Scoutcast Episode 293 – For Joe

The Scoutcast returned on Tuesday night to discuss all the key Fantasy Premier League talking points for Gameweek 37.

It was the first produced since we found out the deeply shocking news of Joe’s admission to hospital.

Our Scoutcast host was diagnosed with a bleed on the brain last week, so we thought it best to give the show a short break.

In preparing for this latest episode, Andy, David and Az found that we were being asked more questions about Joe than about the football itself, which we found incredibly touching.

So were able to provide an update on Joe who is obviously directing all his attention towards his recovery:

“Hi, Joe here from my hospital bed.  I understand that there have been lots of kind messages asking after me.  That’s been great to hear and I really appreciate your support, sorry I can’t reply directly at the moment. I am facing a massive challenge and all my energy is focused on getting better (and triple-captaining Aguero against Leicester 😉)”

In terms of Gameweek 37 issues, we started off by looking at the dilemma of Jamie Vardy (£9.0m), who has been in fantastic form but has two tough fixtures to finish off the season.

Then we flipped things round and discussed the points potential of Manchester United players.

They have appealing fixtures against Huddersfield (away) and Cardiff (home) but are not in particularly strong form.

The Scoutcast was then rounded off by considering strategies for either protecting mini-league leads or catching up to them.

Unfortunately, given current circumstances, we will be unable to convert the final two Scoutcasts of the 2018/19 season into podcast form – but they will still be accessible on YouTube and embedded in the article below.

We hope to be able to return to cross-platform posting for the start of the new campaign.

      It’s a double move so it’s a -2 for each in my head.

      Doherty and Eriksen out, could also do Son out for the other mid for a -8 if I’m feeling super ballsy.

      For Hazard as an OR punt. Two routes both using Son

      A Lose VVD and double Liverpool defence I don’t trust in 37/8. Bonus Palace defence which I like

      B Lose Vardy who may return but is unlikely to haul. Double down on gamble and get Wilson

    How to catch a ML leader who is 6 points ahead, has Sterling fraser Vardy (no ManU)?
    My differentials are jota, Salah, Son and Wilson

    RP because bottomed:

    1) Vardy + Eriksen to Haz + Rash/Wilson/Zaha
    2) Vardy + Eriksen + Son to Haz + Pogba + Wilson/Rash/Zaha (-4)
    3) Vardy + Eriksen + Son to Haz + Sterling + Long (-4)

    Leading ML by a narrow margin, second in ML has Haz, Pogba, Wilson and Rash and doesn't make more than a transfer at most. Help

      If you're leading be a narrow marching I wouldn't sell quality players like Vardy, Eriksen & Son for a hit.

          Not really.

          When you look at Aguero, you need to look at his home form in isolation. 5 pts against Spurs and he was hauled early, missed the Cardiff game, 5 pts against Watford, 9 against West Ham and 17 against Chelsea, so he's returned in his last 4 - that isn't inconsistent.

          I admire Nuno and Wolves a lot, but they are too inconsistent for the TC chip. Which Wolves are going to turn up? The one that beat Arsenal, or the one that couldn't score past Brighton. Too much of a gamble IMO.

          Thanks, if you were to sell Eriksen and Firmino, and bring in Sterling, how much would you have for your forward?

              Hmm, I think I prefer the move involving Bernardo and Hazard but if you really want Sterling, maybe Wilson or Mitrovic for the striker spot, or even Calvert-Lewin if you want to take a risk!
