How Scout Membership can help Fantasy managers in 2019/20

Full-season Fantasy Football Scout subscriptions are still available for £17.50 – that’s the equivalent of less than 39p a week.

Over the years we have added to the benefits that our Members enjoy and we will be re-investing back into the site to enhance it further in 2019/20.

The most recent addition was the new Flat-Track Bully tool, which allows Members to conduct research in greater detail.

Using this new feature (pictured below) you can exclude/include certain teams (i.e. the ‘big six’) when scrolling through the various tabs in our Player Stats section.

This will help you identify players who perhaps perform better against weaker opposition and even those who thrive against the top teams like Raúl Jiménez did in 2018/19.

We also recently put a call out for web developers and we have a number of other site improvements in the pipeline that will hopefully help our subscribers even more.

If you’re new to the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout membership, you can get full details, along with a series of movies previewing the content, via this page.

In 2018/19 we published more Members’ articles than ever before and there will be at least 150 such pieces in the 2019/20 campaign.

We also introduced Members-only comments and Hot Topics to allow for detailed discussions of content behind the pay-wall.

Our Projections and Rate My Team tools (below) have both been tweaked, with RMT’s Professor – aka Chris Atkinson – elaborating on the changes in a recent Hot Topic.

Reigning Fantasy Premier League champion Adam Levy is a paid-up Member of our site and he discussed what tools of ours he finds most useful in a recent interview.

In previous seasons we’ve helped FPL winners Tom Fenley and Simon March, while in 2015/16 we were thrilled to see Ed Masters – the winner of that year’s Members’ League – finish third in the overall rankings.

In 2017/18, Paul Gee went one better. He won our Members’ League and finished second, losing out to champion Yusuf Sheikh by just eight points.

We are hugely grateful to those who show their support by signing up as a Member each season. This continues to enable us to maintain the site, grow the Fantasy Football Scout team and develop more ideas.

Here are just some of the features you can enjoy as a subscriber:

Head-to-Head Comparisons

Compare both teams and players head to head.

Match Analysis

Analysis of every Premier League match (going back to 2011/12!), together with charts which plot average positions and our collection of heatmaps for touches, shots, chances created among other statistics.

Custom Stats Tables

Members can also create custom tables based on the data and share them with other subscribers (an example from last season is shown above).

Perhaps the most famous of these is Joe’s Goals Imminent table, which looks to predict which underperforming assets will find the net next.

Customisable Season Ticker

Sort by fixture difficulty and find out which teams’ matches rotate well using our customisable Season Ticker.

Be sure to check out all the other benefits of signing up as a member here. A full FAQ on our Members’ Area is also available here.

Bilva is an incredible player - But he’s not an incredible FPL player

Not saying it’s definitely going to happen again - but City generated 25 attacking returns in their first 5 games last season for example...Bilva played in all 5, starting 4 & coming on in 1

He got 1 of those 25 returns

Superb player IRL... but a bit of a frustration in FPL - could do well of course, but not for me

Owners will likely need PATIENCE to get the best out of him -if you’re prepared to hold for long barren periods you should eventually get the 160-ish points out of him

Just like a puppy is for life, not just for Christmas, a Bilva is for the season, not just GW1-5

You’ve quoted this stay about 25 attacking returns at least 100 times.. he was playing as a wing-back early season.

Bilva had some amazing returns in champions league/FA Cup but underperformed in the league. He is a great option at 8.0 million for the most nailed on City attacker, but I still prefer Siggy

yeah I had him for that spell and I don't think he played RW once, which is now a possibility

And I’ll quote it again the next time someone asks what I think about Bilva 🙂

Bilva... I just don’t see it in him personally, Dilva bettered him for chances created and also isn’t really an effective FPL player, Sterling & Kun are the two that better him for shots...

I just think his Man City shirt attracts a lot of coverage picks, and when you scratch a little deeper there’s always more points for less/similar budget elsewhere, and without restricting a Man City slot

He’s a fantastic player IRL, but I’m not sure he’ll ever really be a great FPL player.... many seem to think he will though so it will be interesting to see.

pretty much agree, but some decent looking defender/forward options this year too - helped by Deulo+Jota's position change, Kane's price and Vardy/Jimenez/Wilson actually being good

      Not really what I’ve found.

The value is in mids around the £7m starting mark. Now, if you have Salah and Sterling plus 3 premium defenders (and if you play 3 defenders then you definitely want 3 premium defenders) you can’t really afford 3 more 7+ mids on top of that.

To me anyway, 4-4-2 looks the most budget friendly way of getting the best players you can in terms of PPM.

Can a Spurs fan tell me why Sissoko always thinks he's better than he is? I've seen him countless times trying to shoot, dribble or do things by himself and fail, while what he should do is just try the normal pass.

