Aubameyang and Lacazette start as Kolasinac benched again

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has gone big up front once again as he starts both of his key strikers for Sunday’s clash with Brighton.

That means both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.8m) and Alexandre Lacazette (£9.4m) are in the starting line-up together for a second match in a row.

In fact, they have been paired from the start in each of the last three in all competitions, including Thursday night’s win over Valencia.

With Brighton’s troubles in front of goal recently, there is also plenty of interest in Arsenal’s defence.

However, Sead Kolasinac‘s (£5.0m) involvement in the Europa League has cost him a place in the Premier League side today.

He drops to the bench for the second time in three domestic matches, with Nacho Monreal (£5.4m) occupying the left-back spot.

After coming off on Thursday night, Laurent Koscielny (£5.4m) is fit enough only for the bench with Sokratis Papastathoupolos (£5.1m) and Shkodran Mustafi (£5.4m) paired at centre-back.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles‘ (£4.4m) suspension means that Stephan Lichtsteiner (£4.5m) gets his first start since Gameweek 27.

Glenn Murray (£6.1m) leads the Brighton line this afternoon, flanked by the returning Alirez Jahanbakhsh (£6.7m) and Solly March (£4.7m).

Arsenal XI: Leno; Lichtsteiner, Mustafi, Sokratis, Monreal; Torreira, Xhaka; Mkhitaryan, Özil; Lacazette, Aubameyang.

Brighton XI: Ryan; Bruno, Duffy, Dunk, Bernardo; Groß, Stephens, Bissouma; Jahanbakhsh, Murray, March.

I deeply regret becoming a fan of this sport, because the people who play it are generally too stupid.

No doubt £35 million was too much but Drinkwater is a better player than given credit for. However he's never going to sparkle if the manager doesn't rate/pick him.

I think the main reason Drinkwater was bought was to help fill the home-grown criteria, but he just doesn't fit anywhere into the Chelsea team, even last season without Sarri and his particular style of football this season

Hazard lost BAPs, more-so. Deductions due to dispossession etc.

Luiz basically nabbed those 3 bonus due to the big chance he created late-on (which Giroud missed).

Time to promote from the youth squad IMO and get them the game time to become experienced. But do not play players out of position (e.g. AMN at RB ./ RWB).

A lot of overseas players are no better than their English counterparts other than they were able to get game time in poor leagues when they were younger.

      1. Deulofail
        • 8 Years

Better than buying guff, for sure. But the idea would be to buy better than guff. There are a few promising youth players, but impossible to know if they can make the leap successfully.

Forgot to say to sell Ozil, but unlikely to find a buyer unless a Chinese club.
