Yes, disappointed, but also recognises City adhere to a sensible program for buying players. They could afford to pay 80million but rightly concluded he's not worth that much. United have a habit of throwing stupid money and salaries around. In the long term, look how those contrasting philosophies have panned out. Pep understands.

Obviously Ederson is the danger here - if he saves a pen or two, and city keep their resilience he could actually push for 200 points - and he’s cheap vs. Laporte

Am I right in saying Etheridge is the only one up there that represents a team that’s just been promoted? If he is, then I think it’s clear to say Pope is the standout option and a season keeper at 4.5. I’m not even going to bother with rotating him.

One or two of the 4.5's surely will be hitting the 140 pts mark, as happens every season. Problem is picking the right one. So if picking the wrong one from the start, and swapping to the best 4.5 option before Xma,s you may already have missed out on 20 of those 140 points. So even if Ederson may provide less value than the best 4.5's , what he offers is security of a good return - should be minimum 160 pts.

2. Starting winning run under Ole
3. Losing end phase under Ole.
