Pre-Season

Additional Chelsea players handed FPL prices

A whole host of Chelsea players have been added to the Fantasy Premier League price list.

Strikers Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi have both been involved heavily in the Blues’ pre-season campaign and Fantasy managers have been eagerly anticipating their price reveals.

With Olivier Giroud at £7.0m, the price makers at FPL towers have ensured there is no way of comparing Chelsea forwards on cost by bringing both Abraham and Batshuayi in at £7.0m as well.

It is still unclear which of the three centre-forwards is the standout forward for Chelsea thus far so Fantasy managers should keep tracking their minutes on the Pre-season Page.

Meanwhile, FPL have also announced three more Chelsea players in Mason Mount (£6.0m), Kenedy (£5.5m) and Kurt Zouma (£5.0m).

The future of the latter remains up in the air with Everton hoping to bring him back to Goodison Park after an impressive spell in 2018/19.

We recently published a Members’ article on Zouma’s importance to the Toffees which you can READ HERE.

Whether the £5.0m proves a price worth paying may depend on which he club he ends up comitting too.

If he returns to Everton then he will be much more assured of a start than he would be at Stamford Bridge.

Other additions include Aston Villa right-back Frederic Guilbert (£4.5m) and Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster (£4.5m).

    Final RMT:

    Pope/Heaton
    Coleman | A. Smith | VVD
    Brooks | Salah (c) | Sterling | Perez | Barkley
    Wilson | Kane

    Thoughts?

Like it a lot. Do you have any players on bench that play? Barkley could be a risk, but probably only gets replaced by Mount who is same price. Just hope they don't share the minutes too much

Bench fodder sadly. I know Frank loves Barkley so I can see him stepping up this season

You're not going to change your team in the next 17 days?

Too many non-nailed players for a GW1 team imo. Question marks over keeper, Brooks, Perez and Barkley.

Brooks & Perez are nailed. Keeper is going to be a 4.5.. Agree that Barkley is the wildcard

With respect, I strongly contest the idea of Brook being nailed. Same story with Perez to a lesser extent.

First and foremost, Brooks was getting inconsistent minutes last season. Nobody with whom he was competing for minutes has left since last season, so I can't see how his role in the team will have changed massively. No doubt he'll play each game, but I feel it'll be 70 minute starts for 30 minute appearances as an impact sub.

In regards to Perez, yes - a significant amount of expenditure to secure his transfer - but again, unless Rodgers switches to a 4-1-2-1-2, Perez will be competing with Maddison/Tielemans or the wide players Barnes/Gray for minutes, as I very much doubt he'll be usurping Leicester talisman, Jamie Vardy.

Based on what factual information you have garnered that I haven't? £30m doesn't buy you a sure-thing starter these days. I feel Perez will either be a 70 minute player or an impact-sub. I can't see him playing 90 minutes every week.

I'm currently sat on a Salah, Sterling and Kane draft and I really like the team and its structure. It means that I can access any player I want from just two transfers.

I was initially keen on the idea of going with a budget forward line of 6.5s, as I've seen employed by many of here thus far, but I just felt that if a premium striker were to become essential, it'd take some serious team surgery - or ditching Salah/Sterling - to be able to afford them.

The sole issue I have with it, however is that every week until I wildcard (tentatively pencilled in for GW8) will be a monumental captaincy headache. For that reason alone, I'm somewhat tempted to set and forget on one of them - probably Salah - to play the average over the eight weeks, rather than aiming for the ceiling by navigating between the three. Thoughts on this captaincy strategy given my current draft of three premium players?

I've gone for those 3 for the exact reasons as you

I've gone down the same road as you and ended up with an SSK draft. I'm not worried about the armband, but changing from 3x6.5s to Kane+2x4.5s feels not right.

What’s the rest of your team look like mate

      1. Obi-1 Kenobi-0
        • 8 Years
        4 years, 8 months ago

        Pope (Button)
        Trent Digne Coleman Zinchenko (Diop)
        Salah Sterling Tielemans Gundogan (Dendoncker)
        Kane King (Greenwood)

Typically, Gundogan either plays 90 or 0. He very rarely makes cameos. 23 starts and 8 cameos last season, scoring 6 goals and registering 3 assists. When he does play, he's fairly attacking and often chips in with a goal or assist. I feel that is pretty good value for £5.5m. 9 returns in 31 appearances, or a return once in every three games, I feel is decent enough for a 5.5. Also, being a City player, I think he'll be more likely to gain 3 points per game than a £5.5m from a weaker team, who are more likely to return 2 points. He'll either start in a strong City side, come on as a sub in a strong City side or not play at all and I'll have either Diop or Dendoncker to sub in.

The rest of the team doesn't need much justification.

Dont see much point in having 3 x 11m+ players when you only can\will captain one of them.

Rather spend the money to have overall strong team with 1 max 2 set & forget captains.

It's a safe way to start, I feel. Protects you if the one you don't own goes off. Until more information is prevalent regarding which are the two to have, I believe it is the safest way to go. I don't think it'll get me off to a blistering start, but I'm certain it'll stop me from getting off to a horrible one.

GW1 is the biggest unknown of the season, so putting myself in a good position to adapt when I have information on starting XIs, attacking budget players, etc, is higher on my priority. Hence the inclusion of a high price point player at each position, bar keeper.

