Can Wolves’ FPL assets perform as well in 2019/20?

Wolverhampton Wanderers were one of the big success stories of last season, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s impressive side finishing seventh in their first Premier League campaign in six years.

The West Midlands club offered Fantasy managers some notable bargain buys, with Matt Doherty (£6.0m), Diogo Jota (£6.5m) and Raul Jimenez (£7.5m) the three stand-out assets.

Doherty, Jimenez and several others have been handed price rises in Fantasy Premier League this summer, however, and aren’t quite the cut-price gems they were 12 months ago.

Do Wolves players still appeal, then, going into 2019/20?

Our 20th and final Numbers Game piece looks at Wanderers’ underlying data from last season to see if the numbers of 2018/19 can be repeated in the upcoming campaign.

Lundstram might appear here and there throughout the season; Kelly and Rico are just holding spots.

      I'm with Lunds myself

Depends on the rest of the team of course, but too unbalanced imo. i'm with Salah/Sterling/Vardy

Doesn’t have to be too unbalanced:

        Ryan (McGovern)
Robertson - KWP - Digne - SHAW (Rico)
Salah - Sterling - Perez - Barkley (DENDONKER)
        Kane - King (Greenwood)

Looks good - the thing putting me off is wanting double Liverpool defence which then doesn't allow the 3 big hitters

Could be the one... prefer Fraser to one of the Everton boys (namely Rich)? And not Wesley over Adams (see below)?

        1. sirmorbach
          • 7 Years
          4 years, 8 months ago

I do prefer Fraser over the Everton lads (or even Moura) yeah.

As for Wesley/Adams, it's a toss up at this point really. Wesley is more ready, has scored at UCL, but I have high hopes on Adams (and Saints for that matter) and I'm willing to take that punt.

But if you fancy Wesley, my advise would be the same anyway: Fraser, 6.0, Zinc to Laporte.

          Good luck!

I'm still on Haller and refusing to let go 🙂
Could do Vardy and 5.5, but I'd probably choose your favourite 6m (Bark/Tross) and then bump up a bench player or Zinc to Laporte.

I think he'll be a good pick. Just so awkward to get in at that price point. Tends to score better against teams that dominate possession though, so not too confident of returns from him in GW1 against Leicester.

Just agreed to a 2 man FPL draft league with a friend for £100. Agreed that I get 7 Liverpool players (Salah, Mané, Firmino, TAA, Robbo, VVD, Allison) and he gets to pick any 15 players he wants. Then I have to pick 8 others to add to my Liverpool men. Who do you think is favourite? Also does anyone have any strategy tips for which players I should hope to pick?

Personally I think he’ll have the better squad to start (assuming Kane, Auba and Aguero up front, plus Sterling, KDB is quite formidable).

But my opponent is new to fantasy, so I should have an edge later on, and I should be able to play the fixtures better.

    A) Zinc + Deeney + .5
    B) Laporte + Ings

Feel like either way there's risk: Zinc rotation and Ings injury

The ‘3 cheap defender strategy’ (copyright yer old da 2008) is back in operation. Template goes as follows:

    Rotating 4.5 GK’s.
2 from Liverpool and City, with3 cheap defenders two of which offering good home/away rotation.
    Salah, Sterling plus 3.
11m striker to cover the Kane/Auba option, plus 1 mid-price and 1 budget.

    Team based on this:

    Heaton/Pope
    VVD, Walker, Dunk/Cathcart/Lundstram
    Salah, Sterling, Siggy, Perez, Dendoncker
    Kane/Auba, King, Greenwood

3-5-2 this week with Cathcart and Kane. Aubameyang in next week. Job done.

Dendoncker should never be a starter for you - you are basically playing with 10

Trying to do a similar 3-way defender. Bit in shambles at the moment though. Bit of trouble at GW7 but I guess a lot can change up until then.

Not exactly 3x 4.5 but I went Ake/Diop/Lunds in lack of better idea.

    You can only have one

    A) Pope
    B) Heaton
    C) Ryan

    And why?

I've gone for Ryan due to fixtures during Aug/Sept but Heaton and Pope both good options

Not sure how people even remember who they have in their team any more after all the tinkering.

Imagine watching the opening game of the season ie Liverpool vs Norwich with less than 3 Pool players :).. I just did and immediately switched back to 3 of them even though I thought I could live with just 2 🙂

It’s inevitable that Norwich win 1-0
