The impact Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had on United’s Fantasy assets

The jury is still out on Manchester United’s Fantasy assets going into the new campaign.

The new manager bounce that the club experienced after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment in December gave way to some middling form in the final nine Gameweeks of the season.

Their pre-season results (five wins from six) have been quietly encouraging, at least, with Inter Milan and Spurs among the teams already beaten in July.

This latest Numbers Game piece differs from the usual format as we focus on the impact Solskjaer had on United’s assets in the second half of last season.

The Norwegian first took charge of the Red Devils in Gameweek 18, so we will examine United’s stats before and after the departure of Jose Mourinho.

    After yesterday's CS:

    A) TAA
    B) Robbo

      TAA, but keeping both.

i prefer robbo simply bcoz i think he will always play. taa could have the odd rotation with gomez. both equally capable of getting assists. i got robbo & VVD to start season.

      A atm.

Apparently Robertson was being treated for a while, I want to hear he's fit from Klopp before considering him.

i prefer TAA because that right side of flank always somehow seems more active and he gets more crosses to salah/firmino.
Plus, he is on free kicks, from which he occasionally scores

Thanks all - Gomez return and Matip goal has certainly muddied the water for me.

I had TAA and dropped after watching him yesterday. He looks jaded and I think it will take some time before he find form. As such I had switched to VVD as he seems to me with attack intent of scoring/assisting. Good luck mate!

I’d put 9.5 mid close to the top. The players in this bracket who get hot can be viable captains and greater quality makes them more likely to stay hot for longer and become de facto premiums. You can of course trade down.

Even if Greenwood comes off the bench and just gets minutes he will probably be the 4.5 with the most points and then anyone looking to bring in a 4.5 as part of a restructure will immediately go to him. Players at the top of their price point structure often rise in price cause casuals don't look beyond the first set of players that are in front of them.

My first RMT + GW1 setup, a bit off-template i think, because i dont want Greenwood in my team to stay flexible with my bench.

"Feedback is a gift" and very much appreciated.

    Ryan (Button)
    Digne KWP Robertson Cathcart (Lundstram)
    Salah Sterling KDB Pérez (Dendoncker)
    Wilson Ings (Wesley)

    What do you guys think?

    1. Now I'm Panicking
      • 9 Years

KWP is likely to be very short-term. Think Cathcart is under threat from them signing Dawson possibly? Otherwise, I like it and I think an extra proper player ahead of Greenwood on the bench is a sensible tactic.

Thanks for reply! Why is KWP short-term? Who will play on his spot?

I missed watford signing Dawson, have good alternatives, or what would you suggest?

Aurier and Foyth seem to be touted as potential Spurs RWB alternatives - Poch also seems to like to rotate his WBs looking at recent seasons. Not saying it's a bad pick, just a risky one.

Quite a few options at 4.5 - may be worth waiting a bit as well, as Maguire to Man U may trigger a bit of a CB transfer merry-go-round.

    Can't decide on this....

    A) Wilson & Ryan (or another 4.5m keeper)

    B) King & Ederson

I don't have any other City defense

I also only have a 6.0m and 4.5m striker so worried about losing flexibility in attack without Wilson if Kane or Auba start well.

      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I have exactly the same dilemma. I'm on B, but feeling like Wilson for King is the one upgrade I'd really like to make, and struggling to find the money to do it. Ederson to 4.5 keeper would be one way, and it feels like a close call.

But... last year Wilson got 27 points more than King, whereas the best 4.5 keeper was Ryan at 65 points below Ederson. The data is telling me stick with Ederson and King, but my gut still wants Wilson!

Baring in mind I have Wilson as a lock

Hi FFS community. I'm newly-registered on the site and was hoping I might get some RMT advice on this bunch:

    Ryan
    Coleman / Robbo / VVD / Walker

    Wilson / Wood
    Button / Kelly / Dendoncker / Greenwood

Thanks. In fairness, Siggy is still a question mark, despite the good fixtures. I'd like to have felt more confident about Zaha. I think Siggy/Wilson gives me a two FTs route to Son. Wood's played well pre-season, but the 6.5 forward market isn't easy...

This is correct, Lanzini has been the deputy in the recent past, but I'd say given Haller is nailed and Noble won't be (and has a minor injury), he'll definitely pick some up.

Yeah. Now pele has Wilshere back fit and playing well in pre season we can finally have some mobility in the middle next to Rice. Haller’s scores 23/24 career penalties. He will be our man. I still fancy noble to play a fair few though.

    Salah, Sterling, Perez, McGinn

    Last piece of the puzzle...

    A) Sterling and March/Capoue
    B) KDB and Fraser/Lucas

If Lukaku leaves greenwood will start at least 50% of our games.

Solskjaer been very clear he favours a youth strategy, and Rashford/Martial both very inconsistent.
