How does Tielemans affect and compare to Leicester’s other FPL assets?

Leicester City’s permanent capture of Youri Tielemans (£6.5m) adds to the Foxes’ attractive options in Fantasy Premier League next season.

The Belgian midfielder, signed for a reported £40m from Monaco, impressed in a brief loan spell towards the end of 2018/19 and was a successful differential pick for those FPL bosses who backed him.

The central midfielder scored three goals and registered a further five assists in just 13 starts, averaging 4.8 FPL points per game – more than any of Leicester’s other Fantasy assets apart from Jamie Vardy (£9.0m).

You can read more about Tielemans’ history in our Scout Report.

The Foxes’ opening eight fixtures are a mixed bag, with Brendan Rodgers’ side facing five of last season’s top seven in the first two months of the campaign.

There are also matches against Sheffield United, Bournemouth and Newcastle United in that time, however.

For those wishing to back a Leicester asset from the off, there is a bit of a selection headache.

Ayoze Perez‘s (£6.5m) case for inclusion was heard in a Members’ article last week but in Tielemans and James Maddison (£7.0m) we also have two FPL midfielders who provided us with decent value for money in 2018/19.

In Vardy, we also have a premium forward who scored more goals than any other Premier League player in the final ten Gameweeks of last season.

This latest article will scrutinise the numbers behind Tielemans’ appearances for Leicester so far.

I am spending 6.5 on my 3rd mid and I am bringing in Tiele. Shame he plays a bit deep but should share some set pieces with Maddison.

I see Idrissa Gueye scored for Senegal today as Senegal progressed to the SFs of AFCON.

Gueye not being available for Everton in GW1 / GW2 due to an extended break after participating in AFCON would not be good for Everton defensive assets IMO.

But FPL isn't a marathon, it's a series of sprints. It's about getting the right players in at the right time not picking them from the beginning and holding all season.

Any 2of hem will do you proud

But I have a slight hesitation on VVD, so prefer the fullbacks

It was only as recently as December that VVD was generally ridiculed on FFS for “not getting attacking returns” (prior to the Derby in December he had 1 attacking returns in 2.5 seasons of FPL at that point)

He’s a fantastic and wonderful player, both IRL and for FPL... but I could perhaps see him going on a blank spell of attacking returns easier than I could see TAA or Robbo doing the same

(VVD brace in GW1 locked now lol)

He scored 6 in nearly half as many minutes as he scored last, and assisted at a similar rate in 17/18. Albeit expected assists data better from last year but that's not really a reason to exclude him. One would expect him to score 8+ this season, its much more likely to be kdb assisting him at rw where he finished the season than vice versa. (I don't have him currently btw)

Both times Liverpool and City play each other this season, Kane plays Sheffield Utd. Can see a few 1 week okey-cokeys for captaincy these game weeks

Blades could prove the tightest of the 3 promoted sides, and then some. I do hope the Anfield game is open though, some good football.

I believe in the Blades, they let in the fewest number of goals in the Champ. for a reason.

Not mandatory but advised. More important to have two Pool defenders in my opinion.

No, not if you’re spending more money in attack. If you’re having 3 or more premiums at the back it makes sense to have at least 1 from City.

5 premium at the moment- Laporte in. Could remove him for a 7 mil mid. Doesn't look right though. Shame about Fraser priced at 7,5.

Except that before GW 34 few wanted him last time - he was a very marginal WC pick. Strange how 5 games shift the thinking process.

Much the same in my opinion. They'll win a lot of games and lose a lot of games. No serious relegation threat with the likes of Norwich, Sheffield United, villa, Brighton and Burnley there.

I'm hoping this will be the year for Stones - hopefully become nailed in the centre of defense (and inherit captaincy from Kompany).
Waiting for pre-season (and the Maguire situation) to resolve - at 5.5m for City defense, I so want to be right

doubt rodgers changes shape to accommodate him behind vardy as madds already does a good job there, wide players are less nailed so he could easily play there given he played WB for newcastle at times last year
