Why Fantasy managers should wait and see on West Ham this season

Fantasy Premier League managers might want to exercise caution over West Ham assets at the start of 2019/20.

The Hammer start with a tough opening weekend fixture against Manchester City, but it is hard to guarantee Fantasy potential even in the more appealing matches that follow.

Looking at last season’s data, there is a possibility that their new-look attack could take some time to gel.

Meanwhile, the Hammers defence was questionable in 2018/19.

We’ve taken a look at all areas of Manuel Pellegrini’s team last season to see where Fantasy manager can find value in 2019/20.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those signed up for the new season can access it in full.

Seeing whoscored.com predict no Lundstram in starting XI.
I for one will find and extra £0.5 and go for a 2x45 rotation pair like Diop/Montoya.

Yeah, expecially when going with a non-playing 4.5 striker as most one here are. Gives a safety net to focus more on midfield and forward transfers, instead of putting out fires at the back.

It does if going with Greenwood or Wickham, which is effectively the third sub

Seeing quite a few picking him at least. But Dunk ofc safer

Lundstram is the third choice midfielder. If they play two, as normal, then Lundstram won't play. But in some preseason games they played three midfielders and one fewer forward, so Lundstram played. Were they preparing for tougher league matches than last season? Even if they were, it seems likely that for many games they will play as last season, i.e. two midfielders not including Lundstram.

Rico has a better chance of being genuinely first choice in my view.

Thanks for the insights - not going with Lundstram from this. Rico may at least get a couple of games then, his place to loose I guess.

I like Leno as a set and forget. But I'd be inclined to pay the £4.5m to pick his handcuff (Martinez) so you know you'll always have a playing keeper.

Which, of course makes it £9.5m instead of £9.0m for two playing £4.5's.

Ultimately, the question you have to ask is whether you think he'll get more points than, say, Heaton or Pope and, if so, would it be worth the extra money.

    Aubameyang,Wickham ,____

    A) Mings, Wesley, Fraser

The price and the City fixture is a bit off putting

      Spurs will do decent though.

It's almost easier to start with Kane so if an 11 mil striker smashes it, it's doable in one free transfer. No team surgery.

Strikers who smash it at the start are usually brought in by the masses as everyone still has interest, and people are a bit in panic mode, and before the first .1 price rise is in

      Haller is untried. Be careful.

You can potentially get the same value, than Bilva, for a 7.5 mid (Lucas, Martial, Siggy, ...)

You can downgrade Wilson to King (+1.0) and upgrade somewhere else.

      Good call with Rico.

after mendy comes back, who knows.

            Why B over A?

I like the 3-5-2 formation but I could downgrade Barkley and upgrade the defence and play a 4-4-2 - I'm not convinced by King either - prefer Wilson but can't fit him in with Salah/Sterling/Auba - who would you go instead of King?

              don't like moura.

              Deeney over King.

Personally, think three big hitters is the wrong approach at the start of the season. I tried to fit KDB alongside Salah/Sterling and it just felt too inflexible, Auba would make it even more so.

Every time I'm trying to shave off cash I'm looking at Digne

He's just slightly overpriced for an Everton defender considering the alternatives from better teams for the same price/less

He looks like a main player from all these teams, but anyone who had him considering dropping at this point, or is he as nailed as can be?

I think he is overpriced too
