Pulisic among the new players priced up by FPL

Tuesday evening saw Fantasy Premier League price up 13 more players, most of whom are new arrivals at their respective clubs.

Christian Pulisic (£7.5m) is perhaps the most noteworthy addition, with the USA international set to join up with his new Chelsea teammates once his country’s CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign is over.

Pulisic becomes Chelsea’s most expensive player in FPL, with all of the Blues’ other assets costing £7.0m or less.

The west London club acquired the young winger in January but loaned him straight back to Borussia Dortmund.

His 2018/19 campaign was disrupted by injury, with only nine of his 20 appearances coming from the start.

Pulisic registered four goals and four assists in 932 minutes of Bundesliga football last season.

The much-hyped American has yet to hit the five-goal mark in a single campaign, however.

Mateo Kovacic, who recorded only two attacking returns in a loan spell with Chelsea last season, is available at £5.5m following his permanent move.

Moussa Djenepo (£5.5m) and Che Adams (£6.0m) have also been added to the game, with Adams costing the same as Danny Ings (£6.0m).

Djenepo’s price is intriguing, despite the caution we urged in our Scout Report on the Mali international: £5.5m being about as low as he could possibly have been listed as given his attacking potential.

We’ll have an article out on Adams in the coming weeks, too, looking at his credentials as an FPL forward.

The former Birmingham City striker scored 22 goals in 46 Championship appearances last season.

Norwich’s summer recruits Josip Drmic and Patrick Roberts are available at £5.5m, while Aston Villa striker Wesley Moraes has been listed at £6.0m.

READ MORE: Our Scout Report on Josip Drmic
READ MORE: Our Scout Report on Wesley Moraes

Three goalkeepers who may very well be back-ups at their respective clubs next season have been added at £4.5m: Emiliano Martinez, Simon Moore and Jed Steer.

Steer played 18 Championship games after Orjan Nyland (£4.5m) and Lovre Kalinic picked up injuries but impressed in the run-in and signed a new contract at the end of the season.

Villa have since been linked with Jack Butland, so Steer may well be playing second fiddle again come Gameweek 1.

Aaron Lennon is available at £5.0m for Burnley, meanwhile.

Finally, there are two new defenders priced up at £5.0m: new Leicester City full-back James Justin and Watford’s latest recruit Craig Dawson.

Centre-back Dawson was a bit of a cult Fantasy favourite at West Brom, twice scoring four goals in a single season and hitting double figures for clean sheets on two occasions, too.

Justin may well provide back-up to the Foxes’ first-choice full-backs at first but is a name to monitor given his attacking reputation.

What nobody is talking about is that White was in an offside position when the original ball was played through.

If I'm offside when a ball is played to a teammate, and then I receive the very next pass, that's not an infraction? I didn't gain an advantage by being offside initially? If you say no, then fine, but it's at least debatable.

No, provided you are not interfering with play.

I just read the laws of the game (Law 11) and Diesel is correct. Even though White was in an offside position on the initial through ball, she was not interfering with play and was subsequently not offside on the pass to her, and therefore did not commit an offense.
Thanks for your contribution to the discussion, Gnu. Genius stuff, really.

No but top sports people have an ability to cope. That wasn't an unwilling 6th person in a shootout, that was the selected person. If the keeper pulls off a great save, deal with it. That was just awful technique. Scuffed in to the ground. Keeper could have nipped home to feed the cats and still got back and saved it.

Of course, half the women playing in the world cup are part-time professionals. The men's game gets multi-million pound training academies for kids from a young age, money for the very best fitness coaches, countless different types of sport science people contributing to the extremely high level of performance. The women's game gets peanuts by comparison, obviously the men's game is going to be of a much higher quality. To change the game, we have to make sport more equal, and then we will see an increase in quality from the women

Pulisic should be 6.0 M tops but it looks like all players are about 0.5M too expensive

American players are going to be huge buyers.

Totally unknown at this level of competition. That’s the same price as Fraser that got 21 FPL returns.

I think they always overprice unknown quantities to a degree, Pulisic obviously comes with a lot of hype and a big reputation, he's a really talented player and by all accounts is a hard worker and a player with his head screwed on right, so I think he'll be a really good player and can kinda understand the price in terms of potential but we won't see it this year in my opinion.

    3. Helia

I think it’s a fair price. Willians price is based off his last season and also with hazard being in the side. Pulisic will start more often than Pedro, unless he does worse than expected.

What has the WC got to do with it? Whichever player(s) the manager decides will play will play, that player could be Tammy.

Giroud is better than Tammy no question

... and what about in the Premier League? Giroud is an inconsistent player, Abraham has potential, neither are perfect and neither are guaranteed to start. You'll have to wait and see who ends up favoured during pre-season.

I'd go VVD and get a keeper - probs Fab. Ryan as set and forget just doesn't convince me at all. You'll comfortably get back any points deficit with saves and probable cs

    4. Piggs Boson

Still depends on a lot of key signings like Everton striker, West Ham striker, Diop etc. Also pre-season to see how teams line up, and hopefully answer the Mendy/Zinchenko problem.

But 442 is looking the most balanced at the moment given the players available. Robertson and TAA have changed the game.

Siggy looking an important player for those fixtures. Him atm.

Last spot keeps changing. It could be El Ghazi, Trossard, Anderson, Fraser, Pogba. Depends what I end up spending on the strikers, and what happens in the market.

    8. pingissimus
      • 5 Years

      5-2-3 to start

Big 6 at the back with added Kane Sterling Vardy/KdB - the mid level mids just don't convince me apart from Siggy.

Once you roll a week it's a surprisingly flexible system which can be 4-4-2 or 5-3-2. I can get almost anywhere rolling week 1 and taking hit in 3 if necessary.

The idea is to stay true at the back and think midterm value there and mix up my front 5. The back 6 will have City Pool Spurs Chelsea Everton I think so not gambling on double ups too much

      Perez could easily play wide.

Leicester's weak spot has been the inside forward all of last season. Barnes and Gray had horrible conversion rates, and still too young imo. Perez could be great there.

Good price point though. That's how I am basing my team at the minute. Can upgrade to firmino/lacazette or downgrade to rashford/Wilson in season and he is a bit fixture proof . You can't lose goals scored points but you can lose clean sheet points
