Good news for Salah’s Fantasy owners ahead of Gameweek 36

Fantasy managers were offered reassuring comments by Jurgen Klopp in his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon.

Mohamed Salah‘s midweek trip to New York and Liverpool’s forthcoming UEFA Champions League double-header against Barcelona are nagging doubts ahead of Liverpool’s appealing Gameweek 36 fixture against Huddersfield Town but Klopp was quick to pour scorn on any suggestion that he would have one eye on next week’s trip to the Nou Camp.

Klopp said:

I will not push that wrong mindset with a fresh line-up or whatever, no chance for that. We had enough time to recover from the last game, we have enough time to recover for the next game. Barcelona has nothing to do with the game on Friday.

Asked if Salah’s brief jolly to America would be an issue ahead of Friday’s match at Anfield, Klopp said:

Travelling these days is no problem any more. It would be more of a problem if his car was broken and he had to walk from here! That’s pretty comfortable.

Of course, he can miss one session [on Wednesday], that’s what he did. Today he will be in training, everything will be fine again. He’s back and everything will be fine.

The Liverpool boss meanwhile provided updates on Adam Lallana (unspecified), Fabinho (head) and Dejan Lovren (illness), saying:

All a bit questionable, we don’t know exactly at the moment. We will have to see today. Dejan trained yesterday so that’s OK, probably. The others we will have to see.

The man in the away dugout at Anfield on Friday, Jan Siewert, also held his press conference today.

Siewert confirmed that Ben Hamer (knock) and Laurent Depoitre (foot) won’t feature but Adama Diakhaby (hamstring) has had two weeks of training and could come back into contention.

Elsewhere, Richarlison (rib) is a “major doubt” for Everton’s match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Rounding up Everton’s injury situation on Thursday, Marco Silva said:

Lucas [Digne] is OK.

Richarlison we have big doubts about. He has tried yesterday to work with us, he felt it again. Let’s see how he will react tomorrow, today he tried again. He will be a big doubt for us, a major doubt for us.

Let’s see how Theo [Walcott] will be tomorrow because he was sick this morning.

[Yerry] Mina started [training] with the team also, beginning of the week. He is doing well and preparing well himself.

Davy Propper (hamstring) will miss Brighton’s home match against Newcastle United on Saturday but Anthony Knockaert is available after a three-match ban.

Ralph Hasenhuttl had much to clarify in his own pre-match press conference.

The Southampton boss said of his injured contingent:

Jannik [Vestergaard] not [fit], that’s for sure. Ryan Bertrand has got a hit on his ankle and is maybe also a question. Matt Targett is back in team training. Stuey Armstrong has a little problem with his hamstring.

Shane [Long] is fit, I think. He trained today, had a little problem at the end of the game against Watford, so it looks good that he can play at the weekend.

Fulham manager Scott Parker will welcome Tom Cairney (personal reasons) and perhaps Alfie Mawson (knee) back to the first-team fold this weekend.

Parker said on Thursday:

Tom Cairney will come back now that his girlfriend has given birth. There’s a slight doubt over André Schürrle due to his wife having a baby as well, but [Alfie] Mawson is back in contention. He’s been out for some time so it’s pleasing to have him back.

He came in over the summer as a big addition to the squad and has struggled a little bit with injuries but he’s been back now for the last few weeks, played a couple of under-23 games, so we’re looking forward to getting him involved, hopefully at the weekend.

The 14 remaining Premier League managers will hold their press conferences on Friday so we will bring you up to speed on any injury updates in our regular article and video round-up tomorrow.

    Who to play from
    1) Kola - away to Leicester
    2) Valery - home to Bournemouth
    3) Duffy - home to Newcastle

Or as an alternative use FT to do Kola -> Matip

Is Matip secure in any way?!

Taking KDB out for Mane C. Should i also do duffy out for TAA (4pt hit)??

I dont have any other pool coverage but feel duffy may keep a CS? Meaning i would need attacking returns from TAA

    Whats the thoughts

    suggestions here,1ft and 1.2m.

    Foster (WOL) --- Patricio
Duffy (NEW) • Laporte (bur) • Doherty (wat) -- Valery (BOU) Kola (lei)
    Sterling • Son • Eriksen • Pogba • Jwp
Kun • Jimenez --- Gray (WAT)

A: Save FT and find a big couch for the pool game. 2FT's could be useful next gw to bring in rashford, get rid of duffy
B: Eriksen >> Mane...then captain either TC Mane or Kun (c) with Kun/Sterling TC in gw37
    C: Sterling + Kola >> Salah (TC) + 4.5m def (-4)
    D: Kola/Duffy >> TAA..seems a bit sideways as duffy has a good fixture

Tempted with C but any other way to get Salah without loosing sterling?

