Departures could hurt Crystal Palace’s FPL assets this season

An examination of last season’s underlying statistics suggests that the new campaign could prove tough for Crystal Palace.

The Eagles have already lost Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£5.5m) to Manchester United and other clubs continue to sniff around important attacking asset Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m).

Whether they would be able to cope without the pair is certainly a key question that Fantasy managers should be considering this summer.

As we resume our Numbers Game series, we take a look at the defensive and offensive numbers for Roy Hodgson’s players both as a team and individually to assess their credentials as Fantasy assets in 2019/20.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who are signed up for the season can access it in full.

The original Fantasy League game is back for the 2019/20 season – PLAY HERE!

    Sorry to be negative but...

In the history of the P.L and in turn FPL, has their ever been a worse crop of strikers than the present?

    Look down that first page.

    Forget page 2.

Incredible. Half of page 1 aren't even really strikers/no.9s and many aren't even starters.

    Can I play a 4 6 0?

I think they missed an opportunity to fix the game this year.

Any player playing in a front 3 should be listed as a fwd and knock 1-1.5m off their prices to compensate for the lost points - Salah, Sterling, Mane, Sane just to name a few.

My mistake Ive misread Mir's deal and he's gone straight out on loan to Forest. How do you fit Jiminez, Jota and the new Milan signing though? Assuming Dendoncker Moutinho and Neves are still nailed and we're still playing with wing backs...

very simple, play jota and jimenez in PL and use cutrone in EL to ease schedule to those two. Jota and jimenez brought top 7 finish, dont fix what aint broken

And given his record of being hauled off early he’s now off my list. That goal involvement record was so tasty for a 6.5.

I have Salah, Sterling and KDB.

If Jota is a no go, there's always Josh King or Deulofeu @ 6.5m.

There's also Che Adams and Wesley @ 6m to look at...one of them could start firing.

Ah ok. Personally Id look at altering that.....

Zinchenko - people are jumping on him on here, but we know with Pep there is often no rhyme or reason to his selections, you can't afford to have a 5.5 m defender benched.

Digne - With zouma and Gueye leaving they are not as sure at the back. Yes they he has attacking returns but do you want to rely on these? Coleman is similar for less and not challenged by Baines.

          In Summary

          Ederson

TAA/Walker/Robertson/Coleman ('down grading' Digne and upgrading Zinc) is a nailed on back line - though that is a lot of money to spend in defence.

Walker didn't start every match imo. I doubt he is worth .5 over Zinch. Or is he more nailed now. Why?

He played 3 games less than Laporte, kept the same amount of clean sheets. Was the second highest scoring man city defender after Laporte (150 vs 177), mainly due to the 2 goals and 2 assists more Laporte had. Zinc is second choice to Mendy, Danilo also plays on the left. Walker is proven in the FPL, less rotation risk and generally a higher scorer. If you want a Man city defender for 5.5 I would go stones.

I'm impressed with your reasoning on Digne/Coleman, however, I am not buying the Walker/Zinchenko swap - it feels to me like Zinchenko is as nailed on (at least for the start of the season) as Walker. If that is the case, would you still take Coleman over Digne (assume that there is no other place to put the .5)?

He might be and if he's not you'll easily find a defender for 5.5. 'feels' and hunches' can pay off, I prefer to try and look at stats, (that being said I think he was involved mainly towards the end of last season - so we'll see). 0.5 certainly not in your defence. Whats the rest of your team?

Salah Sterling Perez Fraser/Lucas Moura (Dendoncker)
                    King Jota (Greenwood)

I’m tempted to boost Zinchenko to Laporte and downgrade Digne to a 5.0 - any recommendations?

Wolves just signed a striker so I would maybe look at Jota again. You could go with Wesley from AV or DCL at Everton and then that saves you .5 for Digne to Coleman.

If you have to think that Moura will make way for Son after 2 GW's, this isn't an issue as long as your not trying to do the same with Zinc as well.

I like that your thinking ahead. Personal id look at Digne to Coleman, Zinc to a nailed on 4.5 and Ryan to Ederson, (see my comments above on Zinc and Digne).

I think your team has a good balance of FPL Proven players, though you don't have much flexibility up top if things go wrong. My current template looks very similar, but I'm trying to bring in Vardy to partner King and planning on Salah to Mane when he starts to play.

Over the first two fixtures, I genuinely think Wilson can match him. Plus most top players will captain Salah in GW1, so even if Kane goes to town against Villa, it wont be too disastrous.

He only scares me against Newcastle in GW3. I imagine he will be a prime captaincy choice.

It's a toincoss between Giroud, Abraham and Bats. I reckon they will all get game time and the one finding form first gets the spot. Stay clear

The highest-scoring 6m defender? Why not?

Nothing punty about that team - except Batty. Very very punty. Don't go there - wait a couple of weeks to see how Chelsea line up.

Rate my draft team out of ten.

Think I've done well in defence and with Aguero and Son but a lot of punts in there...

    Pickford
    VVD Walker Stones Doherty Duffy
    Gross Brooks Robinson
    Aguero Jota

    Pope, Abraham, Son, McGinn

8 man draft. 2 teams were on autopick and its head to head. Think I'll try keep the defence the same and change my punts in midfield and attack week to week 🙂

Decent team for an 8 man league. I've been playing draft for around 6 years now with a group of friends, great format of everyone stays active. I've found jumping on fixture swings a week or so before a really good spell works great. Especially for the budget options.

Cheers mate. Some of the others have done a lot better than me I think. Yeah that worked well for me last year. Short term punts based on fixtures. 🙂 It's all FFS members so should stay competitive throughout 🙂

Stones and Doherty aren't great picks in defence.

          Son prob higher up

Kane lower down (lack of minutes through injury)

Mane will regress this year I think. Last year was a high water mark for him.

Will Liverpool be keeping 20 CS this year? Slight regression there too.

KDB, Pogba seem a bit low. No Fraser on the list. Some Leicester mids could be insurgent this year.

      1. Mackans
        • 6 Years

Ok fair but who would you replace KDB with? And would you have Kane or Auba instead of Mane?

          • Fantasy Football Scout Member

If KDB stays fit, he's gonna be 190-200pts...previous seasons tell you that.

Kane (again, if fit) can hit 200.

Auba, dunno, Arsenal are utterly unpredictable, they have Europa League again.

Before last season, no defender ever hit 200pts, the Robbo and VVD did (TAA would've done if he'd played more minutes). Alonso was only scoring 180 in his awesome season. So I wouldn't bank on any 200pt defenders.

So, I'd go Salah, Sterling, Kane, KDB, Aguero, Auba as a top 6

      Kane/Mane/Bobby lower
      Aguero/Sterling/Son/Pogba higher
Rashford not on the list, at least one of Alonso/LaPorte/Ederson/Allison probably should be

some new players coming in like Pepe, Dybala could well feature.

First draft. What do we think?
    Lloris
    Aarons VVD Walker
    Salah KDB Moura Perez Trezeguet
    Kane Jimenez

    Button Ayew Cathcart Lundstram

Do you think it would be worth finding an extra 0.5 and upgrading Trezeguet to Trossard? Also, who would you say are the best value 4.5 defenders? Cheers.
