The headline FPL team news from Thursday’s press conferences

There were nine Premier League manager press conferences held on Thursday ahead of the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

The headline team news came from Liverpool, where Jurgen Klopp provided fairly positive news on Sadio Mane (£11.5m) ahead of Friday’s encounter with Norwich City.

Klopp said:

Looks fit. Yesterday was his first session with the team. Yesterday now with the team first time, looks absolutely OK, in good spirits. Yes he’s an option, but we will see.

The Reds’ boss said of James Milner (£5.5m):

Millie trained yesterday with the team, 100%. He will be fine.

The Reds opponents have problems at centre-half, with stoppers Christoph Zimmermann and Timm Klose (£4.5m) sidelined for Gameweek 1.

Defensive midfielders Alex Tettey and Ibrahim Amadou (both £4.5m) are also unavailable for tomorrow’s encounter.

On the subject of newly promoted clubs, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder revealed a clean bill of health at today’s presser.

Dean Smith only ruled out James Chester (£4.5m), meanwhile, as Villa prepare to take on Spurs.

Robbie Brady (£5.5m) looks set to miss out for Burnley against Southampton, whose manager Ralph Hasenhuttl didn’t disclose any injury concerns.

Gerard Deulofeu (£6.5m) was passed fit by Javi Gracia but Danny Welbeck (£6.0m) won’t be ready to feature against Brighton.

The Seagulls will be without Jose Izquierdo (£5.5m) and Yves Bissouma (£5.0m).

Mark Noble (£5.0m) hasn’t recovered from a dead leg in time to face Manchester City but Lukasz Fabianski (£5.0m) is fit to face the reigning champions.

We’ll have updates on Friday’s 11 press conferences in advance of the 19:00 BST deadline.

        We are all going to get on a Chelsea bandwagon at some point. They are a top 4 side with no player costing more than 7.5m.

        We have 5.0m defender possible, whichever of Barkley or Mount is going to emerge as an essential pick. Maybe this will be how my team will look in 3 weeks time.

            Same, defence looks shaky and Lampards time at Derby does not fill me we confidence. Attacking options 100%, Barkley, Mont or CHO all the same price so easy to swap out for the one in form.

        One of Barkley and Mount is going to be essential. One of them will be the Chelsea #10. If it's Barkley, he also has penalties (Willian might be first choice)

      i really like it, actually.

      By the time Rudiger is back, Christensen out + you'll know which of the 4m's is worth keeping. And defense is your only worry.

      I think Aubameyang might be the best premier forward this season.

      been on barkley for a while but the uncertainty wrt Mount has turned me off him. Fromm what I'm seeing of pre season reports, the Chelsea defense has been ropey, so watch for that. Button won't start. Rico will drop to the bench when Daniels is back and I'm reading that he's in training. Lundstram - everyone's hoping there. Not sold on Kean / Wesley. Adams (Sot) supposed to be playing well and might be worth considering.

      I had siggy in all my early drafts, then got rid of him due to non-scoring pre-season - now I'm looking at those fixtures and thinking I need him back in, actually in place of Martial who I've just brought in

      really undecided, I think if Martial starts and plays oop he'll be more exciting to own, but Siggy on pens and set pieces with that almost perfect run of fixtures....

      I think the logical choice will be to go Siggy, and swap him out if Everton are looking toothless

      in answer though, yes I think Martial could be great, his points per minute are excellent in last couple of seasons, and with Lukaku gone 'could' be a guaranteed starter, need to see how utd are playing I guess
