Pulisic among the new players priced up by FPL

Tuesday evening saw Fantasy Premier League price up 13 more players, most of whom are new arrivals at their respective clubs.

Christian Pulisic (£7.5m) is perhaps the most noteworthy addition, with the USA international set to join up with his new Chelsea teammates once his country’s CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign is over.

Pulisic becomes Chelsea’s most expensive player in FPL, with all of the Blues’ other assets costing £7.0m or less.

The west London club acquired the young winger in January but loaned him straight back to Borussia Dortmund.

His 2018/19 campaign was disrupted by injury, with only nine of his 20 appearances coming from the start.

Pulisic registered four goals and four assists in 932 minutes of Bundesliga football last season.

The much-hyped American has yet to hit the five-goal mark in a single campaign, however.

Mateo Kovacic, who recorded only two attacking returns in a loan spell with Chelsea last season, is available at £5.5m following his permanent move.

Moussa Djenepo (£5.5m) and Che Adams (£6.0m) have also been added to the game, with Adams costing the same as Danny Ings (£6.0m).

Djenepo’s price is intriguing, despite the caution we urged in our Scout Report on the Mali international: £5.5m being about as low as he could possibly have been listed as given his attacking potential.

We’ll have an article out on Adams in the coming weeks, too, looking at his credentials as an FPL forward.

The former Birmingham City striker scored 22 goals in 46 Championship appearances last season.

Norwich’s summer recruits Josip Drmic and Patrick Roberts are available at £5.5m, while Aston Villa striker Wesley Moraes has been listed at £6.0m.

READ MORE: Our Scout Report on Josip Drmic
READ MORE: Our Scout Report on Wesley Moraes

Three goalkeepers who may very well be back-ups at their respective clubs next season have been added at £4.5m: Emiliano Martinez, Simon Moore and Jed Steer.

Steer played 18 Championship games after Orjan Nyland (£4.5m) and Lovre Kalinic picked up injuries but impressed in the run-in and signed a new contract at the end of the season.

Villa have since been linked with Jack Butland, so Steer may well be playing second fiddle again come Gameweek 1.

Aaron Lennon is available at £5.0m for Burnley, meanwhile.

Finally, there are two new defenders priced up at £5.0m: new Leicester City full-back James Justin and Watford’s latest recruit Craig Dawson.

Centre-back Dawson was a bit of a cult Fantasy favourite at West Brom, twice scoring four goals in a single season and hitting double figures for clean sheets on two occasions, too.

Justin may well provide back-up to the Foxes’ first-choice full-backs at first but is a name to monitor given his attacking reputation.

What are people's thoughts on 5 at the back??

    Could get you something like:

    Pickford
    Robertson, VVD, Laporte, Mendy, Digne
    Salah, Sterling, Zaha/Milo
    King, Jota

    Button, Dendoncker, 4.5

      Have something similar

Mendy nailed might tempt me to double City at the back but prefer KdB and Sterling combo instead. I'm trying to limit doubles at the back.

My third premium up front is Kane and not Mo - that may not be what you like - gets me to 5-2-3 but thats really just a trick of Mo and Sterling being oop

I was looking at 5 at back but felt didn't like the bench.
Went 4-4-2 and now have a solid 4.5 Def on bench.

Everyone talking about the shocking penalty but no one talking about Neville.

Horrible tactics in the first half. England was much better in the 433.

Also why didn’t White or even Parris take the pen. I know Parris missed in the game before but at least it was a decent penalty.

Rodgers played Maddison as more of a No.8 last season. Definitely won't be him losing out. Depends on formation really - there's potential for a great 3-5-2 from Leicester if Tielemans joins. My guess is that Perez won't be automatic first choice

    C) Walker, 4.5 def, KDB

Currently on A, but would love to squeeze in KDB somehow. Not sure if it makes sense if the cost is sacrificing all Everton coverage with those lovely fixtures, however. Have Sterling too, FWIW.

Wan Bissaka has already risen to 34.1%. Manchester United players are super volatile in the market. A strong performance or two and their prices will rocket.

Heaton & Pope have both had excellent seasons in the past & Burnley's tactics encourage savable shots. The first half of lasts season took a bit hit from the Europa League but 2nd half they were top 6 form.

Hart will be gone so it's Heaton (who has yet to sign a new deal) v Pope.

Seen a few wondering about the big at the back policy. My two cents is that the landscape and context of each season is different.

I started with a big back line several years ago with Bosingwa at 5.5 and Baines at 8 and made one of my best starts to a season. I think its a great to garner points until the dust settles and the midpark options emerge.

I think the hardest thing for most people this season will be seeing premium Mids and Forwards get one or two big hauls and resist the urge not to cash in on Premium defenders despite them being better and more consistent in the long run.

I can't help feeling that those with their daily tinkering of their teams are also lessening their chances of success in FPL. Too much overthinking when normally your original decisions were the correct ones.
Auto pick your team, leave it and watch the tennis, crick and golf.

Read the article with last season's winner about his approach to the game in pre-season. He was very relaxed about it all.

    What do you reckon?

    A) Sigurdsson + Digne

    Or

    B) Smith + KDB

    1. Steiger

Rashford could be a superb differential and an early bandwagon.

Rashford could be a catastrophic disaster and an early funds loser.

Will Ederson be worth 1.5 over Henderson/Heaton? Really tricky question. Long term City cover whereas Laporte is that .5 extra.

Charlie Taylor is 4.5 and Sheff Utd have attacking centre backs and a wing back at 4.5 (Baldock).

I'm sitting with Ederson in team at moment. Thinking if need funds in a hurry can swap him down when know which cheap options are looking most promising.

    A) Coleman & Greenwood (Benched) 5-3-2
    B) Gibson (Benched) & Che Adams 4-3-3

Coleman I think early doors. Even if the lad proves useless, he only needs a clean sheet or two and he'll have paid off his inclusion. More than doable with Gueye/Schneider/Zouma and them early fix.

As a rule I never punt on players new to the league on GW1 so I'd go for A as Coleman is a known quantity plus fixtures.

    Ryan (Button)
Digne - TAA - VVD (Kelly - Stearman)
Zaha - Sigurdsson - Salah - Sterling (Dendoncker)
    Wilson - King (Greenwood)

Where would you spend the last 1.0?

Upgrade Ryan to Pickford? More CS potential with Pickford and he is arguably a better penalty saver too

I've been thinking about Pickford, but I'm not sure about going with double Everton def. Digne has attacking potential at least.

That's a possibility. Wondering if it's better focusing on upgrading one of Kelly, Stearman or Ryan; but this will surely only be one of many drafts – several of which will feature Vardy for sure.

Take 3. Decided to go for strength in depth. Rotation pairings. Potential OOP’s with future transfers in mind.

    Here goes.......

    Lloris

TAA // Digne // Dawson (Watford)

    Salah // Bilva // Siggy // A. Perez (Leicester)

    Vardy // King // Deulofeu

    Leno // Djenepo // Christensen // Kelly

Please rate, comment and destroy where necessary. I am however very happy with this!

      Jorginho.

Maybe so but if Frank has any since and he probably does he should restore Kante to his rightful place in front of the back 4 and that would mean that Jorginho may miss out.