    With TC in mind:
    A) KDB, Eriksen > Salah, Hendo/JWP/Redmond
    B) KDB, Dunk > Mane, Kelly

    Lloris (Foster)
    Duffy, Alexander-Arnold, Valery (Doherty) (Dunk)
Sterling, Son, Eriksen, Jota (De Bruyne)
    Gray, Agüero, Jiménez

Thanks lads. The RMT tool has Ward Prowse to play with a bench order of:

      Camarasa
      Bednarek
      Doherty.

I've got Doherty as first sub at present given the likelihood of returns at both ends.

    A) Eriksen > Mane
    B) Martial + Doherty > Kelly + Mane (-4)
    C) Aguero > Zaha, Martial > Salah (-4)

Doherty scoring again has made me rethink my plan to do B as the home game against Fulham in 37 is so tempting (plus both my rivals have him and it could be a disaster!)

Really tempted for TAA TC over Mane. Almost all set pieces, lots of good open game crosses and highly potential cs. 0+1+cs from TAA would mean at least 1+1 from Mane.

Consensus seems to be Mané over Salah? I can get either but don’t fancy TC Mané

If that’s how you feel then definitely get Salah - stat wise it’s not so clear

      Why don’t you like mane?

The TC chip is a high volatility chip. For me Mane is a good option because:

      - He has a good home fixture (Huddersfield, a team who don't have a good record of creating a shock result)
      - He is very likely to play substantial minutes (Liverpool need to win to keep their title hopes alive)
      - He plays for a good attacking team (only Man City have a higher aG and xG overall and at home)
      - He has the potential to score (he has scored 8pts or more in 13 PL games this season)
      - He has shown signs of form in recent weeks

Does any of the above guarantee a big return?
No. But it likely pushes the probabilities in your favour based on the most available information.

But all the above is true for Salah. So how do you choose ...

Exactly same goes for Mo. He seems to be getting back in his stride recently and according to me...he’s “due”

I don't think Salah has been in as good form as Mane recently. Salah is a better overall attacker, but when you watch Mane he gets a lot of shots. He misses them, but if he has one of those lucky days then he could haul big time.

Do not mistake the FFS 'Wildcard' bubble whereby a lot of people offloaded Salah.

He is not winning the Captain Poll simply because he is lower-owned on here (Top 10K).

That does not mean he is worse or less-favoured right now, just that less people have him as a result of bolstering benches with that Salah money in GW35.

Would you sell Eriksen & Wilson for a hit ?
This move could give me Bernardo Silva and Firmino for a run in.

The only problem is I'm only 4 ponits behind ML leader and bit reluctant to take hits.

Wow. Good going ! Are you aiming for a certain rank ?

I’d be delighted with top 1k but top 500 has to be the aim,

This week I’ve got Mane TC and no Salah, so it feels huge as if it goes right I could have an outside shot at top 100. If it goes wrong I could be out of the running for top 1k

It’s brutal at this rank though - got 105 last week and literally only went up 80 places.

Yep the higher you go the harder to stay. It gets very tight and every huge scoring team pushes you.

Well don’t panic. Just play your game and hope Salah blanks 🙂

I’m trying to stop myself doing Eriksen & Aguero to Salah and Rashford -4 (would TC Salah). Effectively a -8 as I’d get aguero back next week. It’s madness right?

I was top 100 last season (top 50 this time last season) should have been a bit higher but was a bit timid unlike rest of season.

Was surprised how aggressive the top 1k were with hits with so few games remaining.
Took a last minute Jesus goal to keep me top 100.

                    That's kinda of the point.
Even a few 2 point profits on hits make a difference this stage of the season at the top.
Many looking for any sort of edge.
Last season around top 500 more than a few taking - 8s each week and it was paying off. Eg loading with utd for GW38 vs Cardiff if Cardiff already relegated.

This could a season defining week (mane vs Salah TC). This week is anything but boring, it could make or break ML’s for many.

If you posted this after this GW I’d agree.

If one of mane / Salah blanks and the other gets a hattrick it’s a minimum 36 point swing maybe even 54 if you only own 1. That’s HUGE.
