FPL position change and Leicester move boost Perez’s appeal

Ayoze Perez has completed a £30m move to Leicester City, leaving Newcastle United after five years in the north-east.

Perez was one of a handful of Fantasy Premier League assets who saw his position change upon the game’s relaunch this summer.

An FPL forward in his first four seasons in the top flight, Perez was reclassified as a midfielder in June after playing more than half of his games in 2018/19 in more of a supporting role behind Salomon Rondon.

Had his Fantasy position been altered 12 months earlier, the extra points he would have accumulated for goals/clean sheets would have put him in the top ten highest-scoring FPL midfielders of 2018/19.

Available for £6.5m this season, Perez would have been an intriguing prospect even if had stayed on Tyneside – but a move to a Leicester side that has developed an attacking swagger under new boss Brendan Rodgers will provoke even more interest in the Fantasy community.

Members can read on for our study of Perez’s Fantasy credentials.

Boy Goalie is hard this year as the 4.5 choices are weak. People going with Ryan alone feel good about that??? Besides the fact that Bournes are leaky, are reason that Begovic isn't getting more attention? Good early fixtures to figure out if another option emerges. I'm currently on Begovic/Krul pairing and not seeing many others. Any thoughts?

Their defense last season was atrocious. I think dishing out the extra cash for Pickford/Lloris will pay dividends.

I also like the WHAM/Burnley pairing, but doing that with my 4th and 5th defenders as Fabs is an extra 0.5 and cheaper to do that rotation in defense?

Godawful bench but bar that how's it looking gurus? 3 Bournemouth for first 2.

    Salah - Siggy - Brooks - KdB

Kun is one of the most explosive and consistent players ever in the game while fit. There no reason to doubt him at the start of the season. Kane has been patchy for a while.

I'm favoring Kane over Aguero, can see Jesus getting a lot more game time this season and that extra 1m could help with that bench.

There is always a possibility with a new manager and with the transfer window open. We should get hints of the pecking order for PK's in the preseason.

He's the only one in the team who's been a designated taker before, and he's got a solid record at 11-1. There shouldn't really be any questions around it.

He's in both my drafts so I hope so lol, obviously I'll take him out if he's not. He looked really good the few times I saw him last season, has competition in Martial who Ole lost patience with at the end of last season and Sanchez who is the worst signing in the history of football.

At least Di Maria was good for a few games and we got a fee for selling. Apart from how awful Sanchez has been, it's the effect his wages have had on the rest of our contract negotiations that's the worst part.

Something to think about - if Kane should revert to his "normal" score of 210+ points a season, he will actually be better value at 0.68 PPG/mill than any of the midfielders that played previous season, even without captaincy counted. Highest midfielder is Zaha at 0.67 PPG/mill. Sterling is 0.57 PPG/mill and Salah is 0.54 PPG/mill.

Problem is no one knows if he reverts, not much suggesting it.
I'm going Sterling because even when Kane scored 29 and assisted 7 Raheem has outscored that in the last two seasons in terms of fpl points

Sterlign will probably score more this season also. But point still stands, that Kane will compare favourably with all midfielders if he gets back in the 200+ club, even without captaining.

Not too difficult to make a decent team with the three big hittes either:

      Pope(Heaton?) 4.0
      Robertson VVD Digne 4.5 4.0

Finally found a use for FPL draft

I keep getting tempted into a big 6 at the back as a mid long term set and forget. I know though I’ll get pushed into losing it by wanting to make aggressive moves. Solution - get a draft bug back 6 and see hiow that runs.

Zinchenko is an absolute cert imo, McArthur played more than 3000 minutes, so is nailed, and Firmino is confirmed away, so may not be fit in time. Origi is in contract negotiations, so they will want to tempt him. Perfect opportunity. 🙂

How did he do last season? There's definitely gonna be a spot for the taking next to whichever CB we end up buying.

He stepped up a level last season and formed a really strong CB partnership with Mings. Solid pacey CB....

Worth starting two 4.5s every week if it means you can afford the following:

    Ederson
    Robbo
    TAA
    Digne
    Coleman
    Salah
    Sterling
    Kane
    King

I think i would prefer sterling and salah or sterling and mane. Better rotation for captaincy and allows an extra pool defender

Any thoughts on my current team. Looking at other peoples I'm starting to feel a little light at the back.

    Alison | Button
TAA | Digne | Adam Smith | Cathcart | Dunk
Salah | De Bruyne | Sigurdsson | Zaha | Doucouré
    Vardy | King | Long

    Any recommendations for 5/5.5m def?

    Thanks!

Coleman, Maguire, Davies ?, Rose, Trippier, and Chillwell.

Spurs wingbacks' could be a guessing game.

Im not sure about kdb from the off. Maybe downgrade him and use the money to improve a defender

Do we think Walker is better than any 5.5 defender in the game?

Struggling to find any 5.5 I like other than Coleman.

If Maguire goes to City he'll be in every team.

Trippier and Gomez also ones to monitor in preseason.

I think there are better £6m defenders then Walker.

Interestingly whilst his overall record does not seem hugely prolific at first glance (50 attacking returns in 140 premier league games)...

His recent record has been pretty solid (17 attacking returns in his last 26 premier league games)

Needs a kind price, but could be a very useful FPL asset if he maintains recent form and doesn’t come in too expensive

Hmm, never rated so never had him - which was a mistake last season. He'd be better than DCL, but I suspect he'd cost 7m plus, and I don't think I'd give him priority over King, Jota and Deulofeu.

    De Gea
    W-B, Lindelöf, Bailly, Shaw
    McTominay, Fred
    Lingard, Pogba, Martial
    Rashford

Is this the best Utd XI? Perhaps with Matic instead of one of the other pivots.

Smalling is ahead of Bailly, but expect a new centre back.

Lingard, Martial, Rashford is backed up by Mata, Sanchez, James, and Lukaku, so the squad depth isn't bad to be fair.

The funny thing about United is we dismiss those names are awful players, but Sanchez has been tearing up the Copa America this summer, Lukaku has a pretty decent record at United and Belgium, Rashford is regularly one of Englands best players.

That's what I'm saying, people in general look at names like Rashford and Lukaku and comment how terrible they are, the reality is they are good enough for most of the top sides in Europe.

I prefer two forwards with Rashord and either James/Martial/Sanchez and then have Mata (with his creativity and work rate) right under with a diamond shaped midfield.

More tinkering but think I'm more or less set before looking at pre-season games
    Zaha can become Perez
Wesley can become fodder and switch to 4-4-2

    Ederson (Button)
    Robertson Digne Ake (Targett, Kelly)
    Salah B.Silva Siggy Zaha (Dendoncker)
    Kane King Wesley

    TAA Robertson Digne xxx
    Salah xxx Zaha James
    Vardy King

    Which do you prefer?

    B) Ederson, Laporte, KdB

Where exactly does Ayoze Perez fit in at Leicester.
His best position is playing as a second striker.
If Leicester line up 442 (below) then Perez will be gold.

    Vardy Perez
    Maddison Tielemans Ndidi Barnes

However this would hinder the appeal of Maddison (playing wide) and Tielemans (playing deeper).

They could line up 4231 but he would be competing with Maddison, Barnes, Gray, Albrighton and Ghezzal for an attacking midfield role. Or if they lineup 4141 he would be playing wide or deeper again with lots of competition.

Due to this I believe Vardy is the only viable Leicester option from the off.

As I wrote minutes ago, Brendan was tinkering to find his best formation at the tail end of last season. No doubt he'll use pre-season to continue the process to find how Perez best fits. At this moment in time we simply can't say - we need to monitor pre-season closely.
