The headline FPL team news from Thursday’s press conferences

There were nine Premier League manager press conferences held on Thursday ahead of the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

The headline team news came from Liverpool, where Jurgen Klopp provided fairly positive news on Sadio Mane (£11.5m) ahead of Friday’s encounter with Norwich City.

Klopp said:

Looks fit. Yesterday was his first session with the team. Yesterday now with the team first time, looks absolutely OK, in good spirits. Yes he’s an option, but we will see.

The Reds’ boss said of James Milner (£5.5m):

Millie trained yesterday with the team, 100%. He will be fine.

The Reds opponents have problems at centre-half, with stoppers Christoph Zimmermann and Timm Klose (£4.5m) sidelined for Gameweek 1.

Defensive midfielders Alex Tettey and Ibrahim Amadou (both £4.5m) are also unavailable for tomorrow’s encounter.

On the subject of newly promoted clubs, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder revealed a clean bill of health at today’s presser.

Dean Smith only ruled out James Chester (£4.5m), meanwhile, as Villa prepare to take on Spurs.

Robbie Brady (£5.5m) looks set to miss out for Burnley against Southampton, whose manager Ralph Hasenhuttl didn’t disclose any injury concerns.

Gerard Deulofeu (£6.5m) was passed fit by Javi Gracia but Danny Welbeck (£6.0m) won’t be ready to feature against Brighton.

The Seagulls will be without Jose Izquierdo (£5.5m) and Yves Bissouma (£5.0m).

Mark Noble (£5.0m) hasn’t recovered from a dead leg in time to face Manchester City but Lukasz Fabianski (£5.0m) is fit to face the reigning champions.

We’ll have updates on Friday’s 11 press conferences in advance of the 19:00 BST deadline.

    I'm gonna have to post this a few more times soz, picking the wrong one from Moura/Fraser/Perez will annoy me a lot (please just PRETEND Gomez is nailed)

    my list of preference for those 3 is Moura > Fraser > Perez, but B is better right?

    I'm kind of happy with my mid and forward lines. VVD+Robertson and a Rico. I have 9.0m available for my 3rd+4th defenders. Who would i go for?

    Not sure if I should have Zouma/KWP and a 4.0m or go 2×4.5m (who)?

    I can downgrade Perez (my 4th mid to a 6.0m or 5.5m) and upgrade a defender but I think my mid looks good

    From checking the 4m defender club forums order of most likely according to fans

    Hanley - most Norwich fans have him starting one saying Klose out injured. Do really want Norwich defender with early run?

    Kelly - 60/40? Many have but loads of arguments which 2 from Kelly Dann Cahill Sakho. Sakho lacking match fitness so maybe just 2 from 3.

    Rico - seems only about 50/50. Some want Daniels but many have Stacey LB and Smith RB

    Gibson - surprisingingly active forum but can't find 1 predicted 11 thread. Should be 3rd choice behind Taylor/Pieters

      Lundstram - maybe 5 to 10% have starting. Majority have him on bench. Some not even bench

      I am playing four at the back, so the chance of the 4.0 defender coming in is relatively small. For that reason only I tend to pick someone with low ownership in case my precious 4.0 becomes 3.9 soon. Not Kelly.

    I almost feel like it’s best not to do RMTs this late now on the site as it will only create more panic. If you have tinkered a lot and are now at a gridlock with your team, just be happy with it 🙂

    I know if I share mine people will try persuade me into something more ‘template’ especially as I’m going light in defence

      little bit worried on Barkley / Moura for rotation - watch GW1 lineups. Deulofeu was a doubt but lineups might indicate he's clear to play - watch again there. Greenwood may be looking at "impact sub" role but it worked for Olly back in the day. Good team.

    What’s the latest on 4.0 defenders. I’ve been locked into Lundstram thinking he’s pretty safe long term but have noticed a few comments of people being off him without actual reasoning?
