Sign up now for the next Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup

As the curtain sets on another exciting season of domestic league action, we are spoiled here in England by the prospect of guaranteed success in both the Europa League and the Champions League and possibly even international glory in the Nations League.

As if that wasn’t enough (and, for many of us, it won’t be), Fantasy Football Scout is delighted to confirm that the third instalment of its Charity Cup will take place on Sunday 28th July 2019, provisionally during the afternoon at Market Road Football Pitches in Islington, London.

The first two competitions proved extremely popular back in February and November 2018, with around 80 players across nine different teams competing to lift the illustrious FFS Charity Cup and, more importantly, raising around £2,000 for the Melanoma Research Foundation and for Campaign Against Living Miserably.

We’ll be raising money for the Stroke Association this year and donations can be made by clicking here.

For those who aren’t aware, this is real-life football with players of all ages, fitness and abilities very welcome. As with previous tournaments, we’ll be organising players into squads, so you don’t need to round up a team yourself, although feel free to invite guest players to boost the numbers.

The precise format (including squad sizes) will depend on numbers but you can rest assured that everyone will get decent game-time before we head to a local pub to talk everyone through our best goals (or, in my case, penalty misses).

All you need to do is email peter.kouwenberg76@gmail.com as soon as possible to confirm your interest and provide your contact details, at which point you’ll be added to the relevant WhatsApp group, unless you warn me in your email that you would prefer to be kept informed by email or text only instead (outside the group).

    On BBC..
As a Wolves fan, if I had the option of being annihilated in a major cup final, or playing in Europe next season, I know which option I’d have gone for. Thanks Watford!

    He will regret that

Don't get why people don't want to play in Europe. It should be an honour. Playing in the CL doesn't help your league season either but it's bloody brilliant. Teams should be proud to compete in Europe.

The EPL runs a league at a different level to Europe.
Madrid, Barcelona take the lions share of TV revenue in their country as all super leagues They have a cakewalk for 50% of their season and still want to change rules to get more money.
Greed has fully taken over with the mega clubs. Not saying ManU are not greedy but at least they expected to turn up every week and not fiddle game and game times to suit them in Europe.
The Euro big boys have screwed up. I hope lesser clubs in the big 5 will stand up to them.

"Don't want to play in Europe" but maybe I got hold of the wrong end of the stick.
Epl was great this year and each time I see clubs wanting rule changes it irks me.

They are already unstoppable in England - impossible to see them not winning the league again next year. It’s a bit worrying really as if they are beating teams like Watford 6-0 then what hope do the bottom half of the league have. It stops becoming interesting to watch

They’d have won Champions League if they hadn’t tried to use the first leg against spurs as a rest due to the fixture congestion. Maybe they’ll focus less on fa cup next year to prioritise champions league

        This is complete nonsense.
As fantastic as they are, they only won the league by a single point from an equally fantastic Liverpool team. As mentioned Spurs knocked them out UCL.
Football throws up all sorts of unexpected results.
Unstoppable is complete ott and a foolish comment.

Completely disagree - look at expected points - Liverpool won’t get so close to them next year.

Over a 38 game season they are unstoppable - Watford are a top 10 team and were lucky to keep it to single figures

      Lots of ifs & buts

If Mendy/KDB were fit all year, City would have a fair few extra points I'd imagine

      However

Mendy, KDB, Aguero - all have fitness problems & wil be in & out of the team all year you'd imagine... in Aguero's case he's 31 in 2 weeks, so also not a youngster anymore

Kompany & Fernandinho are no spring chickens & also surely can't be relied upon as regular starters

      Is Gundo out of contract?

Zinchenko is not a Man City level left back

Otamendi is a bit of a wild card - not a great defender imo

The possible effects of this UEFA investigation

Doesn't take a huge stretch of the imagination to see this being their last league title either imo

They will strengthen. They will buy a LB, a CB and a DM. This season will only embolden the owners to spend the money and get everything.

A CL ban in 2020/21 doesn't stop them in 2019/20.