I'm watching Spurs vs Juve live right now and how team mates must be super frustrated playing with him.

    Some interesting stats on Siggy

    - 23 blanks in 38 appearances last season
    - Missed 4 of last 7 penalties
    - Zero Goals & Zero Assists in last season's equivalent of his opening 5 fixtures (no villa obvs):

    cpl 0G 0A
    WAT 0G 0A
    WOL 0G 0A
    bou 0G 0A

But he's not popular for no reason - and he could do very well - but patience may be a virtue

I forgot to add his price rise 🙂

38 games worth of appearances points do an end of season score no harm at all 😉

In fairness if he hadn’t missed 3 pens it would look better, but his penalty taking has to be a concern now 4 missed out of 7 is starting to stick out like a sore thumb

He’s missed 3 of his last 5 for Everton and 1 of his last 2 for Iceland - missing 4 of his last 7 altogether

It’ll be very interesting to see his body language the next time he steps up to spot

Why is Siggy the only player you use this 'amount of blanks' stat against? If you compare to other mid price options you will find the same argument applies to all of them

      1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
        • 14 Years
        4 years, 9 months ago

It’s not always quick & easy to find out these stats & I don’t have the desire to do it for every player in the league

When I do my research on players I sometimes share with the community, and it sometimes creates a bit of dissonance & ruffles a few feathers 🙂

        But that’s FPL 🙂

        1. Brosstan
          • 9 Years
          4 years, 9 months ago

It's just misleading though, when it's presented as if he is especially prone to blank.

          1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
            • 14 Years
            4 years, 9 months ago

I don’t think the amount of blanks he had in a season can be any more or any less misleading than the number of points he scored in the season, the number of goals he scored, the number of penalties he missed...

These are all characteristics of the player’s performance

Sometimes it’s good to look at things from a different perspective 🙂

19 attacking returns, 20 bonus points last season for a proven asset at 8.0 with pedigree. I’ll take that every day of the week

      1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
        • 14 Years
        4 years, 9 months ago

Yep, and as he said above, there’s no doubt he could do well - but owners should just be selecting him with eyes wide open - he was outscored by both his fullbacks in 2019 year to date for example

He can be tricky FPL player & the price rise gives him slightly less breathing room on people’s teamsheets for the barren runs

Young master Siggy is the type of player who will brace in a tough game when you least expect it and then miss a pen and return negative points in a home banker where you’d expect him to haul - which is why patience may be a virtue

No fair comment he hasn’t been a constant in my drafts just seems like an Everton attacker is a must with the fixtures. Obviously siggy an alternative, who would you have instead?

Fraser is a suggestion? Moura for a gameweek?
Siggy is an option as you said, monitor Zaha if he leave s palace

This season is all about expensive defenders (they will bring a lot of points), and midfilders (Salah and Sterling).
But look at Kane and Rashford prices...Auba can explode this season. Kun can be even better then Sterling.....this may be the hardest season so far.

Went close 3 times before then. Probably should have scored 1 or 2 of them, but at least he gets the chances.

    Ryan
    Digne, VVD, Robertson, Targett
    Moura, Sterling, Salah, Rich, Perez
    Wilson

    Button, Gibson, Greenwood, Nkeitah

Happy with this if there's a nailed 4.0 defender.

Rumours Nketiah might join QPR on loan for the season.

I’m really hoping this is true. He could do some major damage in the Championship!

Can I ride out a lack of City attack with the below?

    Pope
    TAA VVD Digne Zinchenko
    Salah Siggy Fraser Perez
    Kane Wilson

Or could get KDB and King for Siggy and Wilson.

No you can’t, but you can’t have everyone, so at some point you have to sacrifice one big hitter to get another.

Anyone looking at Brighton attackers for a 2nd/3rd slot? - inexpensive, good early fixtures and a more attack minded manager

      Got my eye on Trossard.

Should be practically OOP on the left wing. Terrific finisher.

This. I keep mentioning Trossard, I’ve read there’s a chance he gets PK’s when Murray isn’t on the pitch.

I have Trossard as my 4th mid at the moment in a 3-4-3, with a view to switching to yarmolenko if he hits form and Trossard doesn’t.

Can i get you take on this team? Ive gone with 3 weekly captain choices and tried to balance it out 1 premium Def 2 premium mids and 1 premium Striker.

    Ryan
    Alexander A.Smith Coleman Monrael
    Salah Tieleman Siggy Sterling
    King Kane

    Woodman Dendonker Kelly Greenwood

Do you need 3 captain choices? I've had a team with those 3 big hitters and it just feels wrong. I'd take sterling down to KDB and improve the defence.

Salah and Sterling rotate captaincy until the teams face one another iirc.