Fair enough but you will still most likely use 2 transfers when you decide which 2 premiums you want to keep (one downgrade & one upgrade) it will be the same for those with only 1 or 2 premiums to start with.

Have to say your team looks decent but its almost like you are writing off one of midfield spots being content with 2 points each week.

Team A, 4-4-2 with Sterling and Coleman:

    Salah / Sterling / Siggy / Madds
    King / Jota

Team B, 3-5-2, with KDB and Fraser (+ whoever starts for Chelsea over Jota):
    Pope

    Salah / KDB / Siggy / Fraser / Madds
    Tammy / King

That’s all that’s left really!! I’d expect a new RB and possibly a new CB and LB. Ward could even replace PvA if the end of last season is a guide. Roy seemed to get fed up with his inability to defend and Schlupp is now upfield.

Dann I suspect is close to being pensioned off. Neither Sakho nor Tomkins have a great fitness record.

    Dear David Munday,

is there anything you can do to fix the major lag when you are on video chat with the rest of the team? The lag, unfortunately, lowers the quality of the video/podcast, as there are more (annoying) breaks in the chat, a lot of your arguments and points come out with only half of the words and I don't get the gist of what you are after, and it breaks up the flow in what otherwise is a great discussion about FPL.

It's hard to tell from my side of the screen whether it is due to a poor computer, a poor internet line, other people using all the bandwith on your internet line, or anything else. I do not think that the camera or microphone is to blame, as both video and sound is disrupted at the same time.

Last season was so bad that I stopped listening to a lot of the podcasts due to this problem. So I duly hope this will be fixed promptly, making FFS 19/20 an even better experience for us, the users.

    All the best,
    Wisdom.

So Devonshire in general is covered with low quality internet?

If so, he should stay away from video or sound related content, and stick to the writing - which he does very well. Too bad that user experience on videos and pocasts is falling, due to using an employee who does not have the framework to perform the job.

Even though you, subjectively, think the video was good enough, does not mean it was for all viewers. And as a serious vidcaster, FFS should consider all viewers when making decisions.

For me, as a non-native speaker of the Britannian language, the aforementioned stopgaps due to lag makes a whole lot of difference. Instead of listening to the sound while doing other things I have to concentrate to understand what David was trying to say. And 2-3 times during this vid I failed to get his meaning. Hence, this is an area where FFS could improve, imho ^^

Anytime. As "El Lobito" mentioned, this was far from the worst cast. However, if this was the best version, it still was far from good enough :/

As far as I remember, the worst times are the group chats on Scoutcast with 3-4 members, then it goes totally awry.

    Gunn
    VVD - Zinchenko - Kiko/Balbuena
    Salah - Sterling - Fraser - Maddison - ?
    Kane - Adams

    McGovern - Greenwood - Kelly - Kiko/Balbuena

6m left. Not ruling out going with a 5.5 or Norwood/Jorginho to upgrade Kiko but I’m finding it hard to strike a balance I’m happy with. Don’t like the idea of going with an all premium defence at the start (although it can pay off massively) so compromised a bit at the back.

Mount might be a good punt. Also love the idea of Adams. I've been trying to fit him in for ages.

Mount is who’s filling the slot for me currently but don’t know if I wanna gamble that haha. Lamps likes him and he’ll chances, 5.5 and he’d have already been in.

Yeah I like what I’ve seen and read about Adams, Hasenhüttl is a good manager, think they’ll do alright.

Tough pricing in FPL this year - you are bound to leave with a , 2 minimum and maybe even 3 fodder players !!!!

all of my fodder players are on the bench thankfully, if you wanna see tough check out the Sky game where all of the good FPL midfielders like Salah, Sterling, Mane etc are classified as forwards, 🙁

Which of these two teams would you pick:

    1:
    Heaton
    Robertson TAA Coleman Taylor
    Sterling Salah KDB Perez
    Jimenez King

    2:
    Heaton
    Robertson TAA Coleman Laporte
    Sterling Salah KDB El Ghazi
    Jota DCL

    3:
    Neither. Try again.

    Ryan
    TAA Walker Coleman Taylor
    Sterling Salah Ricarlison Perez
    Greenwood Kane
    Button Cathcart Noble Wickham

Thoughts on this? Gone for a risky option with Greenwood. I don't know if he will start but think he will get minutes and might be worth the risk at the start and then having Noble (will play and on pens) and a playing 4.5 def to cover.

    G. Ryan/Begovic
    D. Dunk, Taylor (BUR), Kelly, Coleman, VVD
    M. Sterling, Salah, Townsend, Højberg, McGinn
    F. Calwert-Lewin, Wilson, Kane

Any tips? Can take 0,5 from Højberg and invest in Digne or TAA..

t's bizarre, throw money at Mclaren, give Benitez next to nothing and then throw money at Bruce. Makes no sense to me but hey-ho.

It’s just using the money from Perez. Ashley is not being generous they just needed an actual replacement he wasn’t going to get away with it

Benitez would of wanted control (ideally) of all transfer ins and outs and Ashley wouldn't want that, big Joe isn't really a Bruce signing it's Ashley's. Bruce is more a head coach (fans say puppet) more than manager.
