Premier League pre-season friendlies: a day-by-day fixture guide

Pre-season is well underway and over half of the teams in the Premier League have already been in action over the last week.

Our ‘Pre-Season’ tab provides a comprehensive team-by-team guide to all 20 clubs, detailing the dates of their fixtures as well as the minutes played, goalscorers and assist-makers in each of the games.

For who those who prefer a chronological calendar of this summer’s friendlies, we have put together a date-by-date version in the article below.

Some teams are scheduled to be in action twice on the same day, so any ‘fixture clash’ you may spot is not (necessarily) a mistake.

We’ll have more Scout Notes for you over the coming days and beyond as we bring to light any stand-out team selections, injury updates and talking points from the various pre-season games.

Our pre-season minutes spreadsheet has been updated in the meantime:

Those with Ryan and/Button - are you reconsidering now Dunk will be leaving? Back line may be destabilised which may mean more goals against

    Salah Fraser Richarlison B.Silva

Don't know about Siggy for sure over Rich.
If the last 2 season thought us anything it is that Rich can be off to a flyer then a bit too much turkey and carbs over the crimbo and then he is baked.

    Thoughts on this?

    Ryan
    TAA Robbo Digne
    Salah Sterling Maddison F.Anderson Pereyra
    King Sharp
    Button Pukki Kelly Rico

Would be looking to rotate Sharp/Pukki

Worried about not having an "expensive" striker though..

Not sold by King. Don't like frontline. I have just changed Ryan as Dunk will be leaving and I am concerned about the backline being destabilised.

Good point about Dunk. I've been looking to escape being another Ryan/Button lemming, and Dunk leaving helps the case.

Nah, most on this site will realize they didn't get it right and parachute out with an early transfer. A wise/lucky few will get it more-or-less right and be able to delay the transfer to a date of their choice. Just a precious few will linger in the phantom zone, where it's a close call whether to pull the ripcord. And they will mostly be talented FPL managers, to get that close--they don't deserve to linger near death, but there it is.

(Hmm, these terms--there's no chance we're taking this too seriously, is there?)

Yes, but one thing always stays the same. Pick the players YOU want in your team and who YOU think will score the most.

You can only pick and play whats in front of you. No one has any idea what will happen.

I'm happy with my team at the moment. Will it change. Probably. You can ask and ask on here and every day you will get a different answer. Sooner or later you need to make up your own mind and I doubt anyone will say something that would convince you otherwise.

Go for Vardy. I sense it's him you want.

Yep, it’s entirely possible. As could many players... And Sterling does it with much more regularity in fairness...

I just can’t shake the memories of Kane lumbering around the pitch in full on carthorse mode in the CL final, and the way you have to wince every time he gets tackled for fear of his ankles snapping again

He could do very well - but not for me Clive

Back 5’s are extremely unpopular (less than 10% of the poll)

But after 11 seasons of 3-4-3’s, 4-4-2’s, and 3-5-2’s I can safely say we’ve never had this depth of elite defenders combined with such an underwhelming lineup of midprice attackers - for me, the time has finally come for 5ATB 🙂

Although Gueye leaving would throw a bit of a spanner in there - but the window closes in 24 days & he’s still there so all systems go as things stand

Then don't say it kills the budget. It just makes it unable to get who you want. I have sacrificed Vardy and Siggy and still can buy Vvd, Digne and Laporte or Ederson. So it really doesn't ''kill'' the budget.

Strongly considering a GW1 Bench Boost. My feeling is that 15-25 points to start the season is more valuable than later on because a good strong start really helps stay ahead of the curve, put pressure on ML rivals, gives you some freedom to make attacking transfers etc. There's a lot to be said for not falling behind early on, and going an early BB could be great. I'd probably be going triple Spurs and triple Bournemouth alongside triple Liverpool. Early Wildcard fixes any issues, and I basically always play it early even when I plan not to.

Anyone try it last season and regret it later?

    1. nisag17
      • 14 Years

I managed to use my bench boost very well towards the latter part of last season in a dgw. Got atleast one clean sheet from all my gks and defs along with the extra starting points as well. All 15 players played as well which is easier to determine later on.

You don't stay ahead of the curve just by scoring points. The reason it's important to get a good start is that it shows you have a good team and don't need to spend transfers or risk wildcarding early. It also helps with YV.

25 points early on is worth exactly the same as at the end. There are plenty of reasons for a GW1 BB but this isn't it.

I don't entirely agree with that. I know (because some have told me) that many rivals do get frustrated by trailing in a ML and they blame some of their poor decisions on trying to catch up rather than just playing their natural game. There is a lot to be said for getting off to a great start in FPL, even if it is somewhat manufactured by playing a chip.

Yes, 25 points is worth the same no matter when you earn them, but let me put it this way - if I knew for sure that my BB points would be the same in GW1 as they would be in GW35 (or whenever), I would definitely play in GW1. Everything is easier when you're ahead. The only reason I wouldn't do it is if I thought I might lose out on a significant amount of points.

I’m going for it. Quite a few are on here.

I’ve never had much luck nailing my bench boost in a DGW and I’m sure I was losing a lot of points in the weeks leading up to the DGW as the players I was buying were being outperformed by the non DGW players.

Going to try something different for a change.

Thanks for the input. Funnily enough last season I did actually smash the BB in the late DGW (34 points), but for some reason I still feel like trying something different this season. There's definitely an element of making suboptimal decisions towards the end of the season because you want to get the most out of the BB chip, when if you didn't have it you would just focus on the strongest possible starting 11 for the upcoming fixtures plus a cheap bench.

    Or

    Ederson
    PVA TAA Robertson Laporte

      Prefer the first option.

You can make some nice 451 teams but the problem is, if your striker becomes a doubt then you have to either risk going with 10 players or transfer them. Last minute benchings would leave you down to 10 too

      I like A actually.

Bit of doubt over Wolves with Europe so going with the cheaper of those could be better.

Jota was matching Jiminez towards the end of last season too (albeit as a midfielder).

I'm on King at the moment, bit I think Wilson will outscore him. Only reason I'm not on Wilson is I don't like the downgrades I have to make elsewhere to get him
