deulofeu before a good run in. So its either A or B I suppose.

      Congrats on the GW mate! Eriksen is in good from and WHU are dodgy at the back, also wouldnt fancy removing a City big hitter at Burnley! I know its not much help but I really dont like any of those.

        Thanks Embo. So you suggest A?

        I'm strongly considering to use the TC on a City player in 37 (home to leicester) if I go with A. I'm just not as confident in Mane as I am in Salah/Aguero/Sterling

          A is fine but i think the likelyhood of eriksen being heavily rotated is slightly overstated on here, and liverpool perhaps understated. upgrading a defender to lfc could be a better move

            I cant see Liverpool resting any players. There is a slim chance of City throwing away points and they shouldn't reduce that chance by not playing their strongest XI

          Well, you have a strong team for next week right now, which is one of the reasons I wouldn't take a hit. Instead, I'd be looking at the final three GW's as a series in which there are 3 free transfers. You also have some good TC candidates. And while Pool v Huddersfield is certainly the best fixture next week there are others as well, and then a couple more in 37. So that's the context in which I see other options.

          Fixtures of Leicester aren't exactly mouthwatering. Both Arsenal and Chelsea desperately need the points.

          Arsenals form is not the best atm, but they should be very hungry after two consecutive losses shipping 3 goals.

    Is Keane or Zouma a look in for the next two games? Everton have now got 6 clean sheets in their last 8 games. They are up against Crystal Palace(A) and Burnley(H) before playing Spurs in the last game week.

    I currently have Dunk/Duffy double up who they have NEW, ars MCI, looking at shifting Duffy and use the 0.3ITB to go to Keane or Zouma.

    Team as is
    Lloris (Gunn)
    Laporte Robertson Duffy (Dunk Valery)
    Sterling Mane Son Jota (Hojbjerg)
    Aguero Firmino Jimi

        Getting Salah equals dumbing Sterling for a hit

        Getting Mane is straightforward swap with Eriksen.

        Not confident in Mane (TC), but not happy to lose Sterling either.

    Which looks best going into next GW?

    Tough one here with KDB especially.
    1. Vardy-> Firmino.
    2. KDB-> Salah + Vardy-> Wilson/Zaha (7.1m) -4.
    3. KDB-> Sterling + Vardy-> Rashford/ Wilson/ Zaha (8.7m) -4.
    4. KDB-> Bilva + Vardy-> Firmino (12.7m) -4.
    5. KDB -> Bilva.

    Have TC too and thinking either Mane/Salah.
    Lloris.
    TAA, Duffy, Kola.
    KDB, Mane, Jota, Son.
    Jimenez, Aguero, Vardy.
    Foster, JWP, Dunk, Bednarek.

      2 is something i'm looking at with eriksen and vardy to salah+fodder...but cant justify losing two in form players for salah who has been little meh.

        Salahs coming into form now though, confidence is back

        Cant justify selling Eriksen based on his form, Son is in poor form, but likely to play

        Spurs in a good position league wise, so Poch might be tempted to rest Eriksen.....

        Vardy the inform forward so cant justify losing him....

        Agueros forms not great and seems to be getting taken off again early....maybe Sterling enough City ?

    I can't help but feel it is wiser to use the TC on a City player this week or next instead of a Liverpool asset.

    Liverpool will most likely sub some offensive player as soon as they reach a 2 goal lead. If they don't reach a two goal lead it won't be worth it anyway.

    City on the other hand, should just go pure Hulk and Smash. No reason not to finish the season off with a bang.