They could win the league even without strengthening as their players are of such a high quality. But as I said, it also doesn't take a huge stretch of the imagination to see this being their last league for a few years either

I think their weak link could be not replacing Fernandinho - he is so key to them.

Aguero, Dilva, Kompany getting on a bit.

Injuries to Bilva/Sterling and their squad isn’t really that strong.

Change the scoring or price them better. Forcing players into your team due to formation doesn't make the game better. Pretty sure I don't want to be counting tackles for points, counting saves is enough.

Really hate the penalty save late in a game when the game is lost. You may as well hope your GK plays for a team that concedes lots of penalties if they won't keep many CS.

Could make things very template. Part of the fun is it's possible to play a very lopsided team If you think it will work, hollow out one area to go big in another.

They just need to sort out pricing to reflect returns regardless of position.

    Sterling £14m next season.

The pricing next season is going to be evil.

It’s going to be impossible to have Sterling, Mané/Salah, Trent/Robbo and Laporte and still have a decent team around them.

All I’m saying is that Teemu Pukki better be phenomenally good next season.

Cos we’re gonna need him as a 3rd striker!

Why do you see Sterling being 14.0 when Salah was only 13.0 after getting 70+ more points than him last year?

Because if they priced Salah at £13m last season I would think it’s unlikely that Sterling will be lower than that this coming one.

It would be great if Raz was £11.5 again, but realistically I can’t see that happening.

Prices have to go up surely.

But Salah got 303 points in 17/18... Sterling got 234 this year... that's not even the same postcode for pricing

Have to agree with this. 12m but it's Sterling so could be 12.5 /13.

I'd be suprised if he was more than 12.0 myself, *maybe* 12.5 but probably 11.5... Pep rests him every 6 games also which contributes to his low(er) scores vs. a 250/260/270 point player - will be interesting to see!

I genuinely hope you guys are right.

I just envisage price rises next season that will be specifically designed to stop people having that combination of players in their template.

Based on his points vs the previous season he should be 11.5 again. And Mane.

Every season players go up in price. And almost every time they fail to live up to their new price.

Salah didn't deliver to £13m this season - you would have been better off getting Mane, Hazard, Sterling.

This my attitude to it I am going to look for the New versions of Ashley Young (Watford vintage) - Sterling (early liverpool) - Kane (early spurs) and Vardy when he was 5.5m.
Every year people think the high priced players are the ones to get try to fit them all in. But in reality they loose points per pound value.

This will be something close to my GW1 team fixture, injury, and transfer permitting:

      Henderson
      VVD(or TAA), Digne, Robbo(Or TAA)
      Sterling, Mili, JWP, Brooks
      Pukki, Kun, Vardy
      (4.5, 4.0, 4.5, 4.5)

Should be around the 100.0 mark assuming 20.5 for VVD/Digne/Robbo

haha they have set up Ireland can't win it every year these days.
Have not watched it for years it has kinda turned into a 'gay Olympics' and there are voting blocs which make the whole thing a farce.
Bur sure if people enjoy it fair play to them.

It's gone a bit downhill for me as all the music has become homogenized. It was better when you got to see lots of different styles from different cultures. Late 90's/early 00's I think was a golden period.

Probably not. Though no defender has scored higher so surely they’ve got to reflect that in the price otherwise his ownership at the start will be huge. Trent and VVD too. Trent was ridiculous towards end of season. Gomez is interesting one because of his injury. I expect him to slot into that defence though no way they would price him like the others.

I reckon robbo 7.5, VVD 7, TAA 6.5/7, regardless Joe gomez at 5/5.5 should be best value.

Agree with Robbo and VVD. 7 for TAA and 5.5/6 for Gomez imo for the reasons TM stated

Pool defenders need a juicy price hike for sure.
Will they get 21 clean sheets next season?
They were always in with a chance of bonus and an attacking return was normally worth more.
Can't really price Gomez at a super bargain price enough just in case he becomes nailed.
TAA played similar minutes to Aguero and only scored 16 less.
